Rondon thought about it, his identity as a spy had already been exposed. He would die if he did put the gun down, as Payne would return alive, and would fail to follow his orders. So why not take his chance and fight?

Payne calmly got out of the bed, using his pheromones to control Rondon.

Payne's expression was cold and there wasn't a hint of warmth in his eyes, “Who sent you?”

Rondon didn't answer. Payne released even more pheromones, enough to almost make Maupay kneel.

Alphas were very repulsed by other Alphas' pheromones, because they acted as a kind of mental torture.

And when faced with the pheromones of a much stronger Alpha, they couldn't control the fear and panic that would come over them.

Rondon was completely prostrated on the ground. Other than the rise and fall of his back, he didn't seem much different from a dead dog.

Payne understood. His biological uncle, the person who stole his position as Emperor, sold him out to another devil.

That was why this operation was sure to fail, and he was doomed to be a prisoner of Blood Owl.

But Lu Shijin was innocent! The hostage there should be him, not Lu Shijin!
