Finding Glowing Beauty in Books Chapter 26 part1

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? It is already the 2nd week of August now…. A busy month for me both at work and at home. It is the boys summer school holidays… gosh, and its a long break too!

The power outbreak is putting Lan Ning into an anxious mood while Yan Ru Yu seems so calm as ever. When will the electricity be restored? Enjoy the read today!

Chapter 26.1: 

After getting rid of Yan Ru Yu, Lan Ning sitting alone in the dining room eating the fried rice.

Probably because the stomach is filled, those shaking trees no longer look scary. Lan Ning took the flashlight and head back into her room. She fell onto the bed and fell fast asleep.

When she finally open her eyes, the day has brighten.

The first thing is getting down to the point. Lan Ning switch on the switch on the wall. But the lights in the room still did not light up.

Well, maybe it is still too early. The maintenance staff requires time to get here.

She went to wash her face and change her clothes before heading downstairs.

Yan Ru Yu is sitting in the living room drinking his coffee. There is the bread and jam on the table. Lan Ning walked over and saw the bruise on the left side of his mouth.

“Puff!” It does seem now that she was a little hard last night when she punched him.

Nicely punched!

Yan Ru Yu heard her laughter and turned to looked at her: “What are you laughing at?”

“Nothing. I just felt particularly good today.” Lan Ning endured her laughter and tried to make her eyes look sincere.

Yan Ru Yu sip the coffee. The wound touched the coffee and came a trace of pain. He picked up the book in his hand and began to read the book silently.

Lan Ning looked at the coffee cup on the table. She felt a little strange and asked: “There is no electricity. How did you managed to brew the coffee?”

Yan Ru Yu asked her back: “Do you think that human need electricity to brew coffee? Before the invention of electricity, how are the coffee prepared?”

Lan Ning: “………………..”

Do you need to be so sharp early in the morning?

She walked silently towards the kitchen. She saw the siphon pot on the table. Oh, he brewed the coffee using the alcohol lamp ah.

There are some coffee left in the pot. It looks that it is still hot. She took the handle and pour the coffee into the empty cup. Just nice, the amount of a cup of coffee.

As she was walking back into the living room, she heard Yan Ru Yu said: “Now the modern people are really dependent on the modern high technologies.”

Lan Ning: “………………..”

She wisely choose not to express her views. She took the bread and spread the jam. She asked Yan Ru Yu whom is sitting opposite of her: “When will the electricity be restored ah?”

Yan Ru Yu turned the pages of the book in the hand. He replied without lifting his head: “I do not know. I called the manager in the morning. He only said he will try his best to come as soon as possible.”

Lan Ning gently frowned, a little worried: “Then how do you write ah? Your laptop still have battery?”

“There should still be some battery left. Let’s just wait. The electricity should be restored by afternoon.”

“Oh……”

Laptop without battery is just like scrap iron. Yan Ru Yu’s manuscripts and the outline of these documents are certainly in the laptop. Even if one is anxious, there is nothing that can be done to hurry.

Both of them stayed in the villa and read the entire morning. After lunch, the electricity has yet been restored. Lan Ning is getting really anxious. “What to do…. there is still no electricity. How to finish your manuscipt?”

Tomorrow is the deadline that the editor had given her. And if she still cannot submit the manuscript, her ‘death’ is inevitable. The editor will not care that there is a power outage!

“You wait. I go and make the call to the management.” Yan Ru Yu walked to the landline and dialed to the management. He asked a few words and then hang up the phone.

“How is it?” Lan Ning looked at him eagerly.

“The management says that the staff are still working on the repair. It seems that it is a little tricky.”

Lan Ning frowned and then complained to him: “This is all your fault! Nothing to do why must go into the mountains and forests to write manuscript! Now there is no electricity, how to write the manuscripts ah? Or let’s quickly go back into the city. Maybe it is not too late still!”

Yan Ru Yu glanced at her: “Go back into the city is fine. But I may not want to write the manuscript after I go back.”

Lan Ning: “…………………”

Writing a manuscript, where are all these excuses coming from!
