After returning from Duke Valentino’s residence, Adeline had gone insane.

The precious daughter of the Alvinith Duchy, the Duke’s favorite child.

“Adeline, what on earth happened…?”

“Hahaha… Hihihi…”

Despite Duke Alvinith’s question, Adeline just laughed in rapture. Her eyes were hazy as she stared into space, and drool flowed from her open mouth.

Duke Alvinith swallowed his tears seeing her like this—truly too far gone. She was a daughter who he had raised by always giving and showing her only the good things. He was extremely upset that his daughter became like this.

‘Is it really true that she met a bandit on her way back from Valentino castle… Or, is it a lie made up by Duke Valentino?’

Lord Alvinith was lost in thought. Although her magical talent was not outstanding, Adeline was not incompetent. She had the strength to protect herself. Plus, she has layers of protection magic, so she can’t get injured easily.

He also gave Adeline a magic tool to move around, but she lost it? No matter how much he thought about it, it was strange. Adeline has never been the type of child to lose something important.

‘There was someone dangerous among the bandits. I don’t know for sure, but I think he was the one who hurt Adeline.’

Duke Valentino, who had rescued Adeline from the bandits, said so. The knights who accompanied Adeline said that they had no memory at the time.

It was unbelievable. Was there really someone in the bandits who uses such strange tricks? But how can a single bandit…

‘I’ll have to catch that bandit to find a clue…’

Yet his search made no progress. Now he was almost doubtful whether the bandits really existed.

If Duke Valentino lied, it was questionable why. He wouldn’t have any reason to harm Adeline…

“…….”

Duke Alvinith, who was silently staring at his daughter who was smiling into space, sighed deeply. He stood up with a worried look and spoke affectionately to her daughter as always.

“Adele, I don’t know who made you like this, but I will definitely find them and avenge you.”

“Hehehe…”

“…….”

Duke Alvinith shook his head and slowly turned back, looking at his daughter laughing as she lost her senses.

After he left the room, Adeline was left alone. She got out of bed as if she had been possessed by something.

She opened the bottom drawer of her chest of drawers and took out something. It was a top-of-the-line magic tool made of pure gold pendant with jewels embedded in it.

Adeline muttered, holding it and walking lightly with bare feet.

“Let’s go… I have to go see him soon…”

A moment later, her figure disappeared from the bedroom.

The place where Adeline arrived using the magic tool was a lonely wasteland without a single blade of grass.

She walked slowly toward the deep pit in the middle of it.

She didn’t look afraid. She smiled rather happily, and she stopped in front of the pit and spread her arms wide.

“I’m going to fly, fly high…”

Her body as she muttered like a song, slowly tilted towards the pit.

Her feet leave the ground and she begins to fall head first.

And in an instant, Adeline form was swallowed up in its thick darkness.

“…As I reported, Lady Alvinith has been missing for two days, and although the search for her continues, no trace of her has been found.”

“…….”

After hearing Carmen’s report, Theodore put down the coin he was rolling in his hand. The desk was full of documents that had accumulated while he was away from the estate.

Although he was mechanically processing the documents one by one, he seemed unable to concentrate on his work at all.

Still, he had some little sleep, his face, which had been tired for several days, seemed to have gained some vitality.

But his eyes… still felt hazy and distant, as if he was staring somewhere else rather than here.

Theodore looked like he had been drugged. Carmen felt blasphemous for thinking such things towards her master, but what could she do when he looked like that? Carmen wiggled her hand with an embarrassed face.

“As you ordered, we will continue to keep an eye on House Alvinith. And speaking of the case you had previously entrusted with investigating…”

Theodore, who had no interest in Lady Alvinith, finally responded. A strangeness appeared in his eyes as he looked at Carmen. Carmen continued calmly.

“I found out about… Missus Seymour’s past activities…”

That day, what Adeline gave him was a love potion.

He had been suspicious of Adeline’s attitude from the beginning. Still, the reason he drank the tea was to make her commit a little more sin.

So that she wouldn’t be comfortable even if she died.

After he returned Adeline to Duke Alvinith’s castle, he had Derek analyze the tea’s ingredients.

As a result, it was revealed that love potion was mixed into the tea.

‘This is originally a potion that makes you fall deeply in love with the first person you see after drinking it… It seems to have had a completely different effect on Master.’

Derek said so.

Presumably, Adeline fed him the love potion in hopes that its effects would work against her.

However, the person on whom the potion worked was none other than Lily.

Thinking of Lily, missing Lily, wanting Lily, and yearning for her increased so much that it became unbearable.

Lily also appeared in his dream. Blaming him and shedding tears, or running away somewhere. In his dreams, she seemed like she could not be caught… No, it wasn’t just in the dream. Even in reality, her existence was in danger as if it would disappear.

Although she was by his side now, she felt so far away. Like she was someone who would leave any time.

That sense of distance was driving Theodore crazy.

He doesn’t want to lose her, he doesn’t want to miss her like this, he can’t let her go away like this forever.

He was seized with a fear he had never known before. It was clearly driving him insane to feel that his existence was insignificant to the person he was longing for, that he was not special and unique.

He was nothing to her.

‘It wasn’t like that before.’

Yes, that’s what she felt now.

There was no longer the same affection in her eyes as she looked at him.

Just resignation, deep-seated resentment, and immeasurable sadness.

How can he ask for forgiveness? It was him who had neglected her and pushed her to the point that she felt this way…

…There were only a few things he could do: give her some of his life force so that her health could be restored, so that she could live comfortably in Valentino castle.

And…
