Shen Ya was not a fool. She could see the displeasure and conflict on Lu Jian's face. Although it greatly pleased her to see his conflicted expression, she didn't want to continue their staring contest for long.

"Give up! I know you are pretending. She is awake but we will have to wait one more day to see her."

Shen Ya informed him about her last call to Mother Zhen and the request she had made for them. She was merely being a messenger but Lu Jian abruptly stood up as his thoughts were running in the crazy direction.

"What? Why? Does she wants to separate us?" Lu Jian coldly glanced at Shen Ya.

Previously, he was afraid of Zhen Xiu's rejection and was making plans on how to redeem himself but never in his mind he had imagined that Mother Zhen would try to separate them.

It was nothing like that but a simple plea of a mother but Lu Jian was already forming the worst conclusion in the entire scenario.

"Will you stop it?" Shen Ya growled at him.

She was annoyed to see his overthinking and dramatic reaction in regards to Mother Zhen's request. He was simply stretching the issue, making a mountain of a mole.

"It's for mother-daughter bonding and yes she didn't say anything about separation so calm your nuts down!" Shen Ya affirmed.

Lu Jian was still in denial and wanted to go inside the inner region to look after Zhen Xiu but stopped in his track as he realized the irrationality of his reactions. He was behaving like a little kid.

"You are still together."

She saw that he was once again going to do something crazy like barging inside the chambers and could not help herself and blurted the words. It was for the best. At the moment, this is the best choice for both of them as they were still in Zhen Clan's territory so they need to be more careful.

"We need to be careful."

Shen Ya was right! They are still together.

They are not separated.

Not yet at least.

"I am sorry. I was rude." Lu Jian apologized wholeheartedly. He was glad that she was here to put some sense in his mind.

Shen Ya nodded. "At least you know now."

"I know we don't like each other but in here we are, one team, so please trust me." Shen Ya offered to hear his emotional dilemma. It was difficult and suffocating to leave troubling thoughts in the mind.

She has faced this in her childhood and was aware that emotional baggage was more dangerous than any other physical pain.

She was not his close friend but could be a good listener for her friend. She would treat him better for her.

"I am all ears if you want to open up."

Lu Jian was thankful that Shen Ya was being considerate towards him. He was used to seeing people fawning over him because of his title and wealth and he has always played by the rules. His close friend and brother both were Jiang Wui.

So, when Shen Ya offered to hear his heart out, he decided to trust her for this time. Either way, having a good relationship with her would come in handy while wooing his wife back if she ever decides to leave him because of her new personality.

"Thanks for the offer."

He thanked her and told her about his fears and insecurities that might come from her changed personality. How his heart was in pain thinking about the inevitable?

"So you are worried about it." Shen Ya thought for a while and frankly, she was glad that he was insecure about his position in Zhen Xiu's heart.

After all, the way he treated her in the past and was always privileged to have the number one spot in her heart. It was his retribution but on the other hand as a listener she pitied him.

"You should not think about all these. She is not here yet and you don't know anything about her new personality. So, be positive. I am glad that you are taking her seriously now Lu Jian."

Lu Jian knew that she was trying to give him hope and was inwardly glad that he was in this turmoil. He knew she was a nice person as she has always stuck by her best friend no matter what happens so he didn't find fault in her advice.

He knew that he should be optimistic and not judge the situation just because of his insecurities. His mind was hopeful but his heart was in distress.

The feeling of losing your beloved was unimaginable.

He has a meaning in his life now because of her. All the injustice she has to suffer because of him were pricking his heart. Like he was the one on the side of injustice and not that selfless girl that loved him altruistically.

Life was simple but we insist on making it complicated.

He realized that when she was with him he was uncaring but now that he wanted her for himself she might not want him.

Shen Ya could see the wheel turning in his head and decided to leave him alone to settle his thoughts for himself.

"Don't lose hope if you truly love her." Shen Ya advised.
