Chapter 7.1: Deep Sleep

When the light beams passed her, Duanmu Xi felt as if she had been pierced by countless sharp arrows, and an innumerable number of tiny small wounds appeared all over her body, every single one of those wounds trickling out a small trace of blood.

"Ungh….."

Duanmu Xi bit on her lip hard, but the bone piercing pain still caused her to let out a soft groan.

The Water Qilin looked at Duanmu Xi who had suddenly rushed forward, taken aback with surprise.

To think that someone would risk their own life so readily for a contracted spirit pet.

Seeing the small figure standing there all covered in blood, the Snow Wolf's body began to exude a chilling murderous aura that stemmed from deep down inside.

[I have to save her. I must save her.]

The Snow Wolf closed its eyes and endured the intense pain wrecking at it as it focused its mental powers to break the seal inside its body.

"Mistress….."

Little Shadow called out in surprise, her heart aching for her Mistress.

"You dare hurt my Mistress, I'll fight you with everything I have!"

Little Shadow turned and glared fiercely at the Water Qilin, charging straight towards it.

"Little Shadow….."

Duanmu Xi tried to raise her hand to stop Little Shadow, but she was not able to lift her hand at all.

'Bam.' Little Shadow's wings turned into fists and it struck the Water Qilin viciously on its eye.

Don't judge Little Shadow just by her teensy size, her strength was not weak at all. With just one punch, the Water Qilin's left eye immediately swelled up.

"You! You're courting your own death!"

The Water Qilin was once again enraged. It opened its jaws wide and a great pillar of water shot out.

Seeing that the great big pillar of water was about to crash right onto herself, Little Shadow closed her eyes, resigned to her fate.

When she saw that Little Shadow had decided to embrace death, Duanmu Xi's heart suddenly quivered and she did not know where that kind of strength came from, Duanmu Xi rushed forward quick as lightning to hold Little Shadow in a tight embrace.

'Bam…..'

The great pillar of water struck and sent Duanmu Xi flying out, and she then crashed heavily to the ground.

Duanmu Xi curled up her body tightly from the immense pain. But no matter how painful it was, her arms were still tightly wrapped around Little Shadow.

"I….. will not allow….. you to leave me behind."

The weak but resolute voice, caused Little Shadow's eyes to become red and puffy.

Mystical sprites do not shed tears, but it really felt like crying right at that moment.

"Mistress, I'm sorry….."

The choked voice was filled with guilt and remorse. If she had not gone to provoke the Water Qilin, her Mistress would not have been dragged in together with her.

"I'm alright."

Duanmu Xi hugged Little Shadow tight and struggled to stand up before she stared coldly at the Water Qilin.

[That useless piece of trash is still able to stand up after taking two blows from the high level techniques he had executed. Interesting. I would really like to see how many more of my techniques you can withstand.]
