Finding Glowing Beauty in Books Chapter 22 part1

Lan Ning and Yan Ru Yu is back again today! I was so eager to read about their adventure in the mountain side and the villa where Yan Ru Yu and Lan Ning would be spending their time together…. So I could not stop reading and translating it… Hehehe…. 

I wonder if Yan Ru Yu is trying to impress Lan Ning for bringing her to the mountain villa or he just really want to get away….. 🙂

I am also a book lover…… There are times where I wished I could escape away from the hustle bustle of the city life, heading into the mountain side, staying in a cosy cottage with lots and lots of books to read…. How nice it would be to be sitting in a lovely cosy little space as per the image in this post… do nothing the whole day but reading away…. sigh!

Anyway, enjoy the read today!

Chapter 22.1: 

Lan Ning carried her bag and followed Yan Ru Yu to the front of the villa.

Looking at the villa, it is beyond what Lan Ning would imagine. The luxury of this villa is rare and difficult to see in real life, only available usually on the television. “Is this your villa?”

Although she knew that the level of big writer, the royalty income must have been considerably high, but did not expect that it is to the extend where could buy a luxury villa within the mountain.

“My uncle gave it to me.” The tone of Yan Ru Yu is as if his uncle gave him toy or fast food…. and not a villa / mansion.

Lan Ning’s brow jumped: “Your uncle? Your uncle is really generous ah.”

Yan Ru Yu nodded: “He is selling villa. There are several villas around here that were sold to others.”

Lan Ning was puzzled and asked: “Isn’t your family are scholars?”

“Yes, so he was driven out of the house.”

Lan Ning: ……………………..

Are you for real?

She would like to ask a few more question but thinking that this is the private matter of someone else’s family, hence she being an outsider is not in the right position to question. So she chooses to close her mouth.

And so Yan Ru Yu open the door to the villa. Lan Ning followed him into the villa and was stunned on the spot with the brightness.

On the first floor, is a very large living room, decorated with a top of the class European wind big chandelier. The whole place is surrounded by a full floor to ceiling window with the warm sun shining through the clean glass. The indoor shining exceptionally bright. The villa interior decoration uses a lot of European-style features but the most striking is the gallery row of shelves.

These shelves are placed in a well-designed location, each one filled with books. As if it is a small library.

“Oh my goodness! There are a lot of books here.” Lan Ning readily loosened her luggage bag and walked inside. The floor windows are also placed with several bookshelves with the light golden sun that fell on top of each book, shining it. There is also a large gray sofa before the window, seems to be specially prepared for reading.

Behind the bookcase, the hang a calligraphy in a flowing water brush style : 《观书》which means reading the books.

The line of words written in a dragon dance phoenix like writing, vigorous. Lan Ning turned to Yan Ru Yu and curiously asked: “This is written by you?”

“It is written by my uncle.” Yan Ru Yu replied while coming over to her side. He also looked up at the line of flowing water brush words.

“Your uncle’s calligraphy are really good. Indeed worth the businessman who is out of the book.” Lan Ning could not help laughing. “Are the books here his?”

“Part of it are his. Part of it are mine. These are not all. There are more of them in the study on the second floor.

Lan Ning : ………………………

This is how much he love to read ah.

“Have you read all these books?” She asked.

Yan Ru Yu lifted his eyebrows. “Not all of them I have read. In the past, when I come here, I could live up to a month. Do not do anything but just read the book.”

“Wow! Oh.” Lan Ning really admired him. At least she had some interest in library with lots of books. So she had seen so many books in the past before too.

“But it is because the nature of your work is special. For the ordinary office workers, where there is time to read. Even if there is time, they are more willing to sleep.” Lan Ning saying these, could not help it but get a little emotional. “In this way, now people who buy books are getting lesser and lesser. If they want to read the book, they will directly search for it online digitally.”

“Books cannot be replaced.” Yan Ru Yu pulled out a book from the shelves. He flip the pages: “Those reading software are not realistic. In comparison to personally holding the book, the fingertip holding the pages feel are much more realistic.”

Lan Ning looked up at him. He stood by the window, the sun sketched out a layer of shallow outline. Looking closely, there are some warm and some difference.

“Why are you looking at me like that?” Yan Ru Yu turned and looked at Lan Ning.

Lan Ning turned to look away, pretending to have no intention to authentic: “I just feel so emotional. It is unusual that you would say such things.” Is it because the influence of nature that people have become literary and artistic?

Yan Ru Yu put the book back onto the shelves and no longer entangled with the question: “It is getting later. You go and prepare lunch.”
