Counter Attack Chapter 150

Summer is coming, and it's also almonds season.

Wu's yard has a huge almond tree, everything time around this time of the year, there will be so many almonds on the tree that its branches were drooping down. Wu loves almonds, he would always walk round and round the almond tree when he's bored, he would pick up almonds and eat them, he can usually eat a pound or two after two rounds.

But he has a lot of work this year, he didn't have the time to walk around the tree anymore, he went back home and picked all the almonds into a huge bag, he filled two bags full of almonds and carried them into his car.

 Wu's mother was following behind Wu, she asked worriedly, 'You're taking all of that?'

Wu said, 'If not who is going to eat them all? You have diabetes, the doctor wouldn't let you eat food with high sugar level.'

'It's not me,' she said, 'It's for your nephew, did you forget that he loved almonds?'

Wu's expression soured, 'Didn't you just give Sis a bucket full? Why are you eyeing the ones in my car? So you favor your grandson over your own son?'

Wu's mother was dumbfounded, why have this child changed? He used to send the almonds to his sister when they were ripe, he used to place others before him, why now he learned how to protect his food?

He can't help it, in the past, there was no one caring for him, so he could only care for other people instead; now he has someone who is wiping his ass for him, of course, he would think that he has the right to have everything. 

'I need to send some to Chi,' Wu found himself a good excuse.

After hearing this, her knitted brows were released.

'Why didn't you say earlier? There's more in the house, I kept them for Chi!'

Wu scorned, 'Why are you so biased? I took only two bags and you're not happy, but you secretly stashed half a bag for Chi!'

'You boy! How am I not happy?' Wu's mother slapped on Wu's back, 'If you said Chi has a share, why would I be unhappy?'

Wu was speechless, isn't it obvious enough?

When they're walking back to the house, Wu's mother said, 'Chi has visited me a few days ago, he even brought a doctor along, he said the doctor will come to our house and give me regular checkups, so that I wouldn't need to go to the hospital that often. You say why is he so good to me?'

Wu let out a few coughs, so to hide his uneasiness.

'He treats everyone very well.'

She then asked, 'Have you visited his parents then?'

Wu almost bit his tongue off, visit his parents? I don't have the balls to! Keeping his social status aside, just by that dildo incident, I can't afford to lose my life!

'Well, there's no need for that,' Wu brushed it off.

Wu's mother frowned, 'What do you mean by no need? You are so insensible! Chi always comes and visit me, why can't you go and visit his parents, is it right?'

'For someone lowly like me, I'm better off watching the news.'

'What are you mumbling about?'

Wu shook his head, 'Nothing, I'm saying that his parents were too busy, I'll go when they're free.'

He drove back to the office with over ten pounds of almonds, he even compared their weight before leaving the car, as expected, Chi's bag is heavier than his, so Wu took a portion from Chi's and added into his.

Even so, he felt it's such a waste when he sees the leftover almonds in Chi's bag.

Today's Thursday, it's Wu's day to pick Chi up from work.

After he ended work, he drove to Chi's office, the traffic was really bad on the way, Wu then ate some from Chi's portions while driving.

In the end, by the time he reached the building, another half a pound of almonds have gone into Wu's stomach.

Chi walked down the stairs, Wu stuck his head out of the window. 

'Almonds form my backyard, give it a try.'

Then he tossed an almond to Chi.

Chi caught it with his mouth, he chewed and swallowed it, then nodded.

'Not bad.'

Wu asked, 'Why did you swallow with the seeds?'

Chi asked blankly, ' There are seeds?'

Fucking hell, I never seen anyone like this, Wu glared at Chi.

Just as Chi was about to get into the car, Wu said, 'Don't get in the car yet, there's a box of almonds for you to eat in the office, you can take it to your office first.'

'You take care of your brother first,' then he handed Jealous to Wu.

Not sure if it's because of the change of weather, every time at this time of the year, Jealous would always stick to people. Chi has been bringing him to the office lately, he will always hang Jealous around his neck and he doesn't even need to switch the air-con on.

Wu peeled an almond open and found a worm inside, then he popped the worm into Jealous's mouth.

Da Bao eats the almond, Er Bao eats the worm, what a wonderful family.

Chi was carrying the box walking into the building, then he bumped into Ling who was just exiting the building.

The first time may call it a coincidence, the second time it must be fate, we need to have a good talk after the third time. Wu couldn't help but think, I only come to the office once a week, why can I bump into her each time? As if it wasn't obvious enough, someone must've been ambushing somewhere.

'Hey, what a coincidence!' Ling waved to and greeted Chi.

Chi nodded to her direction and just as he was about to continue walking, of course, he would be dragged by Ling.

'What is inside this box? It smells so good!'

Chi shortly replied, 'Almonds.'

Normally when someone asked you, you would add another sentence saying: 'Give it a try!' Since Chi didn't even mention it, it shows that he doesn't even have the intention to let her try. But Ling doesn't think that way, she thinks that Chi didn't say it because that's how he is as a person, you can't be a shy lady in front of such guy, you have to friendly and warming, you have to say it on his behalf.

'Wow! Let me have a try.'

Wu scoffed, can that be any faker? She always eats import food, now she's so excited when she sees the local food that we peasants eat?

Ling reached her hands into the box and ate one immediately.

'It isn't washed,'  Chi reminded.

Ling doesn't care, 'It's fine, it looks very organic and  fresh, it must be free of pesticides.'

Wu was gritting his teeth, you have sharp eyes!

Ling finished one and said it was really good, so she proceeded to reach out for another one.

Normally, Chi would usually walk away immediately, he will just let the person call him stingy or whatever, Da Bao's gifts aren't free for anyone. But when Wu was present today, Chi can't show that side of him today, other people wouldn't tease Chi for that but Wu dare to.

So he just stuffed a few into Ling's pocket and left.

Wu's face literally became black as coal, fucking hell, I don't even want to let him eat all that, you even took more! Looking at Ling's bulging pocket, Wu's heart really ached for those almonds!

But after Chi has returned back to the car, he was fine again.

As if he didn't see anything, he just talked and laughed, didn't mention about it at all.

The next morning, Wu woke up super early and sent Chi to work, no particular reason at all, just to spy on the enemy.

As he expected, just as Chi's car arrived at the company, Ling suddenly popped out from somewhere.

'Have you eaten breakfast?' She has a bag in her hand, 'My maid made some dumplings, it's super good, want to try?'

Chi simply replied, 'I've had breakfast.'

Seeing Ling was about to follow Chi again, Wu reached his head out of the window and whistled.

Ling looked around and set her gaze on Wu.

Wu knew Chi very well, by the time Chi must already be at Level 3, so he shouted out to Ling, 'Sister-in-law, I haven't eaten yet.'

Ling pointed at herself looking shocked, 'You're calling me?'

'If not who else?'

Ling was secretly happy inside, but she didn't show it, she walked towards Wu's car carefully, then asked, 'You called me...'

'Sister-in-law!' Wu replied happily.

Ling was mad, 'What are you talking about? Who is your brother?'

Wu was smirking, 'Don't you know?'

Ling blushed, 'Stop it, we haven't even started on anything yet.'

Wu chortled inside, don't worry, you won't even get the chance to.

But he still replied sweetly, 'Won't it happen sooner or later?'

'Chi told you about me?' Ling probed.

Fucking hell, so you mean, you guys have something more going on?

Wu's anger flashed through his eyes for a second, then he continued playing along, 'I'm still very hungry, I can't really think of anything at the moment.'

Ling pouted, 'Fine, here you go.'

Then she gave Wu the dumplings.

Wu wasn't even hungry, he just wants to start a conversation.

'Do you know why Chi didn't eat these dumplings?'

Ling said, 'Didn't he had breakfast already?'

Wu said, 'What! He doesn't like dumplings!'

Ling's eyes glistened, 'What does he like?'

'He likes a lot of food, trail mix, rice cakes, pistachios, melon seeds, skewers...' Wu listed down the food that he loves.

'He likes to snack?' Ling was rather surprised.

Actually, Chi's favorite snack is beancurd, but he didn't mention it.

Ling quickly rushed to a supermarket nearby, just to finish the show, Wu also followed along, he even showed her which brand that Chi likes the most.

After Ling had left, he bought another bag full of the same stuff that she has bought.

When she sent it to Chi's office, Chi wasn't at his desk, but his office door was open.

Ling put the bag of snacks on his desk and left a note.

'It's my treat! You have to finish it.'

Then she left the office happily.

When Chi came back, that note was gone already, there are two huge bags full of snacks, normally when Ch receive such gifts, he would give out to his colleagues. Because the person who gave him the gifts must be from the same department, it hints the person to stop the act because it will be a waste of their time.

But then, when he opened it, all of it were Wu's favorite snacks.

His gaze changed, then he surprisingly accepted all of it.
