Two of Jiang Changdai's front teeth were knocked off, one of her hands was fractured. Of both her legs, one of her kneecaps had been crushed. It should be able to recover after surgery without affecting knee movements such as walking or bending. However, Jiang Changdai was not young anymore. Her recovery rate would not be as quick as a younger person. It would affect her daily life greatly.

She watched Jiang Changdai in bed. She looked helpless while in her state of anesthesia. Yan Zhiqing had mixed emotions, she did not know what to say to her.

"Let's go back first. You can't be sitting here for too long. You can visit again when you feel better," said Yan Beicheng as he looked at Jiang Changdai indifferently. There was no sign of emotions on his face, as if the Jiang Changdai, who was lying on the hospital bed wrapped up like a mummy, was not related to him at all.

Yan Zhiqing no longer felt any resentment towards Yan Beicheng's attitude of Jiang Changdai. She accepted it calmly because even for her, she did not feel too much sadness towards Jiang Changdai's sorry condition. Jiang Changdai would have been able to take care of her husband and her children, and in return, have a responsible husband and enjoy the luxury that the Yan family could have brought her.

Old Lady Yan took a sip of the water Lin Chu poured for her, which was a perfect temperature. She placed the glass on the table and said, "I'll say this out loud first. When it comes to Jiang Changdai, it's already very kind of me to not wish her dead. Both of you are her children. If you would like to take care of her, there is nothing much I can say about it. If you insist on it, I will not object, but I'd like to voice out first that I won't agree to it. I understand Beicheng well, you won't bother with her. Zhiqing, I know you've lived with her for 18 years and have strong ties with her. You won't be able to just let her be. You can take care of her, but the Yan family will not help you with it. If you are unhappy with this old lady for making this decision, I'll accept it. I refuse to help her out with anything."

Old Lady Yan was disgusted over Jiang Changdai's actions, she trembled with anger. She was an old woman and was smaller in height compared to when she was younger. Old Lady Yan's may still be healthy, but she was still considered weak compared to young people. It was worrying to see her tremble so much in anger.

Lin Chu quickly went over to help Old Lady Yan. She was worried that something might happen to Old Lady Yan.

Old Master Yan walked over silently as he held onto Old Lady Yan's shoulders. He patted her shoulder gently.

Lin Chu moved quietly away as he did so. She glanced at Yan Beicheng but looked away immediately when he caught her watching him.

Lin Chu lowered her head in embarrassment as if she was just caught peeping. Her eyes lowered to look at her own feet, but she slowly glanced towards Yan Beicheng's pants and moved her gaze to the tip of his feet.

She suddenly saw one of his feet move as he tapped the floor gently with the tip of his foot. Then, she felt him grab her hand.

For some reason, Lin Chu blushed as her heart beat faster. She felt like she went back in time to when she had just gotten to know him before their relationship had started. Back then, she had feelings for him but felt a little scared about him.

She held tightly to Yan Beicheng's hands as Lin Chu's face reddened slightly. She remembered Jiang Changdai lying in the ward and held on even tighter to Yan Beicheng's hand.

She had no idea what Yan Beicheng thought about all these. Since Old Lady Yan had already professed her thoughts out loud, Yan Beicheng would never do anything to hurt Old Lady Yan's heart.

She looked over to Yan Zhiqing and realized she was acting calm over this. Yan Zhiqing said, "I've thought about this. My mum does not need the Yan family's help. She still has her family, doesn't she? There's also the Lu family. She no longer has ties with the Yan family. There's no reason for the Yan family to help."

The way Jiang Changdai's brain worked was such a joke.

On one hand, she was in such a hurry to draw the line between herself and the Yan family. On the other hand, she did not want to give up the riches and status provided by the Yan family. That was the reason why she had brought Yan Zhiqing home every year. Lin Chu did not know what Yan Beicheng was thinking, but she felt he was planning something big for them.

The mentor looked mature and gentle while the intern had a sunny personality and was a handsome fellow. They were a sight for sore eyes.

Yan Beicheng, however, raised his eyebrow at the doctor.

"Miss Yan's attending doctor is on leave today. I'll be temporarily in charge of his patients today," said the doctor.

Lin Chu glanced at the name tag on his white coat. It read 'Yue Jingchen'. The intern behind him was named Feng Jinsu.

Yue Jingchen had brought along Yan Zhiqing's patient record. He said, "Miss Yan is doing well in recuperation. Theoretically, she is only allowed to be discharged after the wound on her back is healed. Lin Chu was already feeling nervous when he came near her. She was starting to feel hot all over. When he gave her that sudden peck, it was all she could do to stop herself from covering her ears and attract attention from the others.

No one seemed to notice what had just happened as they were all occupied with watching Yan Huaian. So, she brazenly glared at Yan Beicheng with an annoyed look.

That look made Yan Beicheng feel weak all over, he felt a passionate fire raging from his abdomen and moving its way up. He held her hand tightly and said, "It's been a tiring day, I'm looking forward to relaxing when we get home."

Lin Chu was aware of what he meant. She blushed furiously and wished she could kick him in the leg. He should think about where they were right now. There were so many people around, someone might hear his words if he said it out loud!
