The Evolving Stealth System Chapter 7: Mutation

"Are you serious? Is there a faster way...?" Duncan shouldn't be impatient since he was technically immortal in his skeleton form, but he'd learn to complete missions as fast as possible at the academy. Hence, there must be something around here that would increase his maximum speed...

[Ding! It is possible for host to compete in more battles to increase speed by leveling up... However, it is recommended that host just run... According to system analysis, competing in battles will not get you to mission waypoint faster...]

"Hmmm, what about those birds from earlier?"

[Ding! The birds host is referring to are skeleton bats, and he would die in battle with the older skeleton bats as they are considered a much higher class skeleton... However, the database contains information on young skeleton bats. If host can acquire young skeleton bats, he may be able to develop connectivity necessary for skeleton wings for his back...]

"So... are you saying that skeleton bats have children?"

[Ding! System is unsure of how skeleton bats engender children, but host can be assured they are created by two skeleton bats engaging in a searching activity...]

Searching activity?

He knew the Netherworlds were different, but they weren't searching for each other?

Then... how did they bond, and was he really considered killing baby skeleton bats?

Yes, of course!

The demons in his universe were constantly devouring humans to increase their power level, and he was only going to kill some improperly manufactured children if he could find them! Plus, he didn't have a stomach, and this decision came fairly easily to him.

"So, system... where is the closest nesting spot?"

[Ding! System will begin examining nearby territories for any sign of young demonic essence that is currently incubating in the development stage...]

[Search will take approximately five minutes to complete in a 2 mile radius... Currently at 15% complete...]

Duncan took a deep fake breathe as it was a human habit to do so. He then made his way up to the top of the canyon as the system kept scanning the area.

This was definitely not a place he'd want to grow up, and the sky looked like someone vomited out clouds. If he had to compare it something on earth, the sky was like a mud puddle, and his presence was like a little dust of sand in that puddle.

He hadn't felt this small in such a long time.

Being a transcendent cultivator made him feel larger then his neighbors, and sometimes caused him to take on missions that nearly got him killed.

He also wasn't too satisfied with the red sky behind the vomit clouds, but finally his system went from 99% to 100% in its search.

[Ding! Host is in luck... Directly below host there is a cave, which is not that dangerous for Host... It seems that the skeleton bats fled after seeing the light, and their unfinished children are completely unprotected...]

[Would host like to go kill some incubating skeleton bats?]

That name caused him to twinge and hesitate on the operation for a second, but of course he had to go kill the little bats! If he didn't go, what would be left besides running for 31 hours, and these babies were probably really ugly and evil by nature...

He jumped down into the cave as some pretty glowing rocks winded and flowed him all the way to the nest... When he arrived at the nest, he couldn't help but gulp at one gigantic weird looking egg in front of him...

It looked like these parents were ambitious, and wanted to create an army of babies.

Now he really didn't feel guilty about picking off the steel bone from his rib as he walked towards it with happy steps on rocky moral ground.

Skeleton Incubation Egg

Level: 0

Health 500 / 500

When he saw the health of the skeleton incubation egg, he began to feel even happier until he experienced memories from his child hood.

In his other life, his little sister washed up dead with a missing foot on the beach shore...

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

In memory of his sister, he hit the poor skeleton bat incubation egg for - 30 health. As for the other 25 hits, they were for various people who were killed, and when it had one Health left he noticed the sound of wings fluttering into the cave.

In fact, the skeleton bats just returned after going to pluck up some extra bone essence for their children, and a bone hit Duncan on the head as he swung down.

He could only throw his newly rewarded steel rib bone into the egg as he wondered if it would hit.

It spun as the skeleton bats held out their arms trying to stop it...

Of course, it was a pretty big egg, and the steel rib bone immediately caused the egg to burst.

[Ding! Congratulations! Host has destroyed the skeleton bat incubation egg, and received 150 strains of the skeleton bat, 150 / 10]

[Since host has killed so many baby skeleton bats he can now become skeleton bat or choose to mutate... Host is also reminded that he is currently up against level 13 skeleton bats and he just killed their children...]

"Shoot! System... I guess I don't have time to think! Please activate the mutation... and wormy save me again!"

Duncan used summon flesh worm as it arrived in front of the skeleton bats...

It immediately quivered seeing two bird looking beasts, and saw its life flash before its eyes...

However, with the command from its master... it jumped right at the two bird looking skeleton bats, and right towards their face...

[Ding! Flesh Worm has dealt 25 damage to one skeleton bat!]

[Ding! Flesh Worm avoided one attack by the beak of the skeleton bat!]

[Ding! Flesh Worm was almost just eaten, and luckily poisoned the skeleton bat!]

[Ding! Flesh Worm has entered into the mouth of the skeleton bat, and is currently being eaten...]

Duncan looked at his user interface which explained the brave battle of a worm versus two bats, which gave him time to chose to gain two mutated pairs of wings on his back.

[Ding! Host has turned into a skeleton bat soldier (mutated}... Hosts power level has increased to 300 / 625....]

[Host has gained the ability to fly, and is reminded that two level 13 skeleton bats are very mad at him...]
