Chapter 4: Quickstep
Akil’s heart sank, as sweat poured from his head. He slowly crawled, as he evaded the close equipment to make sure that he didn’t make too much noise in the process. His body pushed against the crusty, and peely wall attempting to be as silent as possible. The masked person stepped out into the open as their gaze monitored the surrounding area, as fear pressed against Akil’s heart as if it was on the brink of exploding the more he moved. Akil got on his knees as he took a deep breath as he placed his hands on the matted floor. The masked person slowly turned their back away from Akil as they monitored the nearby bench pressing area behind them.
Now was his chance, if he was going to strike at any moment now was that moment. Akil got on all fours, and took a deep breath. The slower he breathed the more the world felt like it was slowing down with him, and his confidence flowed back into him like a tidal wave reviving a near dying plant. Akil dashed at full speed toward the masked person as he stretched out his arm, and with all his might swung his arm around and landed a clothesline against the wall. The masked person bounced off the wall and collapsed onto the ground. Akil quickly grabbed the person’s wrist and snatched away the knife, pushing it away as he used his body weight onto the masked person’s body with all his might.
The person didn’t faze. They simply just laid there silent, and without any visible sense of movement at all threw an agile yet lightning fast kick to the back of Akil’s back chest. Shock had overcome Akil as he’s never felt such an immense strike like that before. It felt like a vastly sharp dagger just pierced through his body, as he fell off of the masked person. He attempted to stand up but, the impact of the kick only made him fall back down. His ribs were broken. The masked person got up to Akil’s face as they picked up the knife and lifted it up to his throat. Akil could see the stranger’s face now. It was a woman whose eyes were deep red and with muscles most men would wish they could have. She seemed familiar somehow, but his thoughts shut off as the sound of the bell rung nearby.
Someone else had entered the gym.
