In a dark and smelly prison, someone was currently shouting angrily until his voice went hoarse.
"Let me out!! I am innocent!!! I AM INNOCENT!!!"
Wang Min Jue had been banging the prison door ever since he was thrown to prison. It had been a week since he was locked up together with a person who claimed to be his father. What happened that time kept on replaying at the back of his mind.
He was currently having a good time with his newly acquired concubine when someone barged inside his home. When the officials from yamen arrived, he was caught off guard. He was suddenly charged with treason by betraying one's master, hiding his identity as a slave of an influential family.
When Wang Min Jue heard their accusations, he froze and went deaf. Before he realized it, he was already carried away from his home stark naked, without any clothes covering his special parts.
What treason?
What identity?
He was dumbfounded when he found out that everything in his life were lies.
He grew up in the bosom of a momo [1], without a father nor a mother. He was raised thinking that both of his parents already died, and he was left all by himself. Little did he know, he was not a son of a wealthy family but a son of a former slave, the lowest of the low.
That revelation shocked him up to his core.
He felt that his life was nothing but an empty shell and his identity was a sham.
"Let me out!!! I am innocent!! I did not steal anything nor hid my status as a servant!!"
Wang Min Jue continued his action for a couple of hours before he slowly stopped due to lack of energy.
"Son, it's already too late. Forgive your old man for not protecting you." Housekeeper Wang, who was sitting at the pile of straws, suddenly spoke with regret in his voice.
If someone from the manor see Housekeeper Wang right now, they would definitely be startled to death. The previous man who was haughty and full of arrogance few days ago was not looking like a penniless beggar in the street.
His face that once filled with vigor and proudness now carries deep regret and remorse. His clothes were now beyond recognition. It was made of a high-quality material but because he was unable to bath for days, his clothes were now filled with dirt, pee and feces. It was disgusting and dirty, and there was even a strong stench coming from him.
When Wang Min Jue heard Housekeeper Wang's words, his eyes went ablaze. His pupils carried a trace of fury as he whipped his head toward Housekeeper Wang.
"SHUT UP!!! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!!"
Like a crazy animal, he snarled at Housekeeper Wang.
"You, shameless old man!! How dare you call me your son! You are not my father! YOU ARE NOT MY FATHER!! I AM NOT A SON OF A SLAVE!! I AM NOT!!"
Wang Min Jue suddenly launched his body towards Housekeeper Wang. Caught off-guard, Housekeeper Wang was pushed forcefully on the floor. His eyes widened when he felt two hands squeezing his neck.
*cough*

Series of coughs echoed inside the entire prison house as he tried his best to pull Wang Min Jue's away from him. Unfortunately, Wang Min Jue was still in his prime while Housekeeper Wang was already beyond the age of having a healthy body, thus, Housekeeper Wang was unable to successfully peal his son's hands from his wrinkled neck.
"How dare you implicate me! You should've died!! I hate you! I hate you!! I HATE YOU!!!"
Thinking of the humiliation he felt when he was arrested and the mocking gaze of those people when they learned that he was nothing but a son of a mere slave, Wang Min Jue's eyes turned red. He gripped Housekeeper Wang's neck and grudgingly twisted it in anger.
The prison guards who were present did not try to separate both of them. They only stared at them as if they were watching a good show. When Wang Min Jue saw the amusement in their eyes, as if they were greatly pleased to see some drama, he was not able to control his anger and furiously increase his strength.
*crack*
Like a twig that broke in two, Housekeeper Wang's neck bent in a weird angle. The old man stopped struggling but his eyes were still open, lifelessly looking at Wang Min Jue. His face was full of shock and unwillingness to die. Even after death, his eyes still carried his grievance, making Wang Min Jue jump in fright.
He just killed someone.
He just killed his father.

YuLi was facing back and forth as she bit her inner lips.
Ever since XuanRong left, her heart won't stop beating fast. It was almost at the hour of the Rabbit [2] but she could not sleep.
Regarding to the plan of killing XuanRong, YuLi had mixed emotions. Although she was happy that she would be able to raise her status by marrying into second young master's courtyard as his concubine, there was something at the back of her mind saying that what she did was wrong.
YuLi inwardly slapped herself for having a weak heart. Ever since she agreed to help Er Furen [3] monitor XuanRong, it was already too late to feel guilty. She already boarded her ship, she no longer had a choice but to follow the captain's order to avoid being abandoned half-way.
'XiaoJie, YuLi promises that she will bring offerings for your soul every Yulan Festival [4]. XiaoJie, please forgive YuLi. YuLi was only trying her best to survive.'
YuLi went back to bed and forced herself to sleep.
Little did she know, after waking up, the thing she wanted the most, XuanRong would make it happen.
