Wanna Break Up?

"Hey, you are not coming home today too?"

"Umm... No Kiera. Kiera, can we talk? I have something to tell you."

"Can't you tell me over the phone? I didn't even get to see you these days. How am I supposed to reach you?"

Kiera thought these words as Anna's foolish blabbering. Sometimes she talks as if she was more experienced in this field than anyone else. But the truth is, Annabelle herself never fell in love let alone being experienced. The irony is, sometimes inexperienced people's thoughts are more logical than an experienced one. Maybe because love makes you illogical?

These words, Kiera believes them now.

Kiera has been a smart kid since childhood. Getting smart marks on her subjects, showing maturity over her age, that's what she was. She was enchanting and at the same time commanding. The patience he showed when he was with her made Kiera think that he was the right person for her. The word 'love' which she never thought necessary in her life became her main subject. He was the first one to propose to her and it was the first time in Kiera's life that she ever accepted a guy with just a simple proposal.

Kiera met Owen when she first started working for Anna. She was always kept busy with work in those days. Owen was one who took care of her and stayed by her side in those hectic days. These little things made her feel like she was lucky. Lucky to have Owen.

It's not that she feels unlucky now. She should not. After all, they have been together for almost 5 years. Ending here doesn't mean she was unlucky the whole time. She is a bit unlucky though, for not being able to date him for some more years. Maybe she wanted just not to date but marry him one day. Maybe she also thought of turning grey with him.

Kiera could guess what is going to happen now. She had a sharp sixth sense. Her sleepless nights, Owen's skipping meals, and not staying out for several nights, these weren't for nothing. She was just waiting for a month for the right time to come. The right time when Owen is going to call her and do what should have been done a long ago.

When Kiera thought she understood what 'Love' was, she again came back to the starting. This single word with only four alphabets made her so hard to spell, so hard to have in life, and made her drench in sorrow. So, it wasn't love then? What they had for each other.... It was something else then?

Or love is just like that? One moment you feel like you can't leave without it and in another, you just suddenly come to a conclusion that you don't need anything like this.

Then, she actually doesn't want it... this selfish thing. It was more selfish than her past self. It will be better if she can return back to her past self, won't it?

Owen was a bit taken aback by her mention of breaking up. That was his intention from the start but this coming from Kiera's mouth was a big shock for him. Suddenly a hysterical laugh came from the other side. Kiera was laughing crazily.

"Why are you silent now? Did you think that I was so in love with you that I can't break up with you first?"

"No, that's not it..."

"Then what is it! Cut the crap and end this here, Owen. I have much more worth of work to do. So, make it short."

"It's true it was something like that but this is not gonna be solved over the phone. We should talk."

"SHUT THE F**K UP OWEN! You are somewhat acting ridiculous right now. Why is that supposed to be needed huh? Even if I talk to you, what good is gonna pull out huh? I just don't wanna see your f**king face! Get out of my house ASAP. I am not gonna return home today. Make sure there is no single thing of you left behind in my house. Goodbye."

Kiera cut off the phone. She was exhausted. Exhausted by the workload of today and now... exhausted by this ridiculous phone call from her boyfriend. Or should she call him her ex?

This is good. At least it's finished over the phone.

Tears rolled off her cheeks.

"Urghhh.... Why the heck are these tears coming out... hnghh..."

She couldn't hold back anymore. Tears fell like a hot rain from her eyes.

She has to book a hotel room. It's better to stay at a hotel for a week so that Owen can clean up the house and leave without seeing her.

She wanted to call a taxi. She can't drive the car right now in this state unless she wants to meet an accident so badly. But her muffled voice wasn't loud enough for the cab drivers passing past her to hear.

Suddenly she lost her footing and started to cry like a child. Pathetic, she looked total pathetic at this moment.

Owen was the one who made her this way. Then again, she was the one who chose to be here in this way. Shattered because of her own weakness and foolishness.

Maybe there isn't any good answer for that. There is a solution, though.

She is not gonna fall in love anymore. She was the only solution for her. Though it was only Owen whom she truly ever loved. But this time she is gonna stop making any involvement with this love and all.
