Xiao Yun continued to urge himself to persevere.  Relying on this shred of conviction, he unexpectedly defended his mind from falling apart.  Gradually, the feeling of his spirit burning from the Martial Spirit's flames began to disappear. He even started to sense his fusion with the heat wave.

However, this was only a preliminary fusion and he needed more time consolidate it with the heaven-devouring divine arts.             

"He succeeded in the fusion?" Heaven-Devouring Sparrow muttered to himself in surprise.  Fusion with a Martial Spirit was incomparably dangerous.  A rogue Martial Spirit of an expert was like a soul and would still contain the pride of that expert.  Even without a consciousness, it would reject any attempts to control it. In the past, many cultivators had tried to obtain Martial Spirits left behind by ancient cultivators, but few truly succeed.  The rest either had their minds shattered or swallowed by the Martial Spirit, leaving the cultivator foolish. "Don't tell me he really succeeded in fusing with the Violet Flame Martial Spirit!" The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow muttered again.  As if replying to him, Xiao Yun's Dantian trembled and the cyclone turned into ball of purple flames.             

"He succeeded?" The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow stared closely at the boy's Dantian.

The purple flames in Xiao Yun's Dantian flickered and a heat wave flowed out like before. However, this time, the heat wave was not as frantic and berserk.             

"Really? He succeeded?"  Feeling the wave, the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow couldn't help but be stunned.

The flames flashed and flew out of the Dantian, then rushed into the acupuncture point between Xiao Yun's eyebrows.  They appeared inside his sea of consciousness showing that he had succeeded with the fusion.             

"Really? Is this kid even human?" The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow couldn't help but howl at the heavens. Originally, he had wanted to the use the Violet Flame Martial Spirit to trick Xiao Yun and use it to break away from his confinement.  Unexpectedly, he had actually helped Xiao Yun and now the already hard-to-handle youth was like a tiger with wings.             

After the purple flame entered Xiao Yun's sea of consciousness and settled next to his Martial Spirit, it emitted a spirit wave.             

"Big Brother? Is this you?" Lil Violet blinked and looked inquisitively at the violet flames.  She was very careful as she knew that the violet flame was not ordinary and did not want to be burned.  However, her gem-like pupils stared deeply at the flames with astonishment. Why does big brother suddenly have this purple flame?             

"Yes. That is a part of me." Xiao Yun's voice came out from within the violet flame.  Now that the Martial Spirit was a part of him, his mind was linked with it.  The feeling as if it was a part of his own body made Xiao Yun rather happy.

"Big Brother is amazing!" Lil Violet exclaimed, her face filled with adoration.

To the side, the jade branch Martial Spirit stirred and cried out as it sensed the pure violet flames.             

"Hey! This Violet Flame Martial Spirit is a part of me now! Don’t get any ideas about it!"  Xiao Yun yelled at his Life Martial Spirit.  He knew that it wanted to absorb the pure flame essence from the violet Martial Spirit.  Fortunately, once it heard Xiao Yun's voice, it quieted down.             

"Boy, now that you have finished the fusion, you can release me right?" The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow asked.             

"Release you?" Xiao Yun's mind entered the tower as he replied, "Do you really think I did not know your plan?"             

Xiao Yun had already foreseen the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow's plan, but he still continued because of his desire for the Martial Spirit.             

"You misunderstand. Do you think I am such a despicable person?" The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow embarrassingly laughed. However, he was internally puzzled. How can a 15 year old be so mature?             

"You aren't even a person. Just one look and I already know you are not a good bird. In the future, refrain from using this excuse," Xiao Yun sneered with derision.             

"Sure, sure. In the future, we will work together properly." The Heaven-Devouring Sparrow's eyebrows twitched with a bit of dissatisfaction but he had no choice other than to smile in front of Xiao Yun.  After all, this kid could refine him to death and at that point, regret would be too late. Everything was okay as long as he stayed alive.

Seeing the sparrow's forced, happy expression, Xiao Yun ignored him. All he needed to do was be a bit careful around this stupid bird and he would not need to worry.              

Xiao Yun, then extended his spirit energy around him to survey his surroundings.             

"There is a stone room inside." Xiao Yun's eyes filled with a glow as he walked towards the room.             

"This should be a room left behind by that expert," the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow chimed in.             

The stone room was empty except for a corpse. Its clothes had already become piles of ash after all these years.  The corpse's bones were sparkling and flickering in the light, as if they were made from jade. The bones were mottled with fractures and its chest was completely caved in.  Clearly, the person had sustained heavy injuries before he died. Seeing this corpse, Xiao Yun couldn't help but sigh. From the Martial Spirit left behind by this senior, he knew that this corpse belonged to a powerful expert, but even he could not escape death.             

"Please forgive junior for disturbing your eternal rest," Xiao Yun sighed with sorrow.  He knew that the Martial Spirit was from this expert and that he should pay respect for the favors he had received.             

"It's only a dead corpse. What is the need to ask for forgiveness?" Heaven-Devouring Sparrow muttered under his breath.             

Xiao Yun ignored the bird and got on his knees to bow. He kowtowed his head three times as thanks for obtaining this expert's inheritance before getting up.

Once Xiao Yun got up, the floor trembled and a black square opened up.  Unexpectedly, Xiao Yun's head touched the black square when he kowtowed and activated something.             

"Senior left something behind?" Xiao Yun stared blankly at the small hole.  In the hole was small, unadorned box with something inside.             

"Yi? There is still something else?" the Heaven-Devouring Sparrow cried out in alarm.

"What could be inside?" Xiao Yun asked inquisitively as he cautiously took out the small box.  The top of the box felt warm like there was a small flame inside. He slowly opened the box and inside, he found an ancient text.             

Violet Flame Pill Principles!

Xiao Yun stared blankly and said, "An ancient text about refining pills?"  

As he picked up the ancient text, Xiao Yun found a sheet of paper with handwritten notes on it.

I am the Violet Flame King and I am from a pill sect's master pill refiner. Unexpectedly, I suffered the jealousy of my sect members.... If you are reading this, it must be fate. I hope you can use these pill refining insights and pass them on.

As Xiao Yun read, he began to understand the Violet Flame King’s splendid life.  The Violet Flame King was an expert and a master pill refiner.  He had obtained a piece of information abouta legendary pill recipe for the Nine Revolving God Pill which was coveted by his sect members.  Sadly, he suffered an assassination attempt and with great difficulty, escaped with a sliver of his life.  He ran from a foreign land to this barren landscape, but his injury was too severe and he died.  In the end, all he wished for was to pass on his insights. As for taking revenge, the Violet Flame King didn't mention it and only expressed regret.

Besides the box, the Violet Flame King also left an ancient cauldron for refining pills and a map.  Xiao Yun explored a bit more in the dark hole and found the cauldron on top of a map. He excitedly took both items out. The cauldron was three feet wide with two handles and a complicated veined pattern.  The map was very detailed but unfortunately, it did not seem to be complete.  Two-thirds of it were still missing.

"This region seems like the Falling Sacred Mountain range, one of the Heavenly Capital Domain's restricted area!" Heaven-Devouring Sparrow suddenly exclaimed with passion in his eyes. "Could it be that the legendary pill recipe for the Nine Revolving God Pill is there?"
