‘Big sister, are you pregnant…’ Gu Jiao Mai asked.

‘Jiao Mai,’ Du Lei Xin called. ‘Let’s go home to tell the good news to our families.’

‘Um,’ Gu Jiao Mai said and followed Du Lei Xin to the car.

‘Tan Yuan, before did you want to say you didn’t have the procedure?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘Jiao Wu… I couldn’t kill our baby,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘When I was pregnant with Xiao Bao, I lost all hope to be with you. But Xiao Bao saved me. I’m not saying this to hurt you. I’m saying this for you to understand why I want this baby. This baby is different to Xiao Bao, we conceived this baby out of love.’

Gu Jiao Wu hugged Qiao Tan Yuan. In the past he didn’t love Qiao Tan Yuan, he heartlessly told her to abort Gu Ting Ding. But toward the Qiao Tan Yuan he fell in love with, she was his number one priority. He would support her decision whether to keep their second child or not except he was reluctant to let her suffer to give birth to their second child.

‘Jiao Wu, I want to give birth to our baby,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

‘Tan Yuan, I don’t want you to suffer,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘I’ll be OK,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Jiao Wu, I promise after this baby is born, I won’t have another child.’

‘Tan Yuan if you want this baby then you have to promise you’ll listen to me,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘I promise,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Gu Jiao Wu took Qiao Tan Yuan to the Gu Mansion to see Gu Ting Ding, and to tell the elders the good news.

Gu Tian Chu was the happiest to hear good news about Qiao Tan Yuan and Gu Jiao Mai’s pregnancy.

Wang Tu Ya was elated to hear she would have a second grandchild, and she suggested for Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan to live at the Gu Mansion while Qiao Tan Yuan was pregnant for her to help take care of Qiao Tan Yuan and her second grandchild.

Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan agreed. After dinner at the Gu Mansion they went home to pack and sleep.

Gu Jiao Wu helped Qiao Tan Yuan to lie on their bed.

‘Tan Yuan, are you sure you want to keep this baby?’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

Gu Jiao Wu didn’t favor girls or boys. Qiao Tan Yuan and Gu Ting Ding were his world. He didn’t desire to have a son like most men.

‘Yes,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘It’s good this time I have you by my side to see our baby grow in my stomach.’

‘There’s nothing good about seeing you suffer,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘It’s worth it to have this baby to hear you care about me,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan’s black nightgown was slipping off her shoulder. Gu Jiao Wu put his hands on her shoulders to help it slip further down her body.

‘Jiao Wu… the doctor said it’s not safe for us to do it during the first trimester,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Gu Jiao Wu’s hands froze, and he cursed himself for not using protection on his wedding night.

‘Jiao Wu, our baby is seven weeks old,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Another month will fly by fast.’

‘One month?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

Gu Jiao Wu thought if he had to endure one month, at least he could still kiss Qiao Tan Yuan. He pulled her close to him, he kissed her lips and tasted her sweet mouth.

Gu Jiao Wu let go of Qiao Tan Yuan before he couldn’t let go of her anymore.

‘Tan Yuan, if you want another child after giving birth to this child, my limit is three children,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘We can’t have more than three children.’

‘Three?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked. ‘Am I a pig? Three children is too much. I don’t know if we can cope with two children.’

‘Alright,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Go to sleep. I’ll suffer for you and our baby.’

‘What suffer?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked. ‘Jiao Wu, I’m the one who has to suffer to have our baby.’

Gu Jiao Wu kissed Qiao Tan Yuan’s forehead, and closed his eyes. He pictured their second child would be smart and adorable like Gu Ting Ding, and he felt blessed to have a second child with Qiao Tan Yuan.

In the morning when Gu Jiao Wu saw Qiao Tan Yuan vomit in the toilet, he didn’t think having a second child was a blessing anymore.

‘Tan Yuan, are OK?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked and patted Qiao Tan Yuan’s back.
