Counter Attack Chapter 138

After the New Year's holiday, Shuai finally gained some weight back, his sharp chin looks more rounded, his skin looks ever so supple as well.

His parents live in Shanghai, he was brought up by his grandmother, so he only goes back home when it's New Year. Every trip back home, his parents would force him to eat, they won't let him go unless he gained a pound or two.

'Doc. Shuai, I haven't seen you for a while. During the holiday my niece came to visit, she asked me to introduce someone to her, the first candidate I thought of is you, but I heard that you've gone back to your hometown.'

Mrs. Cho always comes to Shuai to talk him into match-making, he has grown used to it.

'No worries, let's see when my life is more stable.'

Mrs. Cho frowned, 'Your life isn't stable enough? You're almost 30, you have an apartment and a car, you have the looks too, why don't you have a date? If you don't start searching now, when you're over 35, it'll be too late!'

Shuai smiled politely, 'I'll just follow my fate.'

'You sure you can wait till it happens?'

'Don't you worry about me,' Shuai said while ushering Mrs. Cho into the injection room, then he purposely elongated his last word, 'Things will happen when it should be...'

After she left, the clinic became much more tranquil, Shuai suddenly thought of Wu. It seems like ever since the holidays ended, he has never seen that bastard again, Wu hardly ever calls as well, not sure what's he's busy about.

Using the clinic's telephone and dialled Wu's number, a commercialized voice came from the other side of the call.

'Hi.'

Shuai chuckled, 'What are you doing?'

Wu was relieved, 'It's you! I'm busy clearing my storehouse, it feels like I'm going crazy.' Then he gulped down a few mouthfuls of water, 'It's not fun running a production company, wait till I earn more money, I'll change into a real estate agent.'

'You haven't earned enough money yet?' Shuai teased, 'If you were to use the money from your small golden safe to buy a house, it shouldn't be a problem right?'

'I can't touch the money in there, I need it for something else!'

'What's that for?' Shuai squinted his eyes in curiosity.

Wu gave the predictable answer, 'To get married!'

Shuai didn't have the chance to pick on Wu when a figure of a man appeared at the entrance. After seeing the clearly the man's face, Shuai was shocked, angry, anxious, uneasy...it's a surge of mixed feelings, making him choked on his words.

'Shuai, why aren't you talking?' Wu asked from the other end of the call.

Shuai's phone slipped out of his hand, dropped on the desk, making a low thud.

'Strange...' Wu hung up first, then he called back again.

The phone rang in the spacious clinic, the provocative man heard the ever so familiar ringtone, a smirk surfaced his face.

'After so many years, you're still using this ringtone?'

Shuai ignored the question and went straight to the point, 'Why are you here?'

'I got a divorce,' the man spoke of those words as if they're nothing, 'I did it for you.'

Shuai was disgusted to the max, he just said, 'Go back to Shanghai, stay away from me.'

The man disregarded Shuai's words, he went for a tour around the clinic on his own, every single crook and cranny, he's trying to look for clues to investigate Shuai's relationship status from the trace of Shuai's life for the past 2 years.

'Don't you dare to touch my bookshelf!' Shuai was really mad.

The man took out a random book and flipped through it, then he scoffed, 'You still like to read healthcare books? No wonder after so many years, you look as youthful as before. I am very curious, whether your backside is as tight as it used to be?'

Shuai threw the pencil holder, but the man dodged it easily, the pencil holder flew out of the window and shattered into pieces after colliding into the side of the road next to a car.

Guo bent down and picked up one of the fragment, he squinted his eyes and studied it carefully, then he walked into the clinic quietly.

At this moment, Shuai was trying hard to push the man away, berating till his neck gone red, but the man was persistent and forcefully hugged Shuai, his expression hardly changed even when Shuai was resisting it, he is the perfect real-life example of a scoundrel.

Guo stood at the entrance and gave a polite cough.

The man temporarily released Shuai, then gave Guo an inquisitive look.

Guo has a smirk on his face, 'Doc. Shuang, since when you became a veterinarian? You can even treat animals with needs.'

The man strode towards Guo, stared at him with a chilly gaze.

Guo said jokingly, 'Is there any other animal wants to identify my sex?'

The man expression darkened, he clenched his fist tightly, cracking every joint of his hands, then threw his fists at Guo.

The blood vessels in Guo's eyes outlined the savageness of Guo, he welcomes the fist with his bare hand, then pinned it down till the man's limb is numb.

'Let me take a look at your microchip.'

Then he grabbed onto the man's outerwear, forcefully rip it apart down the middle, then slowly reach in to search for his wallet.

As expected, it's the same name that Shuai was mumbling in his sleep.

'Meng Tao...' Guo blurted the words softly.

Meng could tell that Guo was well-trained, he didn't want to start a fight with him, but then Guo was too wild, and it's in front of Shuai too, it's just making him embarrassed.

'Do you even have the rights to speak here?' the man asked.

Guo simply replied, 'I have my property here, of course, I can speak.'

'Your property?' Meng ridiculed with a laugh, 'Please don't say something like that, you'll end up being the loser, I know Shuai better than you do, if he were to start a relationship in this past 2 years, you can kick me out anytime.'

Just as he finished speaking, Guo didn't have any reaction, Shuai slapped across his face.

'Get lost!'

Meng grabbed Shuai's wrist, laughed out hysterically.

'If I were to get lost, wouldn't you be heartbroken once again?'

Guo grimly stared at the hand which grabbed Shuai's wrist, standing at the side quietly.

Meng then started another brawl with Shuai, as if it was on purpose to let Guo see, when he was bullying Shuai, he even shuffled towards Guo and stepped on Guo's feet a few times.

Guo remained composed, he didn't want to give Meng the reaction he wants, he only stared at Meng's arm. As predicted, Meng is once again heading towards Guo during the fight with Shuai, a small knife is lunging towards Guo's abdomen as well.

Thud!

The knife dropped to the ground, Meng looked down, he didn't have the time to process what had happened, a sharp pain is radiating from his wrist. When he lifted his arm, his eyes were bloodshot red.

The fragment that Guo picked up from the ground, it was embedded deep in his wrist.

Then, under Meng's horrifying gaze, Guo took his arm and pulled out the fragment.

Blood was squirted all over Meng's face.

Shuai's expression worsens, he quickly rummaged through his cabinet for bandages.

Meng was really afraid, 'Let my fucking hand go, you hit the artery! I'm not joking with you!'

'Neither am I!'

Guo then peacefully took out his phone, dialed to 120.

'Please come to XX, someone is trying to kill himself.'

Meng screamed into Guo's face, 'No need to call the ambulance, I can drive myself to the hospital!' Then he wanted to withdraw his hand, but all of his attempts are vain.

'Now you want to leave?' Guo gave a sinister smile, 'I don't really want to let you go.'

'I will be dead by the time the ambulance arrives!'

'Not so fast,' Guo then tightened his grip, the blood flow was immediately blocked, the smile is still on his face, 'Don't worry, I'm controlling your blood flow.'

When Shuai finally found the bandages, he was mortified by the scene, Meng's face was so pale, his lips are even trembling, his shirt is completely covered in blood. At this crucial point, Guo was still holding onto the most fragile part, squeezing more blood out.

'Let go of him!' Shuai went over and tugged on Guo's arm, 'You can kill someone.'

Guo pulled Shuai to him with his free hand, hugging him tightly, then calmly told Shuai, 'He'll die when I say so.'

Shuai was scared to death when witnessing Meng's face slowly discolor in front of him, there's a pool of blood, it's almost half the amount of the blood in our body. At this rate, he will be a miracle if he didn't die, so he continued to struggle for a while.

'He won't die,' Guo added.

At this moment, as a doctor, Shuai was actually stunned by Guo's calmness.

In the end, everything just seems like a coincidence, normally the ambulance would arrive after 10 minutes, but now it has arrived within 5 minutes. Once Shuai heard the sirens, not sure where did that force came from, he actually managed to free himself from Guo and went to treat Meng.

Then he moved Guo's hand upwards, making it looks like he's trying to the stop the blood drain, even though the blood is almost entirely squeezed out by Guo.

Guo's gaze altered, at this point of time, Shuai actually remembered him...

The paramedics lifted the dying Meng into the ambulance.

Shuai wanted to board the ambulance too but was stopped by Guo, Wang was told to follow instead.

After the ambulance has left, Shuai sat on the chair looking all sweaty.

Guo picked up the knife on the ground, he couldn't help but wonder if he hadn't come today, who else is this knife prepared for?

After a moment of silence, an eerie voice rang in the room.

'Make a choice: he can die, or let me protect you.'
