Chapter 86        Mother and the Daughter

It was the 6th of August, 2030.

The sun rose as usual, but the world had changed.

Smoke was still coming out from the immigration building of Downtown Manhattan, New York. The fire had burnt the fifteenth, sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth floor completely before being extinguished by the independent operational fire system of the building.

The other gangs camped around the building were warned when they saw the fire – they were now experiencing the cataclysm. They had to be careful with fire as there will be no firefighters who can come to their rescue if fire indeed happened.

The people who successfully escaped the building could only scatter around. Even Zhou Qingfeng and Jenny Braun were hiding to avoid threats. They finally left the building at dawn. Both of them who were terrified and exhausted found a mobile command vehicle that was hiding nearby. They leaped into the vehicle and fell asleep immediately.

After sleeping for two to three hours, Zhou Qingfeng was awakened by the smell of food. He opened his eyes and saw Jenny preparing coffee in a pot in the corner of the lounge. It seemed like a glass of milk was being warmed inside the microwave.

“You’re up?” Jenny turned her head around after hearing some movement. She served him a plate of bread that had been spread with jam and said, “I found some food inside the cabinet, so, I decided to serve you breakfast.”

Zhou Qingfeng went to the bathroom and washed his face after getting out of his bed. Jenny had finished preparing everything when he came out from the bathroom.

“Hey…” Jenny served him a plate of sliced pork sausages the moment he sat down. She even handed him a set of fork and knife. Zhou Qingfeng sighed and said, “You still want me to save your daughter, don’t you?”

Jenny immediately crossed her arms in front of her chest and said pitifully, “Please, I can’t abandon my daughter. There’s no way I could live if she were to face anything unfortunate.”

Zhou Qingfeng was able to escape trouble yesterday because this mature lady who stood in front of him came to his rescue. The girl had a few scars on her body because of it. There was also the terror that she had to go through.

“Alright, I’ll try. I’m not going to save her by myself, but, perhaps I could let the others do it,” Zhou Qingfeng did not eat his breakfast. Instead, he stood up and headed to the communication room of the command vehicle. Jenny jumped towards him and expressed her gratitude repeatedly after she heard the current situation.

The mobile command vehicle that was used by the cops was equipped with advanced communication and command facilities. Zhou Qingfeng first contacted Lena Fox who was still in the clubhouse. He tried to ask about the situation of the building and fortunately, everything was fine.

“Lena, how’s DogMeat?” asked Zhou Qingfeng.

“Everyone over here might have a chance of encountering a problem, but, that’ll never be the case for your good dog.”

Lena Fox, however, felt curious, “Why did you ask, though?”

“I’m planning to let it go to Upper Manhattan; would that be alright?”

“Upper Manhattan? How long would that take?”

Upper Manhattan was around ten kilometers away from the clubhouse. DogMeat could run one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour at his quickest speed. Traffic congestion would not be a problem for DogMeat, too, as it could jump and leap around.

After calculating the approximate time, Zhou Qingfeng replied, “I’ll need it for at most, an hour, or maybe, just half an hour if everything goes smoothly.”

The defense of the clubhouse was weak after Zhou Qingfeng and Butcher departed. DogMeat was the only thing that could defend against any possible threat. Hence, it was extremely risky for Zhou Qingfeng to send it away from the building, even if it was just for half an hour.

However, after some careful consideration, Lena Fox agreed with Zhou Qingfeng’s request. She limited the time to half an hour, “Let it come back as soon as possible. We can’t have it gone for too long.”

“Thanks, I guarantee you that the whole issue isn’t going to drag on for too long.”

Zhou Qingfeng directly contacted DogMeat after he ended his conversation with Lena Fox. DogMeat was equipped with a radio communication device, hence, it was able to receive his order immediately – “Head to the given address in Upper Manhattan and find a girl named Anna.”

DogMeat departed from the clubhouse immediately after receiving the order. It tried its best to sprint towards the direction of Upper Manhattan. As a mother, Jenny Braun, however, started to worry.

Jenny was happy when she finally persuaded Zhou Qingfeng to save her daughter. However, instead of a human being, a dog was sent to save her daughter. She felt worried, even though Zhou Qingfeng told her that it was an extremely powerful dog.

“Trust me, as long as your daughter is still alive, as long as she’s still inside the house, DogMeat would be able to rescue her,” Zhou Qingfeng held her in his arms as he tried to comfort her.

Jenny decided to throw herself into Zhou Qingfeng’s arms and she began to burst into tears, “What if she encounters an unfortunate incident? Or maybe, she left the house? I…”

“Downtown Manhattan has the worst social order across the entire New York because this city is extremely rich and famous. It also has the most number of violent incidents reported because it’s nearest to the infamous Brooklyn. In contrast to that, Upper Manhattan is much safer.”

Only seven or eight minutes had passed when DogMeat barked into the radio communication device. It seemed like it had broken into a house as it raised quite a lot of attention. The scream of a little girl could soon be heard after another two to three minutes.

“Anna! Anna! That’s my daughter’s voice,” Jenny suddenly yelled out with joy. She hugged and kissed Zhou Qingfeng.

The little girl kept shouting in fear as she might have been dangling from DogMeat’s mouth. Jenny was shouting at the radio communication device throughout the whole process, but, the little girl could not hear her at all.

“Jenny! Jenny! Calm down!” Zhou Qingfeng was holding Jenny’s shoulder as he tried to calm her down. “My dog can’t speak and it doesn’t have any speakers. Only DogMeat can hear you scream through the radio communication device, but not Anna.”

Jenny asked with tears, “My daughter has been rescued, right?”

“Yes, she will soon be sent to my partner’s place. Her safety and basic needs would be taken care of over there,” Zhou Qingfeng gave his word.

The whole rescue operation lasted only half an hour. Lena Fox could only contact Zhou Qingfeng once again when she saw a crying little girl dangling from DogMeat’s mouth, heading back to her place. She asked, “Victor, are you a pedophile? Did you order DogMeat to leave this place just to capture a little girl for you? Even though law no longer exists, I hope that you can behave yourself.”

“Isn’t the little girl pretty? She must look like a cute barbie doll,” replied Zhou Qingfeng.

Lena Fox did not understand Zhou Qingfeng’s intentions, but she said, angrily, “If you want a lady, there’s plenty of them over here for you. But, you can’t harass a little girl, that’s too evil! I will not allow you to hurt her.”

Miss Fox hung up the phone angrily. Although Jenny was unclear of Lena’s identity, she was relieved when she realized that her daughter now had a guardian. Meanwhile, Zhou Qingfeng’s evil thoughts started to grow as he looked at the blonde, busty lady and imagined Anna, the cute little Loli.
