Time passed. I walked and walked for a long time while following the small light.

When climbing the old stone steps, I had to be careful not to accidentally trip and fall. The width of the stairs was very narrow, so it was, to me, just like a stairway to heaven.

In addition, there were places where it would crumble if stepped on due to it being too old. For the first time in my life, I was grateful that I didn’t weigh too much.

[ We’re almost there. Just a little further. ]

The small light whispered sweetly. Taking care of me, who couldn’t walk fast, she slowly led the way and illuminated the path on my feet. I was sure that the small light had a thoughtful personality during her lifetime.

Why did the parents of this small light abandon such a good child? In this deep abyss, no less. Just because she was born with the qualities to be a mage.

[ Phew, we’re here! Right here! ]

The small light spoke as we arrived on the fifteenth floor. I entered a huge stone chamber following the small light that was flying gently.

The inside of the stone chamber was still very dark, smelling of damp mold and moss. Mushrooms, mold and moss naturally grew in a place like this where there was no sunlight.

[ Sister, is it too dark? Hold on. Umm… ]

The small light flew somewhere in the stone chamber and touched something on the wall and floor one by one.

Suddenly, a soft blue light illuminated the darkness. She was like a firefly. Surprised and dazed, I belatedly noticed that the lights were coming from several mushrooms.

The thing that the little light touched earlier was those mushrooms.

[ Isn’t it amazing? These mushrooms glow when I touch them. ]

“…Yes, it’s amazing.”

I examined the mushrooms up close. The bluish-colored thin mushrooms looked ordinary on the outside. I thought I would die if I ate it.

The moment I thought of it, I suddenly realized that I was very hungry.

Unconsciously, I put my hand on my stomach. I don’t know how many hours it’s been since I lost consciousness, but it must have been a long time since I had lunch. I was quite hungry.

…However, there seemed to be nothing else to eat in this stone chamber. Not just this stone chamber, but the entire abyss. Of course. This place was abandoned hundreds of years ago.

‘…I’m hungry.’

I used to be a person with no appetite that I thought I might be a corpse. I couldn’t understand what gluttony or gastronomy was, food for me was just something I ate for survival.

But, in this environment where I had to survive desperately, I got very hungry. I wanted to eat something.

Fortunately, on our way here, the small light pointed to a place where clear spring water came out. I managed to quench my thirst with that water.

However, there’s no way I could feel full after drinking only a few sips of water. Even if it wasn’t so, I was gradually losing strength from my weak body…

If I couldn’t get out of this abyss, I might really die.

“So… What is that dangerous thing? Where is it so I can wake it up? Is it in this stone chamber?”

As I struggled to ask, the small light shook up and down like mimicking a nod. Then, she answered with a tremble.

[ But it is truly terrifying. Sister, you might as well not wake it up. ]

“…Thank you for worrying about me. But I have to get out of here. So if I can get out of here by waking up the being, I will.”

The small light sighed heavily, and then said in a helpless tone.

[ Alright then… I’ll tell you where the being sleeps. This way. ]

The small light started to go somewhere. I followed the small lights and crossed the wide stone chamber. The sound of my footsteps echoed loudly in the cave-like stone chamber.

The small light continued to lead the way, intermittently touching the mushrooms to illuminate them…

Come to think of it, why do those mushrooms react when a small light touches them? Does it have anything to do with her being a ghost?

‘Or, the small light could have something to do with being magic-sensitive during her life…’

As I was thinking about it.

The small light stopped abruptly. I also stopped my steps… There was a huge sarcophagus in front.

[ …That’s it. ]

The small light hovered over the sarcophagus. It seems to be a good two and a half meters in length…
