Supreme God Chapter 17 - Hestia's Manor (1)

Chapter 17: Hestia's Manor (1)

The world brimmed with lively and energetic human mortals. After Zeus overthrew the rule of his father, Cronus, tumultuous rainstorms and floods broke out endlessly in the mortal world, almost exterminating the Silver Man created by the Titans likened to their image.

Before the Silver Man, there exists the Golden Man embodied to Uranus' and the primordial god's image.

The Golden Man lived like gods. They had no worries, need not work, no stress occupied their life, and poverty was non-existent. Earth provided them a plenty of food; various plants and fruits grew in the evergreen, flocks of cattle and sheep roamed the grassland in abundance. They lived a life of peace and hardly did they age. When death neared them, they'd close their eyes and fall in a deep, long slumber. When the Titan's decided the Golden Man should disappear from the face of the Earth, they pleaded mercy and asked the gods for heavenly protection.

Later on, the Golden Man became the masters of all good deeds. They upheld the law and justice and punished all evil.

Then, the Silver Man appeared. Their appearance and spirit differed slightly from the Golden Man. They were like spoiled children who needed to be cared for by their mothers. They regressed and were immature in spirit. Their wanton behavior plunged the Silver Man into the abyss of suffering generations after generations for they could not control their emotions.

After Cronus' defeat, the Silver Man decided they'd no longer worship and offer sacrifices to the gods. Zeus grew ired with intent to destroy the Silver Man from the face of the Earth. He did not want to see blasphemy running amok, but they aren't too worthless, so he allowed them the honor of roaming the Earth as evil creatures at the end of their lives.

Zeus, the King of Gods and father of the heavenly sky then molded the third generation of human beings. He called the Bronze Man. This generation was significantly different from their counterparts. The Bronze Man was cruel and brutal. All they knew and all they could do was think of war. They always fought amongst each other and insulted anything passing their way. They butcher more animals and eat more meat than they do fruits and vegetables. Their stubborn will is as hard as a diamond and their physique strong and tall in stature. The Bronze Man used bronze weapon, lived in bronze houses, farmed their fields with bronze farming tools because no iron existed at the time. Unlike the Golden and Silver Man, the Bronze Man had an appetite for war.

Styx dragged Adelos through the mortal world. Wherever they went, endless fighting occurred. Unconsciously, Styx spoke up. "The Silver Man was truly much better. Although too cunning, at least there aren't too many needless fighting."

"I'm not sure Sister Styx. You used to like people so much." The wind carried a soft and slightly husky voice. The tone was full of laughter.

Hearing the voice, Styx smiled. "Speaking of liking the mortals, I can't compare to you. Over the past few decades, all you've done is mingle with them. You haven't been to Olympus in years and your deeds have never circulated amongst the gods."

The soft and husky voice laughed again. Then, a beautiful goddess appeared in front of Adelos. The goddess had long legs, perky twin peaks hidden under her chiffon robes, and silver-white hair which matched the color of her robes. Her face was not only beautiful in looks but held a tranquil aura. She looked at the world before her with detached indifference like she'd stepped foot out of her icy and snowy world.

The goddess' eyes lit up seeing Adelos. "Is this Sister Styx child? He looks very much like you."

In the eyes of many gods, Adelos and Styx do look much like. Both had ebony hair and black starry eyes. It was for this reason Styx grew fond of him instantly.

Styx sighed. "I wish I had such a child, but unfortunately I do not. He Zeus and Leto's youngest child of whom she named Adelos."

The goddess raised her brow. "Isn't the child of Leto and Zeus called Apollo?"

Though she lived in seclusion, she tried to keep up with the matters of the gods. The goddess only knows of Artemis and Apollo's birth.

"Apollo is his older brother. Let alone you, not even Zeus himself knows he has a thirdborn child." Then she looked at Adelos. "Come on, little Adelos, this the Goddess of Hearth, Hestia. I'm sure you've heard of her though you've never seen her before."

Hestia was the Goddess of Hearth whom held other titles. Not only so, she's one of the Twelve Olympians. And as the eldest sister of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, Adelos truly admired her so. It is not her strength he admires most but her unwavering determination to remain a virgin goddess. The lustful brothers of hers dare not lay a hand on her. They respect her.

Adelos bowed to Hestia. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Aunt Hestia."

Hestia grinned. "Aunt? Why am I an Aunt?"

"If there is a father, there is an aunt. If there is no father, what need would there be of an aunt?" Adelos replied happily.

Seeing Adelos serious look, Styx burst out in laughter.

Hestia smiled softly. "Call it what you want. Since it is our first meeting, your aunt should give you a gift."

Then, she pulled a golden slingshot from her sleeve and handed it to Adelos.

"This is a gift father gave me to play with when he swallowed me. Later, after several of my brothers and sisters had been swallowed by father, my brothers, Hades and Poseidon, often asked for this. I relented and didn't give it. Now, this slingshot is yours to play with." Speaking of the past, Hestia's eyes blurred and a look of sadness filled her eyes.

Adelos grabbed the slingshot. At first, he wanted to put it in his space domain, but he hesitated. "Why give me such a valuable thing? It is better for you to keep it, Aunt Hestia."

"No, you keep it. I don't know why, but it's more pleasant to the eyes seeing you have it than Hades and those troublemakers." Hestia stroked Adelos' head.

If there is anyone qualified to say that Hades and Poseidon are troublemakers, it can only be Hestia. During their childhood, Hestia cared for her brothers and sisters in Cronus' belly.

Later on, Metis offered Zeus a plan. He gave Cronus a medicine which resulted in the escape of Zeus' brothers and sisters. After they came out of Cronus' belly, they've grown to become a powerful god.

Hestia led Styx and Adelos to her manor. In this chaotic world, it was extremely rare to find a quiet and tranquil home.

Upon arriving at Hestia's manor, Adelos found that Styx wasn't in much of a hurry so he's left with no choice but to follow Hestia around.
