Chapter 93: Winding peaks and paths

Ling Xue stood there in a daze, as her beautiful eyes were filled with shock.

I immediately ordered, “Ling Xue, retreat from combat and return to the city!  There’s nothing to do here!”

Ling Xue finally woke up from her daze and couldn’t help saying in a surprised voice, “This boss is too abnormal…..”

This was something that the entire world knew.

The Ancient Ghost General raised his giant sword high up again.  It was unknown who his target was, but there was no doubt that whoever he attacked, they would be instantly killed!

The girls saw this scene and they all stood there in a daze.

I couldn’t help complaining: It’s over, it seems like I can only sacrifice myself…...

“Pa!”

With a sound, a blue light flashed and the Ancient Ghost General was covered in a layer of frost.  The ice arrow’s freezing effect decreased its speed, but when the Ancient Ghost General charged at me, I knew that it was just too fast.  It surpassed me even when it was slowed down, so there was no hope of running!

Ling Xue cried out in shock, “Little fool, you don’t want to live?!”

I gave a bitter smile, “Quickly return to the city!  Me dying alone is better than everyone dying!”

This time I decided to be the big man, since I was the only man in the Xue Yue Studio, so I had to act like a man and hold up Xue Yue.  One of those things was sacrificing myself, although I very much disliked it.

Ling Xue and Purple Rhyme were very hesitant, but Ling Yue said with gritted teeth, “Bookwork, I really have to thank you this time!”

After saying this, Ling Yue turned and gave the order, “Everyone return to the city!  Don’t worry about anything else!”

In the end, Ling Xue was very unwilling as she broke the City Return Scroll.  The unwilling look in her eyes made me feel grateful.

“Shua, shua…..”

With several flashes of white light, the girls safely returned to Sunset City.  As for me, I was left facing a super Dark Gold Boss alone!

The Ancient Ghost General roared in rage, as his eyes filled with despise towards a small existence like me!

“Hu!”

The wind coming from the giant sword seemed like it could distort space itself!

I gritted my teeth and didn’t have time to avoid it, so I used the Glowing Dagger to block it!

“Peng!”

With a crisp sound, the Glowing Dagger was shattered and I thrown high up as I was ripped apart!

“Ding~!”

Combat notification: You have been hit by the Ancient Ghost General and have lost 7240 HP!  You have died!

After that, there was another sound.

“Ding~!”

System notification: Prepared Resurrection has activated and you have been revived on the spot without a single loss!

…...

“Pu!”

I slammed down on the ground.  Although I had been revived, I wasn’t far from my next death.

So I closed my eyes to wait for death as the Ancient Ghost General’s roar of rage reverberated in my ears.

Time passed bit by bit, but I didn’t welcome death.  When I opened my eyes, I found something that filled me with wild joy.

I didn’t fall down on the ground of the main floor, rather I had been knocked into the air by the Ancient Ghost General and had fallen onto a lamp hanging in the air!

The Ancient Ghost General was far away from me and couldn’t hit me at all.  It could only angrily walk around while wildly swinging the sword in its hand!

“Ha, ha, a chance is here!”

I broke out in laughter as I grabbed the lamp with one hand and shot arrows with the other.  With a “sou” sound, an armour piercing arrow flew out to hit the Ancient Ghost General!

This not low damage pleasantly surprised me.  Like this, I could just hang off the lamp and finish this boss!

The Ancient Ghost General couldn’t hit me and could only anxiously wave its sword.

I just landed my attacks one after another on the Ancient Ghost General.  Although the attacks weren’t that strong, it could still slowly kill this Dark Gold Boss!

I looked in my inventory and saw that I had enough potions and arrows, so it was no problem killing the boss.  Even with his quick regen, I believed in my damage output.

At this time, with a “di” sound, Ling Xue sent a message, “Fool!  Are you dead yet…..”

I replied with a smile, “Not yet, are you disappointed?”

Ling Xue immediately asked, “Really?  Then where are you right now?  Bring me out to level!”

I couldn’t help revealing a faint smile, “No rush, I’m still on the seventh floor.  Wait for me to kill this boss.  You can go level with Ling Yue, no need to worry about me!”

“Un, you be careful……”

Less than half a minute after Ling Xue’s message, Ling Yue sent me a message, “You really aren’t dead?  That’s great!  We’ll give you a feast when you come back!”

I explained the situation here and Ling Yue excitedly said, “That’s great, our Xue Yue’s number one expert is finally going to appear!  I’m waiting for your good news, it’s best if you can get a Guild Establishment Token……”

“I already said that bosses who aren’t level 80 won’t drop Guild Establishment Token……”

“You…..really are dumb, you don’t know to comfort me…..”

Ling Yue was still very excited and after comforting me a few times, she went to level with Ling Xue.

Not long after, Purple Rhyme’s message finally came, “Bookworm, I’m really sorry.  It was all because I’m no good and couldn’t help everyone, otherwise you wouldn’t have died…..”

I couldn’t help smiling.  She still didn’t know my situation, so I said with a smile, “Then how is beauty Rhyme planning  to repay me?”

Purple Rhyme said with a smile, “We’ll talk after you get back!  Ghost Fire and Heavenly Punisher are calling me to level, so I’m going first……”

After talking to each of the beauties, I focused myself on killing the Ancient Ghost General, but the boss’ regen really was terrifying.  In close to an hour, I only took off a small part of his HP bar!

I couldn’t help feeling a bit anxious.  The seventh floor was closed for ten hours and it would automatically open after ten hours.  If I couldn’t take care of the boss during this time, it might all be a waste!

Thinking of this, I was much more worried.  I used the armour piercing arrow, fire arrow, and ice arrow as soon as they came off cooldown, increasing my damage output!

Just like this, I went from seven to twelve and half the boss’ HP was taken off!

The girls had already logged off at this time.  Ling Xue was moving into the studio tomorrow and Ling Yue and the others logged off one by one.  Right now I was the only one who played at night in the studio, the other girls were used to logging off before twelve and logging on early in the morning, maintaining twelve hours of gameplay each day.  Ling Yue felt that this was a professional player and worthy of being a part of the studio.

In the cold night, I kept firing arrow after arrow at the Ancient Ghost General.  The Dark Gold Boss wielded his giant sword as he slashed out at the sky!
