Maple looks on the other hooded guys and decided to remove their hoods. It was soon revealed that all of the guys who attacked us are all elves. For some reason, we don't know what to do.

The magic circle started to increase. From 6 layers to 7 layers. After a few moments, it turned into 8 then to 9. After a few more minutes, the moment of truth started. As soon as the tenth layer appeared, roars of different monsters started to growl around the area.

"Here they come!" Maple shouted and activated her magic around her feet. Her feet were covered with several layers of the magic circle and after that, her feet transformed into metallic shoes that from my guesses would be her unique weapon.

I also heightened alert and looked around the dark. Even in the dark, their yellow and red eyes stare into us, ready to deal with attacks with us. Moonlight is still vulnerable as she still closed her eyes with her arms pointed to the "valuables". The incoming attacks appeared out on the shadows and I saw the beasts. Unlike normal animals like tigers and lions, they are much bigger and they looked like huge...rats? My expression turns livid from these rats. I still remember the time these pesky rats chewed one of the wires of my pc causing it to go short circuit and broke down. Now I am seeing a bigger version of them.

Maple quickly gave out lots of kicks as she defended Moonlight from the beasts. The monsters were fast and didn't bother with us. Instead, they are purposely attacking Moonlight alone. Moonlight might be formidable during her battles but she is vulnerable during this time. And since Maple is doing her best to stop the beasts attacking Moonlight, this means that the ritual cannot be stopped.

I helped out from the extermination and killed enemies one by one by roasting them with intense flames. The rats were easy to kill and with just a few fireballs to their eyes and mouth, they would immediately burn to death. From the looks of it, their salivas are flammable.

We did quick work with the rats and finished off the last of them.

"Rest for a while Kazuma and recover your mana. The second wave is almost here. We need to prepare for the worst," Maple said as she concentrated to recover her mana.

I did not go surprised this time. Since the heaviness of the negative energy still lingers around the place, I already know that the enemies will still be arriving by waves. I stare at Moonlight who still concentrates on the "valuables". I wonder if the beasts will be more dangerous this time around.
