Bai Qingyan got pushed away and rolled on the ground, protecting her head with her hands. She couldn't afford to injure her face. However, instead of the pain she expected, she heard many neat footsteps echoing on the corridor.

She turned around and saw the footsteps belonged to two rows of bodyguards, lining the corridor. They gave way to one man who leisurely made his way toward her.

Tall and handsome, he wore a gray shirt and black trousers. He was completely expressionless and appeared indifferent, but his deep eyes were like a black cloud, promising a lot of rain. He held a cigarette between his fingers, the tip glowing faintly.

With the bright lights of the corridor framing his tall body, he looked like a God walking among mortals.

Her eyes watered. She got up and ran towards him in the space of a breath, throwing herself at his arms and embracing him tightly. Breathing in his familiar scent, she buried her face in his chest as if she had suffered and his presence was a balm. “Yezhi, you came.”

Truthfully, Bai Qingyan hadn't suffered any grievances. She was upset because these people looked down on her uncle, even daring to beat him.

“Yan Yan, I'm here. It's going to be alright.” Gu Yezhi gently patted her back, his strong arms wrapping tightly around his wife. He looked at Ji Sijie, who was still on the ground. His fierce gaze almost tore her apart. Gu Yezhi's gaze then fell on Bai Jian, nodding in greeting.

Bai Jian just stood there, mouth hanging open. He was apprehensive about the battle that was about to happen. He didn't know how to react. Did Gu Yezhi really come to fight?

“Yan Yan, are you hurt?” Gu Yezhi looked Bai Qingyan up and down, scanning her body for any injuries. His eyes showed how worried he was.

“I'm fine, but uncle… Yezhi, they bullied uncle…” She turned her head and looked at Bai Jian pitifully.

“Go ahead and check if Uncle is injured. I'll take care of the rest.” Gu Yezhi touched her head, and she released him. The moment she let go, her body felt cold, as if all the warmth had been pulled from her. She hugged her husband one last time then went to check on Bai Jian.

No one dared intercept her. Even if Bai Jian was shirtless, no one stood on her path.

On her way to her uncle Bai Qingyan, quite the little fox pointed to the speechless Ji Sijie and said arrogantly, “You're dead!”

Ji Sijie had smiled when she saw Gu Yezhi appear, going as far as trying to straighten her hair. She had long wanted to ask for his help, but he had blocked any contact with her. She hadn't expected to meet him here.

To her shock, Bai Qingyan threw herself at Gu Yezhi as soon as he arrived, shouting his name like a lover. Shocking her, even more, was his reaction. She knew he was obsessed with being clean and hated being touched, yet he didn't even flinch when Bai Qingyan hugged him. He actually hugged her back and touched her head!
