Supreme God Chapter 13 - Wedding (1)

Chapter 12: Wedding (1)

The grand palace below the seven seas looked majestic. The nameless island Adelos once lived in will never be able to compete with this. His mind wandered back to the Four Dragon God Kings. The Dragon God Kings ruled the Four Seas. But in the eyes of the major gods in this realm, they can only be regarded as a small-like dragon. The major gods such as the God of the Sea would find the Dragon God Kings unworthy in their eyes.

Then, Adelos' mind wandered back to the marriage

between Amphitrite and Poseidon, God of the Sea and Zeus' elder brother.

Artemis looked eastward and westward. A look of pleasure and excitement filled her face seeing the elegance of the Underwater World while listening to Styx regarding Poseidon's pursuit of Amphitrite.

Poseidon saw her dancing under the silhouette with her sisters on the shores of Naxos Island. Overwhelmed by her beauty, he immediately pulled her into his embrace and attempted to take her away to his place. But Amphitrite was quick. She hurriedly hid in the mountainous region to avoid the pursuit of Poseidon. She'd even gone to Atlas, the Titan who carried the sky on his shoulders as punishment for aiding Cronus. For a long time, Poseidon was unable to find her 'till a dolphin whispered in his ears where Amphitrite hid.

When Poseidon finally found her, Atlas attempted to protect her, but Poseidon did not relent. He defeated Atlas with his trident and immediately grabbed Amphitrite's hand and went to Oceanus and Tethys requesting he marry their daughter. Oceanus and Tethys agreed.

Artemis' lips pouted. "I did not expect that Poseidon would be infatuated with an Oceanid."

She once heard from her mother that Poseidon once forced himself on Demeter against her will.

Poseidon used his brother, Zeus an example in matters of love. When he fell in love with Demeter and attempted to court her,  she disagreed and morphed into a horse to avoid his chase. In return, Poseidon had also changed his form and disguised as a horse and chased after her. During the time Demeter let her guard down was when Poseidon emerged and raped her.

Adelos shook his head gently. "This is not infatuation. Surely Poseidon must have other reasons for marrying Aunt Amphitrite."

Styx looked at Adelos with a full smile while her starry eyes glowed. "Little Adelos is clever and smart. It looks like we'll have another wise god to come soon."

There were only two gods acknowledged as one full of wisdom and intellects; one was Metis who'd been devoured by Zeus and the other Prometheus who hid in the mortal world.

Adelos shook his head and laughed.

He did not reply.

"Aunt Styx, what is going?" Confused, Artemis hastily questioned.

Styx held Adelos in his arms and touches his face. A smile slowly appeared. "Poseidon who had been overwhelmed by Pontus, son of Gaia and the and a primordial god, reluctantly came and asked help from the Oceanids. My father who'd always been devoted to expanding his power weighed the positives and negatives the marriage would bring. After learning of the situation, he immediately sent Amphitrite to marry Poseidon."

Oceanus had far more offsprings than Pontus and many of his children had long lost their place of command in the seas. Him marrying her daughter to Poseidon was an act of war against the primordial god.

"Then… Aunt Amphitrite, would she marry Poseidon?"

Styx sighed suddenly remembering something. "What are you willing to do and what are you unwilling to do? As a sister, you'd have to think about the thousands of younger brothers and sisters behind you. When Amphitrite marries Poseidon, she'll become Queen of the Seven Seas. The uncertain future of her brothers and sisters would eventually come to an end. Sooner or later women will have to marry and give life to a child. Poseidon isn't a bad choice."

When she married Pallas, didn't she look for a man who'd become a worthy ally for her father? For her brothers and sisters?

Artemis shook her head vigorously when she heard this. "No matter what, I won't ever marry. I only want to take care of my cute little brother.

Styx laughed contently. "So our little Artemis wishes to learn from the virgin goddess Hestia?"

Hestia was the Goddess of Hearth and she kept Olympus alight in bodies of warmth. She was the eldest daughter of Cronus and her strength was unpredictable. Even the lustful Zeus and Poseidon dare not provoke her.
