I fell back to the ground as I tried to suck in air desperately, my arms are heavy after doing a hundred one push-ups. I have not gone past 50 push-ups in the past and now I am doing it with weights. This is just impossible. I would die in exhaustion with this...

"Kazuma, there is a thing called rest you know? It wouldn't be fine if you die doing a set of push-ups. There is no deadline for doing those things anyway, so why bother? I suggest you to rest and regulate your breathing and take off the fatigue at the same time," Moonlight urged me to stop.

"But... I want... to remove... this necklace... as soon... as possible!"

"Nope, there is no shortcut Kazuma. You still have a few bones left broken and have yet to heal. You shouldn't try yourself go further on your limit. There is no point in doing it if you can't finish your training. Nothing good will happen to you if you continue to disobey," Moonlight explained.

Although I am reluctant to rest, Moonlight has a point. Going to keep on doing the task despite being in your limit would only harm yourself than give contributions instead. And I am doing this to become strong, not to become a cripple.

I stood up and move to the sofa and regulate my breathing. I am too exhausted, it was like I will be drowned if I ever move again. The exhaustion hits hard on my body. Is this how the first time exercise happen? At least you can try again once you are fine and ready to go but limit yourself. A thousand push-ups is a no joking matter to an unathletic guy like you. Keep it slow and steady and you will reach the goal in no time," Moonlight said to me.

As a result, since I am not fit enough and the training is not yet starting, Moonlight and I were stuck in Catmod's lair. He has more extra rooms for guests. The routine continued every day. Of course, I am improving as time goes by. Sure, that I am having trouble at first especially the fatigue that comes after but I soon got used to it. The training is harsh, but it's not that harsh if I should say so myself.

Then, after three months of day and night training, the effort finally paid off. My body started showing changes too, my abs are developing and my muscles are also getting firmer. I also feel myself get taller a bit than my usual height. And according to Moonlight and Catmod, I managed to reach Rank 1: Mage already which is not surprising to me. I can also recover at a faster rate and the fatigue is not so hard to deal with unlike when I was just starting. Who would have thought that I would manage to get to that set of Rank by doing intense training? But then, here comes the new part, since I have managed to get the trials of Catmod, the next part now is commencing which is going to be announced by Catmod.

"Are you ready now Kazuma? I will be announcing the next task you need to do. You did well in training yourself to this point. I hope you will be ready, I hope?" Catmod adjusted his monocle and put his two paws behind his back.

I stood still and smiled. I have come this far, why would I back out? Of course, push on!

"I am ready and whenever time possible, I would always be ready to go," I said to him.

"Alright then, I am going to give you the task. I hope you can last a day from me. Your next task is to fight me and stood on the ground without falling. If you fell, then you need to try again tomorrow. Of course, the rules also apply to me, not only you. If I fall over after your attack, then you will pass this round. Are we clear?" Catmod smiled.

"Yes," I nodded. Fighting against Catmod? I think that would be fine! I think I can now pass the test.

I was not expecting a very strong attack on that but I was too overconfident as I was sent flying to the east side of the arena. My back harshly got rekt by Catmod which pretty hurts. Luckily, the attack allowed me to shield myself and I still stood on the ground. I run on the west side of the arena to take my time and wear my gloves but as usual, Catmod appears next to me and strikes me, causing me to stop the movement and I can't equip the gloves.

Catmod started to get ruthless and before I can even dodge, different kinds of blows hit my body hard, and none of them are magic skills, they are all physical attacks! I tried defending but my defense is rather weak. Before I knew it, I am now lying on the ground, without anything retaliation.

"See you tomorrow Kazuma. Train well, and you might be able to bring me down and fight back," and Catmod turned his back away from me and left the arena.

I lay there weakly, without knowing what happened. I was pinned easily without any kind of effort.

Moonlight snaps her fingers and we returned to the same lair of Catmod.

"Better luck next time Kazuma."
