Honey : The Empire's Treasure 267 Where There Is Smoke, There Is Fire

It first started in a locate tea shop, were many villagers frequent. From there it slowly spread like a serpent hunting it's prey among the common Fae, until finally reaching the young misses and young masters of the more influential clans. 

One day a young miss rushed into her mother's sitting room. The gossip she just heard from her friend had her itching to tell her mother.

"Mom...Mom...where are you!?" Searching all around the room, she finally saw her sitting at her table eating a snack. Not bothering to slow down, the young girl snatched a snack off of her mother's plate.

"Fildarae! Mind your manners…" Madam Carrona chided her young daughter as she took a seat and stuffed a Dragonturtle Tart into her mouth.

"Mother," Fildarae quickly swallowed the mouthful of the delightfully sweet tart before continuing, "….my friend just told me something very interesting…" 

Seeing her daughter was in a mood to gossip, Lady Carrona sent her servants away. She didn't want anyone witnessing them spreading rumors, less it leads to them getting into trouble.

Once the servants were all gone, Lady Carrona allowed her daughter to continue.

"My friend, heard from her friend who heard from her servant and very interesting story about one of the families in the capital." Usually her daughter would come to her with news about little things that happens within their little township. She would shuffle through it, using whatever gossip and information she gleams from Fildarae to her advantage among the other madams. 

However, this news involved the families from the capital. She has always wanted to have connections with the clans in the capital and possibly live there. 

"What is it? Tell me…" Carrona urged her daughter to speak faster.

With her mother hooked and eating out of the palm of her hands. Fildarae looked away from her mother's eager eyes and plopped another tart into her mouth.

"Why you little...fine. What do you want?" Carrona slapped the table. She should have known better than to show her curiosity to her daughter, now she'll have to pay for the information.

"Father said he would cut my allowance in half."

"He should after you spend all of it on your friends before the month is even over!" Carrona was actually the one who pressed her husband to cut their daughter's credits, after finding out about how much she spends in a week showing off to her friends.

"Mother, you don't understand! I need that money so that I can get more information from them." Fildarae whined. She knew her mother was the one who told her father about her spending, that's why she rushed in here as soon as she got this juicy gossip. It is the best way to get her credits back.

"Ugh, fine...but only if this information is good."

"Okay!" Fildarae toss the rest of the  half-eaten tart her hand back back onto the plate in front of her.

Pulling out her tablet, Fildarae opened it up to a video she received from her friend then showed it to her confused mother.

"Just watch…" Pressing play, she waited as her mother watched to whole clip.

When the video ended, Carrona looked at her daughter.

"That man in the video is Prince Thallan. The young miss in the video is his sister-in-law and the day this was recorded was on his wedding day to her sister!"Enjoying the shock on her mother's face, Fildarae took her tablet back from her mother's hands.

"Mother, I expect the full amount of credits in my account for this information." 

"En...of course." Lady Carrona waved her hand at her daughter, still trying to process what she just watched and the information her daughter just dropped onto her lap.

Having gotten what she wanted, Fildarae was about to leave the room.

 "Fildarae...Who else knows about this…?" Carrona called out to her daughter.

"My friend's friend said she found out about this from her maid….so I guess just most of the young misses and young masters know for now."

"Okay, okay...good. Leave now, I need to speak with your father. And sent that video to me!" Remembering that the tablet was in her daughter's hands.

"En...sure, sure." With that Fildarae left the room.

Needing to move fast on this, Carrona ran into her bedroom looking for her tablet. Checking to make sure that the video was there, she then ran towards her husband's office.

Swamped with work, Lord Rennyn didn't have time to deal with his wife's requests. So the minute she came into his office, he wanted to push her right back out.

"Not now, Carrona…"

"Wait! You must see this…." Opening the video on the screen, she placed the tablet right in front of him before he pushed her out of his office.

Watching the video clip, Lord Rennyn didn't understand what his wife was trying to show him.

"This is Prince Thallan and his sister-in-law on his wedding day…" Eyes widening, Lord Rennyn looked back at the tablet replaying the video.

"This...this…" Rennyn was stumbling over his words.

"This is our family's chance to move up the ladder." Carrona smiled at her husband. They both knew the best way to use this information.

"Will she still take my call..." Rennyn worried that their Backer was already done with them. 

"She will...for with this…" Carrona tapped the screen of her tablet.
