Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening Chapter 313 Journey VI : Dark Elves & Hunters

For some reason I felt nervous, I didn't know where Kael was, but I could still feel his emotions, and if I wanted to, I could talk to him, though that would take too much energy. But wherever he was, he was also feeling nervous, and it was affecting me too.

I turned to look at Xaseah with a worried look on my face, but all she could do was give me a shrug of her shoulders. She felt it too, but she had no idea where he was, or what he was probably doing, just like me. Kael is annoying, or to be more precise his habit of always running off alone is annoying, he should stay closer, that way I wouldn't have to sorry too much.

But we both have duties now, responsibilities we had to take care of. Unfortunately no matter how much it irks me, he no longer belonged to me alone, sharing him with Xaseah was no problem, but now we had an entire nation to share him with. Maybe I'm being a little selfish, but at this point I'm allowed to be, we've both given and sacrificed so much for the people we love already.

"Your Highness, let me present the dark elf sages of planet Fildelir!" Farina's voice brought me out of my self contemplating session, as the doors to the grand hall opened up.

There were five elves, and though the guards were watching them closely, even with weapons pointed at them, all five of the elves did not even show the slightest hints of nervousness. They were so relaxed that I felt the need to unsettled them a bit, but that would be beyond petty, and as a queen I believe I'm beyond that. Besides I'm much too old to play such a prank on anyone.

All five elves were decked in military grade space suits, the kind that's worn under battle armor. Of course the armor was missing, they probably had to take it off before being granted audience with me. I turned to look at Xaseah as she stared at the elves, the only thing similar about she and them, was her silver hair and tipped ears.

Xaseah was a night elf; her skin was pitch black and dotted with numerous white spots, making her skin seem like a living version of a night sky. Night elves were rare, and at the moment not counting Xaseah, there should only about 600 of them alive on Shearath, at least that's what the records say.

Dark elves on the other hand are not so rare, but just like every other elven race, there's not a lot of them either. They had grey skin and brightly colored eyes ranging from different shades of green to red and purple. They were masters of the assassination arts, witchcraft, and have superb control over the dark element. For all intents and purposes, you could say they're very much like vampires, though with a few notable differences to set both races apart.

I watched as the dark elf sages walked forward, until they got to the huge set of stairs where the 24 council chairs were waiting. At the moment, only four of those seats were occupied, making it seems really sparse. The current members of the council were Asare for the humans and other races without a big enough population to own a seat on the council. The Naga king was still serving as a representative to the Serpentis, which afforded him a seat. Farina was representing the vampires, and Galadriel the Nephilim.

The making of any decisions are to be decided by us in the absence of Kael, the only problem being that none of them had the guts to play politics with me, at least not yet. So the most they could do right now is support whatever ideas I threw forth, they were just figure heads at the moment, and it would take them quite a significant amount of time to build up the power necessary to have a say in the way things were run in Ethernalia Leonis, so for now if I say yes they nod their heads, and if I say no they shake it. The only exception to this rule is Asare, after all; he's Kael's most devout subordinate, and there's no way he would keep silent if I was making a bad decision. I trusted him and Xaseah to keep me on the right path.

"Your Majesty Queen Asha of Ethernalia Leonis, and Your Majesty Queen Xaseah of Ethernalia Leonis, we humbly offer out thanks for granting us an audience with your illustrious figures, may your reign be long and prosperous." A dark elf man came forward to say.

He was rather eloquent I give him that, the making of a true politician. And a very good one at that, seeing as his words had evoked a pleased feeling from Xaseah. I couldn't help but smile. For someone who kept on insisting that she ready didn't give a shit about being queen, receiving the respect and honor of a queen made her really excited, what a hypocrite. But I guess it's my time to answer.

"I'm sure you're not here just to flatter me and my sister wife dark elf. So let's skill the formalities and get straight to the point. Who are you and what do you want."

Was that too harsh…..maybe. But this is the only way I know how to play politics. I'm a fairly good scheme, I could plot with the best of them if I do say so myself, but my political battles and stances have always followed one particular trend, and that's dominance. I'm all for an amicable partnership or relationship with any other party, it's just that they have to remember that I hold all the chips, that I'm stronger and betrayal would not be tolerated.

"Yes of course your Majesty, forgive me for wasting your time. My name is Mondo, current prime sage in service to the queen of the dark elves Minera Jinn Selkirk III. Third of her name, friend of nature, born of darkness, queen of shadows and daughter of earth.

We're here on behalf of our queen and people to ask for asylum, and help in defeating the scourge that is now plaguing our planet....the Toroth. We were asked to come to you for help by a young general in your army, I believe his name is Kodak."

Well shit just got complicated, if Kodak sent them here, then he did so with the authority of the king, Kael's authority. If I deny them any help, or even a chance to save their planet, then I would be spitting on the words of the king, of my own husband. This would be counter productive for our image, plus if Kael was here, I know he wouldn't turn them away, not when an entire planet was in danger. But good will is not enough, it would be beyond stupid for us to bite off more than we can chew, but I didn't have it in my to turn them away, at least not before I confirm their story.

"I know of how vile the Toroth are, they're a rage of savage avian, greedy and selfish, not to mention bloodthirsty and brutal. But this decision is not something I can make so easily, please understand. I doubt that you have much time on your hands, seeing as you came here in a hurry and you're all still decked in your battle gears. I need time to discuss with the council so that we can come with a solution.

However to avoid an untoward developments, a refugee camps would be built on the outskirts of the city, close enough that we can protect you. But the camps would only be for your young, and elderly. Until we make a decision, this is the best we can do. Your queen is also welcome to join us here in the palace, I won't hesitate to host her and her retinue. It wouldn't take long for us to make a decision, at the very least a week should be enough. But for now please make do with what we've offered." I said to him.

"Thank you my queen, you're a gracious and kind as your people think of you. We will wait for your answer, but we also have to discuss what has been offered with our queen. We will be back tomorrow with a response to the offering of a refugee camp, while we wait for your answers in regards to the help you're offering." Mondo said as he bowed so low his long hair brushed the ground.

"With your permission your Majesty, we would like to go make a report now." He said to me.

"No problem Mondo, you and your sages can leave now. I wish you good luck."

"Thank you for your kind words your Majesty."

And with that said, they turned and left the grand hall, leaving me with a dilemma on my hands, and a council I wasn't so sure I could trust to make a decision.

UNKNOWN LOCATION

A pair of hulking reptilian men trusted through a barren valley, cursing the heat and the land itself as they tracked their prey. A cursory look at this pair of lizard men would tell you that they were not here for any sort of sight seeing. Decked in the most sophisticated weapons and armor, coupled with a glare etched on faces only seen in nightmares, these guys were here on a hunt.

"Number 22 are you sure we're on the right trail, this Kael Cor person seems to be moving at too fast a speed." One of the lizard men with the number 44 branded on his forehead asked the other more ferocious looking lizard man with the number 22 branded on his muscular arm.

"Well that's to be expected 44,he's a vampire, not to mention reports say that he has some sort mount with him. It would take us a while not catch up to him, but you don't have to worry about that, because we will catch him. Kael Cor has been marked for death by the fellowship, the bounty on his head is just a bonus for us." 22 said to 44.

"But why did the fellowship deem Kael Cor a target for elimination. I know we don't really need that bounty, we're rich enough as it is, and I doubt Kael Cor is a threat, he's just one man." 44 spoke up with confusion etched on his reptilian face.

"You're still young and somewhat naïve, so you don't understand what's going on. Yes Kael Cor is just one man, but he's also more than that, he's a vampire, and a King, and to make matters worse he's in possession of one of the most powerful classes in the universe. And this is a universe that has been torturing vampires for hundreds of thousands of years, he's going to come for revenge. And he has the money and the connection to stand toe to toe with the fellowship.

When he was human, we would have ignored his antics of saving vampires as a childish endeavor, but now that he's a vampire and is getting stronger by the day, the Fellowship is in threat of his assault. After all the fellowship owns the largest vampire farm in the universe, we've been breeding and training them for as long as they been prisoners. And there are millions of vampires under out thumb, vampires that are now making hushed whispers of rebellion under the name of Kael Cor. He has to die, before everything we've built falls to the ground, without him doing anything but existing." 22 said to 44

"But won't killing him make him Martyr, his death would rally not just the vampires, but also every other race that he has given a chance to be a part of his city. Just talking about the millions of unsealed vampires alone would send shivers down the spine of any trained veteran, they're to powerful." 44 complained.

"I'm well aware 44, that's why Kael Cor won't die, he's just going to disappear from the face of the earth. He's in this barren and cursed place, all alone and away from the eyes of his people, no one would know he was dead, just that he disappeared. And eventually his name would be forgotten, and everything would be as it once was. That's the plan, now pick up the pace, I can feel him, he's close."
