XuanRong's heart was beating very fast. Her fingers slowly glided toward the back of his head and touched the strings behind. She was itching to pull those strings and reveal her benefactor's face.
Slowly, she grabbed one of the strings using her fingers, pinching it securely. XuanRong silently stared at Xu Fei Yi, asking for his approval. When Xu Fei Yi did not respond, only staring at her intensely, XuanRong subconsciously bit her lips due to the suspense. She was oblivious to the fact that biting her lips while half-lying on the bed only made Xu Fei Yi's throat burned while he hungrily stared at her lips, wanting to taste it once again.
"…."
Xu Fei Yi almost went insane as he tried to control his urge to press her underneath and ravish her petite body. He did not respond immediately not because he was contemplating whether to agree or not but because he was trying to control his hunger towards her. He knew she did not like being forced down. She was not an obedient kitten who liked to be petted on the head, instead, she was like an aloof female tiger who would bare fangs to those who wanted to approach her. She only let those people whom she trusted inside her life and he was aiming for that… to be her most trusted person. And in order for him to succeed, he had to take it slow and capture her completely.
"Mmmm."
Using all of his will to respond at XuanRong's pleading eyes, Xu Fei Yi managed to give a low hum.
XuanRong's eyes shone and she pulled the string, untying the knot on Xu Fei Yi's back.
*clank*
The mask fell on the ground and a small thud was heard after it fell. At the same time, a small dagger passed by on Xu Fei Yi's face, obstructing XuanRong's eyesight. The dagger reflected the light coming from the moon and was directed to XuanRong's face, hurting XuanRong's eyes. She could not help but subconsciously close her eyelids to protect her eyes from the reflection of the moonlight.
Xu Fei Yi pulled himself up and avoided the dagger. He jumped backwards and raised his arm to cover his face using his sleeves. He was fine if it was XuanRong who wanted to see his face, but it was a different matter if it was other people. He had so many enemies as the Moon Emperor and as the foolish prince, Xu Fei Yi. If one would see his face, he had no choice but to kill that person, and An Wei was not an exemption.
Due to reflex, XuanRong pressed herself on the bed in order to avoid the dagger.

The dagger broke a vase before piercing on the nearest wall.
The window opened and An Wei entered the room. He was gasping very hard as he stared at Xu Fei Yi with anger in his eyes. After leaving the residence's hall, he searched the entire XiangFu and found out that XuanRong was missing, then, he realized that XuanRong must have returned to her own courtyard after what happened a while ago. When he was near the courtyard, he sensed a dangerous aura, similar to that dangerous man who once abducted XuanRong. Thus, even if he was forbidden to enter XuanRong's courtyard without her summon, he strengthened his resolved and trespassed inside.

Fear suddenly crept inside his heart.
He was afraid.
He was afraid that XuanRong would be taken advantaged by that man.
He would be lying if he would say that he did not feel a bit of jealously towards him.
He was.
And he was aware of that.
He was aware that XuanRong would never be his, that he could only stare at her, wishing her to find her own happiness. Soon, she would marry and have children…. and he was fine with that…
As long as he could stay by her side forever.
But…
He did not want XuanRong to associate herself with that dangerous man. An Wei knew that being friends with that dangerous man would only harm XuanRong.
"Young Miss, are you okay?"
An Wei placed himself in between Xu Fei Yi and XuanRong. He protectively hid XuanRong behind her while he stared at Xu Fei Yi with animosity in his eyes. He really hated that dangerous man's guts for trying to force himself on XuanRong. If he did not arrive on time, for sure, XuanRong would have been violated by that dangerous man.
"An Wei----"
Before XuanRong could say anything, An Wei made his move, jumping forward while pulling the sword on his waist, aiming for Xu Fei Yi's vital points.

The sword struck forwards, carrying an internal force. Xu Fei Yi did not have any choice but to defend himself. His face was bare and in order to avoid from being seen, he could only continue to cover it using his sleeves. If he want to, he could just put down his arm and allow both XuanRong and An Wei to see his face. Afterwards, he could kill An Wei in order to hide his identity but Xu Fei Yi had chosen not to. He knew that once he killed An Wei, XuanRong would definitely get angry at him.
"Enough!! An Wei, stop!! Stop!!"
XuanRong snapped out of her daze and tried to pull An Wei's arm, trying to stop his action. She had seen everything. She saw that her benefactor was only defending and not attacking An Wei. She knew exactly why… it was because of her. Based on her benefactor's level in qinggong, he was higher than An Wei in terms of fighting skills. Killing An Wei was as easy as squashing an ant, but XuanRong saw that her benefactor had not bother to raise his hand and went offensive. She knew that he was giving her face, not planning to hurt her own people.
"AN WEI!!"
When An Wei dashed forward, aiming for Xu Fei Yi's heart, XuanRong suddenly jumped in front of An Wei and stretched both of her hands, forming a small barricade. When An Wei saw XuanRong trying to defend the dangerous man using her own petite body, he could not help but feel a little pang of pain inside his heart. Without any other choice, An Wei stopped his actions midway, fearing that he would hurt XuanRong if he continued.
XuanRong turned her head and looked at her benefactor.
"Go."
Her eyes were full of reluctance, but she knew that in order not to get the situation worst, she had to make him leave.
Without any other choice, Xu Fei Yi could only nod his head before jumping out of the window.
When the only people left inside the room were XuanRong and An Wei, the entire room fell into silence.
Not able to bear the deafening silence, An Wei opened his mouth to speak.
"Young Miss, why did you stop this subordinate? This subordinate was---"
"Enough!"
XuanRong could not help but raise her voice. She was feeling frustrated when she was not able to see her benefactor's face.
"Young Miss----"
"An Wei, I know that you are only thinking of my well-being but, please do not decide on yourself."
"Young Miss, this subordinate was only trying to protect Young Miss from any harm. That man is very dangerous. Young Miss should avoid him at all cost. Young Miss should-----"
*Baaam!*
XuanRong slapped her left hand on the table. She could not help but get angry at An Wei when he said those words.
"The man whom you said that was dangerous was my benefactor. He once saved my life and I owe him once. How could you say that towards my benefactor? Tell me, should I not be grateful towards him?"
Hearing XuanRong's words, An Wei fell silence but few seconds later, he opened his mouth and spoke once again.
"Young Miss, this subordinate knows that Young Miss was only expressing your gratitude, but Young Miss should not let that man take advantage of you. Your subordinate is only worried that he would only bring you harm. You have already showed your gratitude towards him, it's already enough. Young Miss, you must not----"
XuanRong glared at An Wei.
"What? You are trying to stop me from seeing him?"

An Wei started panicking when he hear XuanRong's words. The pain inside her eyes pierced An Wei's heart. He wanted to apologize but he could not utter the words. He wanted to move forward and hold her tight.
But….
He knew that it was already too late.
XuanRong was hurt.
Because he lied.
"Leave. I don't want to see you."
XuanRong sat down and closed her eyes, refusing to look at An Wei.
"This subordinate will leave immediately."
Without any other choice, An Wei could only vanish in the shadow, leaving XuanRong alone inside the inner room.

Xu Ji An rubbed his aching head. He felt like his brain was about to explode. He groggily sat up, trying to recall what happened before he fell asleep. Eyes still closed, Xu Ji An tried to remember the reason why his body ached. Suddenly, bits and pieces of memories entered his mind.

Xu Ji An suddenly opened his eyes and turned his head. He stared at the place next to him.

"Who is it?"

When Xu Ji An learned that it was XuanLi, his face lightened up but he still tried to cover up his happiness. Since something already happened between him and XuanRong, it could be considered that XuanLi was now his future father-in-law.
