‘Tan Yuan, are you sure you can go to work in this condition?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked.

‘Yes,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

‘Do you want me to help you dress?’ Gu Jiao Wu asked and smiled.

‘No,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Stay away.’

‘Alright,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I’ll go cook breakfast for you. Come downstairs when you’re dressed.’

‘OK,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan walked to the wardrobe, and she chose one of the new outfits Gu Jiao Wu bought her.

Qiao Tan Yuan dressed, prepared for work and she walked downstairs to the dining room to have breakfast with Gu Jiao Wu.

‘Tan Yuan, I want to marry you soon,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘Jiao Wu… our parents…’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

Qiao Tan Yuan didn’t want to give hers and Gu Jiao Wu’s parents the same grief as last time. She was scarred from a failed marriage, and a cancelled wedding.

‘Tan Yuan, don’t worry,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I’ll explain everything to our parents and the elders. I’ll let them know this time we’ll be doing all the wedding planning ourselves.’

‘OK,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said.

In the evening, Gu Jiao Wu picked up Qiao Tan Yuan from work and drove them to the Qiao Mansion.

‘Dad, mum, this time I promise I’m marrying Tan Yuan,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

‘Jiao Wu, I can forget about the past but I truly hope this time you can make Tan Yuan happy,’ Mrs Qiao said.

‘Mum, I promise I’ll make Tan Yuan happy,’ Gu Jiao Wu said.

Mr Qiao agreed with Mrs Qiao, as long as Qiao Tan Yuan was happy, they were willing to give their blessing.

After Gu Jiao Wu received Mr and Mrs Qiao’s blessing to marry Qiao Tan Yuan, he and Qiao Tan Yuan returned to the Gu Mansion.

‘I promise this time I’ll marry Tan Yuan,’ Gu Jiao Wu said to the elders.

‘Xiao Bao isn’t getting any younger,’ Wang Tu Ya said. ‘You and Tan Yuan should get married before Xiao Bao’s wedding.’

Since the elders from the Gu and Qiao Households gave their blessing, Gu Jiao Wu and Qiao Tan Yuan planned their wedding together.

The following week, Qiao Tan Yuan received an uninvited visitor in her work office.

‘Mr Quan, don’t you know it’s polite to knock before you enter someone else’s office?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked coldly.

‘You’re getting married?’ Quan Zheng Hao asked.

‘Yes,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘My wedding has nothing to do with you.’

‘Your wedding is my business,’ Quan Zheng Hao said. ‘Why are you marrying him? My company’s products are ready to be launched.’

‘Congratulations,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘Hopefully both our companies will profit.’

‘You promised you’ll give me a chance to be with you if I succeed,’ Quan Zheng Hao said.

‘Mr Quan, I’ll never be with you,’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I love my husband. Mr Quan, I hope we’ll continue to have a good work relationship.’

‘Qiao Tan Yuan, I love you,’ Quan Zheng Hao said.

‘What do you want me to say?’ Qiao Tan Yuan said. ‘I told you, I love my husband. I hope you understand.’

Qiao Tan Yuan and Gu Jiao Wu had registered their marriage. They were legally married. But she didn’t want to share the good news with outsiders.

Quan Zheng Hao grabbed Qiao Tan Yuan’s arm.

‘Qiao Tan Yuan, I love you,’ Quan Zheng Hao said. ‘Don’t marry him. Give me a chance to make you happy. You can’t marry him, it’s not fair to me if you marry him.’

‘Fair?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked. ‘Mr Quan, I don’t like you. Also, you need to be respectful and call me Mrs Gu.’

Suddenly Quan Zheng Hao pulled Qiao Tan Yuan close to him, and he lowered his head to kiss her.

The door slammed opened, Gu Jiao Wu strode into the room ready to kill Quan Zheng Hao.

Qiao Tan Yuan pushed the shocked Quan Zheng Hao away from her, she walked to Gu Jiao Wu and she linked arms with Gu Jiao Wu.

‘Jiao Wu, why are you here?’ Qiao Tan Yuan asked.

‘Our wedding reception is booked,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘I wanted to take you to the hotel to see the reception hall layout.’ He walked Qiao Tan Yuan to the door then he turned around to glare at Quan Zheng Hao. ‘Mr Quan, Tan Yuan is my wife. I hope in the future you’ll be respectful toward my wife.’

‘Gu Jiao Wu, I want to compete fairly with you,’ Quan Zheng Hao said.

‘Mrs Gu, I didn’t know you were this sought after,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘You’re my wife, but you still have other men’s admiration.’

‘Now you know,’ Qiao Tan Yuan teased. ‘There are many men lining up to take your wife away.’

‘Mr Quan, you don’t have a chance to compete with me,’ Gu Jiao Wu said. ‘Last weekend Tan Yuan and I registered our marriage. Tan Yuan is legally my wife. You need to call her Mrs Gu.’

‘Impossible,’ Quan Zheng Hao said.
