Counter Attack Chapter 37

The next afternoon, Chi was rummaging through his drawer and he saw the two sweets. He didn't like sweets, he hadn't had one for a long time so he kept the sweets that Wu gave into the drawer. Now they appeared again, after staring at the white rabbit on the wrapper, he actually unwrapped it.

At the same time, Fang Xin walked into Chi putting the sweet into his mouth.

'Uh? I thought you don't eat sweets?' Fang was surprised.

Chi looked at him lazily, 'Who said that?'

'It was our coworker's wedding a few days ago and he gave out sweets to the whole department,  you didn't even take any of those. I even asked you that time, you said you don't eat sweets.'

'That was two days ago.' Chi said.

Fang was speechless, he was eyeing on the last sweet lying on the desk. 'I haven't had these sweets for a long time now, not sure if it tastes like before...'

'Yes.'

A simple word made a huge blow on Fang who was subtly asking for the sweet.

Fang didn't give up, he grinned, 'Give me one.'

'There's none left.'

Chi was being very clear already, normally people would know what he actually meant, but Fang was very naive, he insisted on wanting the candy, 'Aren't you lying without blinking your eyes? I can see that it's right there, how is it gone?'

Chi lifted his gaze, 'You want your eyes or the candy?'

Chi stoned for three seconds before flashing out of sight.

For the following weeks, Wu would still come here to play basketball, no matter Chi ended work late or early; no matter rain or not, Wu would always be there. Sometimes we would play by himself, sometimes he would find a few people to play along. Even though Wu could see Chi from far, as long as Chi doesn't talk to him, he wouldn't care about it.

Chi ended late that night, there were only them two on the court, Wu would always secretly stuffed snacks into Chi's pocket, mostly were beancurd; sometimes it's broad beans or pepper marinated chicken feet... Chi was aware of it now, he didn't wait for Wu to 'give' him, he just went straight to his backpack. He just took everything that he could find.

Wu would also bring some good stuff for Jealous.

It seemed like there was a mutual understanding within them two.

Chi wouldn't ask what Wu bought for him, Wu didn't ask why Chi took from his bag too. It's like it's normal for you to stuff snacks into my pocket, it's normal for you to look through my bag. There was no conversation going on between them; as if they were here to eat snacks and play basketball.

The weather was really dry recently, Chi was out working the whole day, a layer of dead skin has accumulated on top of his actual skin already. That day he was ransacking Wu's bag and saw an unopened packaging of 'Da Bao' (a cosmetic product, probably moisturizer), there was even a label of $9.90 on it.

'For me?' Chi asked deliberately.

Wu pretended that he didn't hear anything, he was spinning the ball with his finger.

Chi picked up a stone and aimed it at one of Wu's ear, he said with a raspy voice, 'Then I'll call you "Da Bao" from now then.' (Da Bao also meant Big Precious or Gem or whatever you want to call it LOL)

'Why?' Wu stopped the ball.

The anger between his brows were ceased with a smile, 'Because we see each other everyday!'

The advertisement jingle for Da Bao was played in Wu's head, 'See Da Bao tomorrow, See Da Bao everyday!' What the fuck! Is he disgracing me now? So he replied indignantly, 'Don't assume that expensive products are good, actuallt Da Bao is the best product, its affordable and great.'

Chi didn't say anything, he just smiled.

Wu walked towards him with a gloom face, he reached out wanting to snatch the product away from Chi's hand, 'You can give me back if you don't want it, I didn't want to give it to you even!'

In the end, he didn't managed to get back the product, he even gave himself away also.

Chi's hands clutched onto Wu's collar, pulled him near to his face, swept through Wu's face with a violating gaze, then said, 'I want.'

You can take it if you want it, what for pulling my shirt? ....Wu forcefully tugged onto his collar, he felt pressurized when being watched by Chi with those gaze of his. In that very small fraction of time, he almost couldn't hold it in anymore, he wished to withdraw from this plan and leave Chi, but when he recalled the past fueds he swallowed them back in again.

Chi was looking through Wu's body, even though he was wearing a fading jersey, a pair of muddy sneakers, there was mud and sweat all over his body... Yet Chi thought that he was too clean, so clean that he couldn't touch any part of his skin.

In the end, Chi's hands sneaked to Wu's waist band, then pulled up firmly.

He caught the balls!

The veins on Wu's forehead bulged, he waved a punch onto Chi's face.

Chi's smiled has made the night darker.
