Lin Chu nodded and followed Yan Beicheng to the door.

Yan Zhiqing rang the doorbell and Old Lady Yan appeared at the intercom.

Old Lady Yan saw the three of them through the screen and said to Yan Beicheng, "Cheng'er, dinner is almost ready. Can you go next door and get Ningbai and Jingxi back here?"

Yan Beicheng nodded. He turned to go but suddenly Old Lady Yan said, "Have… Have you brought it with you?"

Old Lady Yan sounded shy as she asked this question.

It was not often that Old Lady Yan would sound embarrassed. Lin Chu and Yan Zhiqing did not quite understand what Old Lady Yan had meant by 'it' in her words.

Yan Beicheng discreetly touched his pocket. It was a hot day and he was not wearing his suit after work. He had on his white shirt and he had taken his tie off and a few buttons were unbuttoned on his shirt. It showed off his exquisite collarbone.

His shirt sleeves were folded up to right under his arms, revealing his slender, muscled arms. He looked casually dapper and handsome.

He nodded at Old Lady Yan.

Old Lady Yan opened the door for Lin Chu and Yan Zhiqing and turned towards Old Master Yan to say, "All Cheng'er did was nod. He didn't even say a thing. Does he know what I was referring to?"

Old Master Yan was making a list of wedding guests. It was filled with the names of his old friends. Old Lady Yan would be making her list.

At the words, he looked up with his reading glasses and gave Old Lady Yan a quick look, "Cheng'er is a smart boy. Would he not understand you?"

Old Lady Yan gave it a thought and walked over as she nodded, "You're right."

Yan Beicheng rang the Nan family's doorbell next door. When Aunt Huang saw that it was Yan Beicheng. She felt quite conflicted, "Oh, it's Master Yan. Do come in."

Yan Beicheng walked in the door. Yan Ningbai and Mo Jingxi had heard Aunt Huang from the dining room and were now running toward him.

But Yan Beicheng still came into the house and gave his respects to the two elders of the Nan family.

"I'm here to pick up the two children home. I'm sorry for the inconvenience that the both of them have given you," Yan Beicheng said as he stood tall in the dining room. He was gentle and acted maturely with his poise and tone.

"Don't worry about it. I won't keep the children much longer then," Old Lady Nan smiled.

Hurry up and leave!

Yan Beicheng smiled and as he bent over, something fell out from the pocket of his pants. Yan Beicheng was quick to grab hold of it before it fell to the ground.

He did not seem to know what it was. When he grabbed onto it, he smiled in realization, "My marriage license fell out."

Old Lady Nan, "…"

Nan Jingheng, "…"

Yan Beicheng was about to put it away when he paused. He turned to look at Nan Jingheng, "You haven't seen it before, have you? Do you want to take a look at it?"

Nan Jingheng almost threw his chopsticks into Yan Beicheng's face. "You've shared it in our group chat."

Yan Beicheng raised an eyebrow. "Oh, that was only the cover. You haven't seen the inside, have you?"

He walked over to him as he said it. He flipped the marriage license open for Nan Jingheng to take a look and quickly closed it up again as if one more look would cost him money.

He turned towards Old Lady Nan and asked respectfully, "Would you like to take a look as well?"

Old Lady Nan's lips twitched as she said, "I have my own too."

Yan Beicheng's attempts to show off had been achieved, so he kept his marriage license and looked at Nan Yuan, who was still chewing on his chicken wings. "Yuan, do you want to come over our house for a meal? You can continue playing with Ningbai and Jingxi."

Nan Yuan thought about what Yan Ningbai had told him about the big meal next door they would be having tonight. So, he looked expectantly at Old Lady Nan.

Old Lady Nan smiled, "Okay, go over if you want to, but be obedient and don't be naughty. Also, don't overeat. You've already eaten a lot here, if you're going to eat any more, your little tummy won't be able to take it."

Nan Yuan quickly made his promise and happily grabbed on to another piece of chicken wing to chew on the way over. He did not forget to give Yan Ningbai and Mo Jingxi two pieces of chicken wings each.

Three little boys chewed on their chicken wings as they walked over next door.

Yan Zhiqing went straight to her bedroom the moment she came home. She did not even go to the living room. Her mind was in a mess. She wanted to give Jiang Changdai a call to talk things through, but she could not forget how Jiang Changdai had pulled her to the front to block that hot tea for her.

Yan Zhiqing heard his happy voice from upstairs, "Grandma Chen, give me less rice. I want to grow up quickly by eating more meat!"

Yan Zhiqing snorted. He treated a maid better than he treated her. She was nothing but an extra person in this house!

At the thought, Yan Zhiqing's eyes went red.

Her mother used her as a shield when there was danger and no one in this family liked her. She felt lonely. She was all alone and no one loved her!

With that, she went downstairs looking grim-faced. The two elders did not speak to her when they spotted her expression. The pretended not to notice. They did not want this pair of mother and daughter to spoil this good day.

That was why the general manager got the top management of Red Roof to stand in line outside the entrance while waiting for them.
