Scarlet Rose [ABO] – What Happens When the Villain Dies at the Beginning? (18)
He had originally planned to deal with them after visiting the south, but didn't expect Neptune to act earlier and sabotage his aircraft, causing him to crash and die.
And Neptune, with Cassia's help, faked a will and ascended the throne.
“An unfaithful woman and a despicable schemer killed a great wise king.” Payne couldn't suppress his cold laugh and pointed at the bed in the room, asking angrily, “Mother Empress, you sleep on this bed that you shared with Father Emperor before, do you not get nightmares?”
“Shut up!” Cassia screamed, crawling up with her hair in disarray as she cried, holding her chest, “You think I wanted that? I had no choice! I didn't love your father! But just because he needed a good childbearing Omega, he marked me regardless of how much I resisted! He might be a great father in your eyes, but in my heart, he's just a shameless rapist!”
“In my memories, Father Emperor had always been good to you. No matter what you wanted, he would give it to you, no matter how cold you acted.” Payne finally couldn't maintain his calm expression as grief and indignation showed in his eyes, “But not only did you betray him, you cooperated with that schemer to kill him!”
Cassia sobbed, “I didn't . . . I definitely didn't want to kill your father.”
“But now, Neptune has pointed his gun toward me.” Payne pointed at his heart. “Husband and son, only one can live. Whose side will you stand on? If you still choose love, then I won't hate you. I'm willing to walk straight to Neptune and let him kill me.”
“No!” Cassia grabbed onto Payne like she was insane, looking up at him with tears in her eyes. She didn't know when her child had become so similar to the late Emperor, not only in appearance, but also in temperament.
That's right, Payne was his child after all. Just like the late Emperor, he had a cold and oppressive heart under his gentle exterior.
Cassia tried to touch Payne's face, her deep blue eyes full of sadness, “I definitely won't let anyone hurt you! You're my child, the flesh from nine months of pregnancy, how could I watch you die!”
“But I know the truth now! Do you think his Majesty would still let me go?” Payne's expression was taut yet resolute as he coldly declared, “Even if he's willing, I'm not willing to forgive him! I will personally kill him and send him to the bottom of the Yellow Springs to confess all of his actions to Father Emperor!”
Cassia had already cried herself into a puddle, not a trace of the dignity or elegance she normally carried herself with as she sobbed, “Why do you have to do this? I can beg him to not hurt you . . .”
“There will be a banquet in the palace in three days. I'll be making my move then.” Payne patted Cassia's shoulder and smiled sadly. “I've already told you my plan. It's up to you to decide if you want a husband or son.”
Payne left the building. At the same time, in another area, Neptune's chamberlain, Gu Zhong, was reporting to him Payne's actions over the past few days.
There was a holographic display on the desk, where the appearance and identity of everyone who had entered Payne's manor was shown.
Neptune wasn't looking at the screen. He had his head lowered as he calmly wiped an old revolver.
“Has he come out of the Empress's place?” Neptune asked Gu Zhong.
Gu Zhong opened his smartwatch and checked it. “Yes.”
Neptune stopped wiping and fell silent, before saying humorously, “What do you think he talked to the Empress about?”
“I can go check right now.”
“No need, I can guess. The child has grown and his wings have hardened. He'll be wanting to avenge his father.” Neptune waved his hand and sneered mockingly. “He's just come back and went to see the Prime Minister as well as the Empress, as if he's deliberately telling people his plans. He already knows how his father died, and will certainly lose his temper and want to tell everyone what his uncle did. There's a banquet in three days and all kinds of powerful people will attend. That would be the best time for him to act.”
The loyal chamberlain immediately asked, “Then you do already have a plan?”
Neptune spun the revolver in his hand, asking Gu Zhong with a smile, “Do you know what this is?”
Gu Zhong answered solemnly, “A revolver. A double action, non-automatic revolver. An old weapon that has long been discarded.”
Neptune opened the chamber and loaded in a bullet. He turned the chamber a few times before aiming it right at his temple.
Before Gu Zhong could gasp in fear, Neptune had already pulled the trigger five times!
But there were only five “kacha” sounds, and no bullet flew out.
This revolver had six slots, and the first five were actually the empty ones. Neptune was really lucky.
Gu Zhong was so scared he broke out in cold sweat, asking incredulously, “Your Majesty, what is this?!”
Neptune casually shrugged, opening the chamber with a shake and taking out the bullet inside between his fingertips.
“Don't worry, I've modified this gun. No matter how many times you spin it, the bullet will only shoot at the last shot.”
Gu Zhong let out a sigh of relief, “So it's like this, this subject was almost scared to death.”
Neptune lightly laughed. “Have you heard of a game?”
Gu Zhong was confused, “What?”
“It's a game where you put your life on the line. You put a bullet in a revolver and aim it at your head. The two sides take turns shooting. The first person to die loses.” Neptune threw the gun to Gu Zhong, “On the day of the banquet, I'll have someone do this with Payne. At that time, you need to bring this gun out.”
