"Hello, Nekoyamsama. Did you receive the direct message I sent you about Kazuma's training this morning?" Moonlight bowed and asked Catmod.

"Indeed, that is why I did not bother to send one of my underlings to welcome the two of you and decided to welcome your arrival by myself," Catmod bowed down like a gentleman in a tuxedo. This cat only lacks the moustache and he would look like a butler in many rich mansions. 

I keep rubbing my eyes. Although I have seen many strange phenomenas since I became a magician, why the heck did most of the things happening are all weird?! Where is the normality now in here?

"Am I dreaming? Or this is just a meer illusion tricking my eyes?" I looked at Moonlight to confirm what is going on. At least, from her tone, she is quite aware who Catmod is since she is quite calm.

"No Kazuma. You are not dreaming. A talking cat is really having a conversation with you," Catmod said as he adjust his monocle a bit using his black hands...I mean, claws.

"Catmod is a Bakeneko 1 . He can assume both human and cat form depending on his mood. But I rarely see Nekoyamsama go into his human form and he is mostly on his cat form all the time. He prefers the cat form over human I think?" Moonlight tilted her head. 

"I appreciate your explanation Moonlight. I am indeed prefering the cat form than the human form. Although it is a good form being a human, I still prefer the cat form due to the fact that I can perform most tasks that can be done by a human. Also, cat forms can also do things that the human form can't which makes it a bit more on the edge. The senses are also great if I am in the cat form than in the human form," Catmod explained.

I nodded at his explanation. What he said make sense. Cats had some extraordinary abilities that humans lack like night vision, enhanced hearing and smelling and silent footsteps that is hard for normal humans to get. I really get what he was talking about.

Catmod led us in to the ruins. Although it is a ruins, we are in a mountain area full of vegetation due to the greenery expanse which is quite puzzling because I have mostly seen in internet that most places like this would be full of rocks instead of trees. In this place, its the opposite. I also see lots of people in here. Most of them are wearing magician robes due to the runes embroidened to their robes that is mostly used in enchantment. Yaya's clothes has them too and occasionally, I see Volta's clothes sometimes emit a faint light from a rune but I am not sure.

"Don't be surprised Kazuma. We are not the only people in this ruins. Many magicians train here to temper their body and soul and test their very limits. Its quite natural to find other Magicians here," Catmod looked at me while adjusting his monocle.

"I see, so this place is not limited to me?" I asked.

"Of course not. This very ruins exist for the sole purpose of training newbie magicians like who have little to no battle experience build it up slowly. Its a perfect place for magicians to enhance their magic and spellcasting. I know that you are already someone who managed to defeat a rogue magician named Onizuka but I know that it was just a fluke. If you don't properly train, then you will die," Catmod explained.

"Will I start the training right away?" I asked.

"No, not yet. Today, you had to practice your spellcasting and your magic durability. Moonlight specifically called me to train you out. Although I trust Moonlight's capabilities in training, she said that you are someone who has immense potential that she has no idea how to train you anymore. The only problem is the way you execute your spells. Its so newbie and you can hardly predict attacks. It is not from a ruin at all. The place is decorated with many luxurious things and the floor is in tiles while the pillars are all painted shiny gold. There are also statues of gold cat with emerald colored eyes. I am not sure if they are real gold and the eyes of the cat also looked similar to a real emerald but I don't really know because I am not an expert in gems like that. There was a long staircase which is divided into two and a second floor too. At the center of the two staircase is a grand door that I assume to be Catmod's dining room or his living room depending on him.

"Welcome to my humble abode, Kazuma and Moonlight. Please feel at home and don't be shy to ask me any questions and needs," Catmod said.

"Umm, I want to ask questions, may I?" I looked at Catmod.

"Go ahead!"

"Is this part of the ruins? I am not sure if we are in the ruins or not."

Catmod looked around the place and spread his paws wide.

"This place is a ruins at first but due to the fact that I became a guardian of this place and I am always bored, I decided to make this place as my special abode. I converted all of the broken pillars and broken floors and walls in my own design. Of course, this is now my lair if I say so myself."

"One last thing?" I raised my index finger.

"Sure thing."

"Why you don't say meow every last part of your sentence? I mean, you are a cat," I asked unconsciously.

"..." Moonlight.

"...Hey now, although I am a cat, I don't meow at all and speak in human tongue and besides, why do I have to do that? I am not a real cat that does that, don't ask me that question again or I will raise the difficulty of your training 100 fold," Catmod smiled. Although he have shown a kind smile, it was pretty sinister which is a thing I don't want to imagine.

Moonlight leaned near my ear and whispered, "You should have taken that question to yourself Kazuma. Luckily, Nekoyamsama dismissed it or else you won't like it."

Catmod led us further upstairs. The upstairs are more spacious and grand than the ground floor. The living room is also located in this place too which is also grand. There was a flat screen television, a chandelier, sofa set, glass table with grand gold sculpture as its legs, the cat sculpture of gold and an aquarium of fishes swimming freely on the big aquarium that seems to surround the entire roof of the place. There was also a window too that seems to see the expanse of the place.

"Sit down first Kazuma and drink my tea," Catmod beckons me over the table and I already saw a tea set in the table. Moonligh is already sipping her tea.

I approached and just as I was almost there on the sofa, I can smell the fragrant aroma of tea that seems to lift my spirit up. Although I am not a person who liked to drink tea, I am aware what is a good tea and a bad tea and from what I can smell, this tea is quite a high class one. Catmod waved his paws and the teacup was immediately filled without the porcelain kettle filling it.

"This is a tea I specially grown in my private garden and I am the one who processed it so you can rest assured that it was not harmful tea. This can enhance your body recovery in the process. I can see in your body that some of your bones are still not fully healed which would be troublesome later in your training. Drink and be revitalized,"Catmod said and waved his hands again and the teacup flew towards me.

I accepted the tea and the fragrant aroma permeated my nostrils. This aroma is so soothing that I calm my nerves and I am sure that I seemed to have never felt this light before. I took a small sip and I was surprised to feel like my whole body had been renewed. It was like in a snap and all the injuries that I still feel in my body is now gone!

Catmod is really something else! Bakeneko is a type of Japanese yōkai, or supernatural creature. According to its name, it is a cat that has changed into a yōkai. It is often confused with the nekomata, another cat-like yōkai, and the distinction between the two can often be quite ambiguous.
