Chapter 6: A 20th Century Boy
The duo laid there in silence as an older man stood in front of them pacing back and forth with anger fueling his eyes. He was bald, yet still had a partially gray beard and his black eyes gazed at them.
“I'm supposed to believe that some weirdo in a mask attacked you both, and just magically walked off? This isn’t a horror movie, boys! You're lucky it was me who found you guys there and it wasn’t the sheriff!” He said while trying not to pop a vein in his stressed out state. This was Deputy Aaron. He was a cop who most trusted in terms of fairness, and owns a bar down the road.
“But Mr. Aaron, we actually did get attacked! They were swift and nimble but still human! At least put out some form of a warning out there for others! Who knows what they could do next!” Akil shouted while trying to move but ending up failing due to his injury.
Suddenly the phone rang behind them as Aaron picked it up, while trying to pick up some form of a decent composure.
“Help! Some weirdo in a mask won’t stop trying to bang on the door!” The woman screamed.
Aaron slowly turned his head toward Akil who stood there partially smirking.
“I’ll be there to handle it in a sec ma’am just find a place to hide. He said while slamming the phone. “Thats a bit convenient don’t you think? Just as you mentioned a masked individual, someone calls about it. You sure you ain't pranking me?” He said becoming hostile almost instantly.
Akil shook his head as he stood up groaning in the process.
“What are you waiting for? We have to go catch them before something happens.” He said as he shuffled towards the door.
Aaron sighed as he grabbed his utility belt and followed behind him.
They enter the police car as they enter the road.
“You sure you don’t need to stay in the car? You look like a pigeon could kick your ass!” Aaron said chuckling.
“You sure you don’t need to stay in the car, old man? Cause you look like your back could pull something and go along with the generational dust collector!” He responded as he looked out the window.
“Heh, Like I would ever die from something like that.
They call us 20th Century Boys for a reason.”
