I received an elixir prescription from him and it was the Demon-quenching Elixir. He said it was a tribute from a feudal state in the Western regions. I studied it and found out that the Demon-quenching Elixir was an elixir specially made to hone the bodies of demons. You know too, demonic powers are great but very hard to control. Using the Demon-quenching Elixir to hone oneself would improve such a situation. And, demons and practitioners are the same. Once they've attained their Nascent Demon stage, they would need to combine with their Nascent Demon to attain the great realization. This elixir would be very helpful.”

Ning Tao watched as Chen Pingdao spoke ardently about the Demon-quenching Elixir and a smirk formed on his face.

“Yes! I remember now. Inside the old phantom bat nest is a rare treasure. I've been here for centuries and have observed peculiar phenomena for a few times. Whenever the planets aligned, an odd glow would shine from that cave, making it unbearingly hot,” Chen Pingdao said as he observed Ning Tao's expression.

“What treasure is it?” Ning Tao appeared to be really excited.

Chen Pingdao said, “I don't know too. You know, I'm timid. How would I go fight the phantom bats?”

Ning Tao grinned. “Senior Chen, you're trying to dupe me into hunting for treasure again and letting me die in the nest of those phantom bats. I'm sure you'll be very happy, right?”

Chen Pingdao appeared to be unhappy. “What are you saying? Am I such a person?”

Ning Tao said, “Back then, you deceived me into taking over the Sky Clinic. You didn't even spare me a few days of internship and left without a word. I'm sure you weren't even expecting me to live until today, right?”

Chen Pingdao glared at Ning Tao. “Why are you so petty? Didn't I leave a note behind?”

Ning Tao said, “Alright, I won't touch on our bad blood anymore. How about this? You give me the prescription of that Demon-quenching Elixir and I'll take my women home.”

“Deal!” Chen Pingdao then yelled. “My two sisters-in-law, come over! Stop picking the fruits!”

Qing Zhui and Jiang Hao exchanged glances. Each of them picking their last cucumbers before leaving the field. Even though the sacks were not full, they were certainly at least almost half-filled.

Chen Pingdao entered the house to retrieve a narra wood box. He opened it and took out a piece of leather to give it to Ning Tao.

Ning Tao took it and looked at it. It was no ordinary leather. Neither was the content inside. However, he quickly put it into his small medicine chest before having a good look at it.

Chen Pingdao urged anxiously. “Please leave quickly. It's very late. I want to sleep. You should go back to rest too.”

Ning Tao thought that it was enough too. He smiled and said, “Then we'll take our leave. You may rest well. If I have any more questions in the future, I'll come here again to seek for your advice.”

Chen Pingdao appeared to be gritting his teeth at Ning Tao. “You're thinking of coming again?”

Qing Zhui and Jiang Hao passed the sacks to Ning Tao, then followed him into the Scriptures & Scrolls Store to take a look at the spiritual field. Jiang Hao said, “Earlier on at Chen Pingdao's spiritual field, I heard him talking about some old nest of phantom bats. You better not go. That guy is instigating you to risk your life. I was thinking at that point to wipe out all of his spiritual materials, but seeing that you appeared to be still on good terms with him, I had held myself back.”

Ning Tao said, “I know what he's thinking, but the prescription of Demon-quenching Elixir which he had given is good for you two. The phantom bat is a very important ingredient of the Demon-quenching Elixir. I'll devise some ways then decide whether I should try going there. You two go home first. I am always worried about Hu Xiaoji and Howling Celestial Dog; I'll be assured if you two could stay at home.”

Qing Zhui asked, “Aren't sister and Senior Yin both at home?”

Ning Tao said, “Are your sister and Senior Yin the type who looks after the house and children?”

The cave was completely silent. There was no sign of the phantom bats.

Ning Tao retrieved a tactical flashlight from the small medicine chest then shined at above. There were a few cracks on the top but nothing could be seen.

Bang bang bang…

Loud gunshots from outside the cave were suddenly heard.

What was happening?

Ning Tao was stunned momentarily then charged out of the cave.
