Chapter 418 The country's first compressor research center
As the saying goes, a big meeting is held for small matters and a small meeting is held for big matters.
After that small meeting of ten people, the general technical direction of Turbofan 10 was basically determined.
In this way, most of the issues that really need to be left to the meeting of all key members are some organizational issues.
However, despite having made sufficient mental preparations before, the difficulty and complexity of actually taking charge of an entire project far exceeded Chang Haonan's initial imagination.
Even without encountering any obvious internal resistance, it still took him almost half a month to finally allocate the core research and development tasks involved in the Turbofan 10 project.
The deadline was fully doubled from the original plan.
Of course, for China's aerospace development researchers, things like doubling the delay were basically routine in the past...
So it's not a big problem.
Fortunately, everything is difficult at the beginning, but the subsequent work is much easier to sort out, and the entire project team is gradually getting on the right track.
For Chang Haonan during this period, in addition to the overall design of the header turbofan 10, the first thing he had to complete was to build a specialized small high-speed adsorption compressor test bed.
TORCHMultiphysics can indeed conduct numerical calculations and simulations of design solutions with a very high degree of fidelity, but this is only for the design process, and the content involved must have existing theories or at least engineering foundations in the past.
It is an international initiative to apply the boundary layer suction principle to the design of compressor blades. Therefore, Chang Haonan not only has to complete the turbofan 10 project, but also has to improve the theoretical content in this area so that latecomers can do it. Just know why.
On the other hand, even if the entire design process can be completed on a computer in the future, the finished product will always have to be tested on a real machine before it can be finalized.
This is not only a national standard, but also the bottom line of aviation safety.
If you just rely on "I Xunsi" to design, sooner or later there will be problems.
However, this test bed equipment cannot be placed in Shengjing.
Because the data calculations it generates require extremely high computing power to complete the analysis, and neither the 606 Institute nor the 601 Institute currently has a supercomputer on hand that meets the requirements.
So in the end we had to arrange it at Beijing Hang University.
At this moment, the happiest person is naturally Tang Lintian.
When he heard Chang Haonan, who was rushing back to the capital after a long journey, talking about this matter, he almost reflexively jumped up from his chair and strode to the latter.
Had it not been for Zhu Yadan standing in an imposing posture next to him, Chang Haonan had no doubt that the other person would hug him and kiss him a few times.
“Comrade Haonan, tell me, what kind of support do you need from the school? Even if all the teachers and staff of the school dig into their own pockets to advance the money, your request will definitely be met!”
If a university wants to develop, in addition to high-level researchers and sufficient funding, there is another item that is easily overlooked, which is some irreplaceable experimental equipment.
Especially for the engineering field, these equipments often require large investments, long cycles, and relatively narrow applicable fields. Once a set is built in a country, or at least in a region, it is difficult to make the decision to repeat the construction, so within a certain range All research groups engaged in related research will be physically concentrated around this single seedling.
Institutions that own such equipment can naturally gain huge benefits from it. At least a part of the research results must be shared, and a name must be added to the signature.
Over time, it has formed a leading position in this discipline or direction.
Of course, there are other reasons why Tang Lintian, who has always been relatively stable, became so out of control.
Before this, Beijing Hang University had suffered a setback in the construction of a school-level wind tunnel laboratory. It got up early but ended up late -
Although the predecessor of Beijing Hang University, Beijing Aviation College, was founded in 1952, it soon owned four then-very advanced scaled-down wind tunnels D1-D4 by moving in and building it by itself. Among them, D4 wind tunnel was fully involved in the process. The development work of my country's first light passenger aircraft "Jingcheng No. 1".
However, in the following decades, Beijing Hang University did not build newer wind tunnel facilities, and was eventually overtaken by Northwestern Polytechnical University in this regard.
One step at a time, one step at a time. Although Beijing Airlines later tried to catch up with its competitors in this regard, the situation did not improve much until the 1990s.
The main reason is that in this year and year, there are not many research projects in China that can use wind tunnels. For large national projects, the 29 base in Fucheng can be used for testing, so the application for the construction of new wind tunnels submitted by Beijing Airlines has always been Unable to pass, we can only make repairs based on the D4 wind tunnel that has been used for 40 years.
And this test bed plan brought by Chang Haonan from Shengjing can completely serve as a new track for Beijing Hang University.
"Well... there is no need to be so exaggerated as selling iron. This test bench is part of the Turbofan 10 project. It does not require funding from the school. All I need is to give me a place. It would be better if the area is larger." Chang Haonan looked a little too enthusiastic. Tang Lintian couldn't help but take half a step back.
“Hey, how can that be done? The school must support your work, Comrade Haonan.”
Tang Lintian directly stretched out his hands and held Chang Haonan's hand:
“I think it's better to take this opportunity to establish a compressor research center. You don't have to worry about funding. Except for the funding related to the No. 10 Project, the remaining vacancies will be filled by the school!”
Chang Haonan was a little surprised by the other party's sudden generosity.
"Dean Tang, isn't this a bit too aggressive..."
After all, in his impression, his school was not so tight in the late 1990s, at least it was not so wealthy.
“In any case, the school could have so much surplus funds in the first half of this year because it borrowed your money and used these funds to support your work, which is what it should be..."
Tang Lintian quickly explained, fearing that Chang Haonan would not want the money.
For Beijing Airlines, no matter what new research field they want to engage in, passing the approval is the most difficult part. And now that Chang Haonan has a sword like the Taihang Project in his hand, what approval can he still fail to pass?
As for money, that's even more trivial—
When the research team is awarded a horizontal project, the funding it receives will basically be plucked once by the school.
The proportion varies from one quarter to one half.
Of course, the funds for people like Du Yishan or Chang Haonan must be fully paid.
But in the past year, under the leadership of the latter, other research groups in the school have also received many more projects than in previous years.
There are not only vertical topics from higher-level units, but also horizontal topics provided by many state-owned enterprises and even private enterprises.
Accordingly, the school reluctantly made a lot of money from it.
Sponsoring a research center is no longer unthinkable.
“Then… let's build three of these compressor test benches at the same time.”
Since the other party's hospitality was hard to refuse, Chang Haonan was no longer polite.
"OK."
Tang Lintian nodded.
“The designed single-stage pressure ratios are 1.4, 1.6 and 2.4 respectively, corresponding to the upper speed limit of the blade tip of 150m/s, 300m/s and 600m/s respectively.”
"Listen to you."
Tang Lintian nodded again.
“In addition, I also need a large test bed with non-contact scanning temperature measurement equipment, as well as corresponding fuel pipelines and ignition equipment, and the operating temperature must reach at least 1600°C.”
This obviously has nothing to do with the compressor as a cold-end component, but Chang Haonan's preparation for subsequent turbine research.
This level of extravagance made Zhu Yadan, who could not understand the conversation between the two, a little worried.
But Tang Lintian glanced at Chang Haonan, hesitated for half a second and gritted his teeth:
“Also.”
“That's a deal!”
Chang Haonan stretched out his other hand with satisfaction:
"But my energy is really limited now. Please let my teacher be in charge of this experimental center."
"make a deal."
The four hands of the two people were tightly clasped together.
