Chapter 69 – Stolen Kiss Part 1

Bai Qingyan curled up in his grasp, holding tightly onto his neck with one hand. The other hand moved up to touch where, in another life, a hole had been on his head.

She would not allow Gu Hang to hurt Gu Yezhi again. Before Gu Hang even thought of it, Bai Qingyan would take the initiative to strike back!

Gu Yezhi took Bai Qingyan back to their room and laid her down on the soft bed. With a hot towel from the bathroom, he wiped away the tears and sweat of her face and then cleaned the dirt on her feet. Once he was done, he threw the dirty towel aside.

“Don't run barefoot in the future.”

“Yes.” Bai Qingyan nodded, taking his scolding in stride. Seeing him lie down, she immediately grabbed him. 

By clasping his thighs with her own and putting her hands around his neck, she made sure he would not move from the bed. She was still shaken by the dream and feared he'd disappear at any moment.

Meanwhile, Gu Yezhi was speechless. Her acting was truly out of this world! He knew what she truly wanted was Gu Hang's embrace, not his. A self-mocking smile curved his lips as he turned off the lights and plunged the room into darkness.

The bright moonlight enhanced the quiet atmosphere. In the bed, Bai Qingyan watched Gu Yezhi as he slept. With arms stretched out, he did not hold her. 

Loosening one hand, she reached back and wrapped one of his arms around her. However, s soon as she released his hand it fell back to where it was before.

The moment she met him on the stairs, she had noticed his indifference. She didn't know why he had regressed. At this point, she was a little tired of his hot and cold attitude, but she wasn't going to give up on him. Reaching out, she caressed his face.

She did not notice that Gu Yezhi wasn't actually asleep, or that each time she touched him, his fingers would tighten a little. She bent over and kissed him, her lips barely touching his. She was afraid to wake him up, so she was careful.

That kiss was unexpected and threw Gu Yezhi's heart into turmoil. Barely even managing to hold himself back from reciprocating, he clenched his hands into fists and remained still. He couldn't understand. He was supposed to be asleep, so she didn't need to act in front of him at all.

Why did she secretly kiss me? Does she actually like me? No, impossible!

For a moment he considered the idea of his wife being in love with him, but he discarded it just as quickly. He knew she was willing to sacrifice not just her innocence but years of her life in a marriage she didn't want. And it was all for Gu Hang's sake.

Even if her feelings for him could change, it was too early. They had only been married for a month. It wasn't enough time for such a drastic change in her heart. He felt that Bai Qingyan was very foolish to think he'd fall so easily.

While he mused about it, she called his name in a loving voice. “Yezhi… “

His heart trembled as he tried to resist her charm and failed. He rolled over and pressed her to the mattress, kissing her hungrily. Soon, he fell asleep.

Bai Qingyan stared at his tranquil sleeping face for a while longer. She kissed him again and settled in his arms. As she hugged him, she laid her head on his chest and fell asleep too. 

Before, she used fake affection to win Gu Yezhi's heart. This time around she was sincere He'd love her even more.

Beside her lay Gu Yezhi, wide awake. He opened his eyes when her breathing evened out and checked the clock. It was around 6:30 and Bai Qingyan's face was illuminated by the morning's first rays.
