She knew that she should not enjoy too much of his little remarks but her disobedient heart was really at fault here. She wanted to teach him a lesson for his indifference, cold nature and outright non-caring attitude towards his original wife but was not able to do so.

"Lu Jian, can I ask you a question?" Zhen Xiu asked him suddenly.

Lu Jian was surprised at her sudden seriousness and for a chance, he wanted to avoid her question.

"This is the same question again. Why are you different now? What changed?"

Zhen Xiu asked him again. This was becoming quite repetitive but she could not make sense of his behavior. She wanted to avoid it but somewhere in her heart she always got confused because of his changed behavior.

It was so sudden. Just after her awakening and within the first meeting with Lu Jian; his behavior towards her was drastic like earth and sky. This was something unbelievable.

"I don' know why…." Lu Jian stopped for a while and then continued after reminiscing his first meeting with her after she came back home from the hospital.

"Actually, when you were secretly crying while talking on your phone; it was like I was suddenly attracted to you. It was not because of your appearance or any lusty thoughts in my mind. The thing which attracted me to you was your sad smile and the pain hiding in your eyes. After that, you gave an innocent smile; totally different from your sad aura within a second. I was amazed to see all those emotions in your eyes."

Zhen Xiu was listening silently as Lu Jian was explaining himself. She remembered that she was talking with Shen Ya after her first fight with Lu Jian. This was the time she felt some warmth from another person in her life. Although she didn't know what Lu Jian was saying about pain, sadness, and emotions in her eyes; she was sure of one thing that the smile he described must be amazing. After all, this was the happiness, which emerged from her heart after being accepted by somebody else.

"I didn't know why I was attracted towards it. Jiang Wui also mentioned your change and a different attitude, this also attracted me. I was curious why you are being so different lately. It was like a different aura, a new you, who came back after a rebirth to throw me in the chaos of hell."

Lu Jian explained his sudden interest in her. This was probably the longest time he talked to anyone aside from his business meetings.

"You say rebirth, does that mean you didn't like the previous me?"

Zhen Xiu wanted to know this as this means the previous girl died for nothing. All those humiliation and insults were suffered for nothing. She knew that she was not that great and kind to others but she had basic respect for others feelings and emotions.

Just because Lu Jian was attracted to her; she can't snatch him like a trophy without giving a thought to the previous owner of this body.

She knows that she has some bad qualities but she was not thankless to the person who saved her life. Whatever the scenario was before while Zoru decided to bring her here as a replacement but this was a fact that she has taken the other girl's life and fate, probably her love too. She can't help but be sad for her.

She was not thankful to neither Zoru nor her other half of the soul because of their sacrifice or something because they brought her here because they needed her. Zhen Xiu knew that it was an even deal but the little innocent girl in her heart who was suppressed for so long felt the original Xiu's pain.

"No, it was not like that per se. I accept that I was not attracted to you so I really was not affectionate towards you but this doesn't mean that I didn't like you as a person. You were a nice girl. Your love towards me was something I respected but was not able to reciprocate because our feelings were not mutual." Lu Jian told her about his inner thoughts.

He was telling her the reason for his indifference. He wanted to explain himself.

"If you were even a bit dangerous for me or anything related to me then, trust me, I would not hesitate to kill you. I was indifferent towards you was not something strange because this is my nature. I am like this with everybody. You were not special."

"I didn't want to give you any false hope just because we were married to each other. I never felt anything for you in the past two years of our marriage. You were just an acquaintance for me." He told her everything truthfully without hiding anything in his heart.

He knew that it may create some misunderstandings in the future if their feelings were not clear to each other.

Everything that Lu Jian said didn't bring any major effect on Zhen Xiu because originally she didn't feel anything for him in the first place. She just wanted to understand him and bring the previous soul a closure.

Lu Jian was expecting that she would burst out in anger after she heard his true thoughts regarding her, he waited and waited for a while but nothing came. He sighed thankfully.

"What? You are not angry with me?" He asked carefully; although this situation was like a ticking time bomb they need to communicate better with each other to make their bond stronger.

Zhen Xiu was busy mourning for the original when she heard Lu Jian's skeptical voice.

"Nah, honestly I don't feel anything." She told him.

Lu Jian expected her to be angry, sad and even hating him but this reaction hurt him the most; her indifference to his doubts regarding their relationship.

He knew there will come a day that she would not listen to him and will leave him after knowing his thinking about her.

After all who will tolerate a man who treated you as an acquaintance in your two years of marriage and suddenly was head over heels for you when you loved him completely?
