Chapter 4

My studies have improved significantly as a result of Chu Shian's tutelage.

Chu Shian meant to assert that because there was a halo on his boyfriend's forehead, and said that if I refused, he would kiss me, say a word, then kiss, I didn't agree, then spoke a few words, "I... I obey you."

He continued to be not as human as before, but he was no longer a dog; he had evolved into a delinquent.

I aced the university entrance exam thanks to his one-on-one tutoring; at the very least, enrolling in a good school with Chu Shian wouldn't be a problem.

My parents were excited to host a dinner party, but at my urging, they switched to an indoor table to commemorate.

Of course, we also invited Chu Shian's family;my parents, in all honesty,thought that my achievements can be so impressive that it is impossible to overlook Chu Shian's merits.

But when Chu Shian didn't show up that day, which he hadn't informed me of, I took out my phone and discovered that I couldn't contact him at all.

Before eating, the two families discussed domestic issues, and my mother inquired: "Where is Shian? His achievements this year have surprised everyone; if you don't prepare a hearty meal at home for him, that's fine. However, An An threw a party, and you didn't even let him join?"

Mrs Chu tittered, "He has some work today, he has returned to his hometown and may revert back a few days later."

I wasn't sure if it was my hallucination, but I kept getting the sensation that Mrs Chu's smile was a little bit stiff, Uncle Chu was also a little quiet and reluctant, that his words were even more meaningful, even Mrs Chu peeked at me several times.

A possibility flashed through my mind for a split second, instantly my limbs went cold. As if you were suddenly missing a step, unable to find a foothold, and perplexed. Just sitting there mechanically answering questions during meals.

Mrs Chu and Uncle Chu, thankfully, finished their meal and left, but not forget handing me a red envelope. Maybe I was nervous, but I maintained feeling that Mrs Chu had a speech in mind.

Chu Shian has been unavailable for a week, and I have been unable to contact him.I wished to go to his house and look for him, but Misrs Chu's mixed eyes that day made me hesitant.

Chu Shian returned when I couldn't take it any longer and decided whether to " Sink Or Swim" and headed to his house. Except for his pale face, he looked the same.

He explained that there was an urgent matter that required him to return to his hometown, so he did not speak to me in such haste. Returning to be as busy as a bee, with no time to check his phone, he came to find me right away after done.

I was both self-pity and indignant, opening my mouth to scold him: "Chu Shian, damn you!"

Thoughts and fears of the previous few days all turned into punches on his shoulder while he was crying out in pain.

I was indifferent and unwavering,hm, he also learned to pretend to be pitiful - even though I used a lot of force, that little pain was not worth it for Chu Shian.

I was bracing myself for more punches when he drew me into a tight hug. He apologized, his voice low and hoarse, touching my head.

I heard a few words in his ribcage that softened my heart,after all,i sadly whispered: "Can you tell me where you go later, just good or bad, tell me..." The more I said, the more I felt heartbroken, and the more I'm itching to give him another punch.

Chu Shian didn't respond, instead tightly hugging me,tenderly and lovingly calling "An An" in my ear over and over.

Chu Shian coaxed me so weakly that I couldn't resist ,the anger in a blink like a deflated balloon. I must admit that in my whole life, I have lost here.

When I later told him about his parents' dubious unusual behavior that day, he just patted my head and said I was thinking too much.

I noticed his expression was no different from normal and plausible, in other cases, I may have merely scared myself.

After Chu Shian came back, he seemed to be busier,don't ask about the meeting, we just hardly have time to send messages, and the phone could only call once.

This situation was too far-fetched,when I called him, his voice was weary, and when I asked him what was wrong, he just said he was too tired and told me not to worry.

I was immensely restless and hung up the phone, feeling anxious.

It didn't take long for us to receive our admissions results, and we were quickly accepted into the same superb university in this city. Chu Shian had many better options at first, but he inexplicably persisted in going to the same school as me, there are loads of discussions in the end we opted this school.

I immediately called to inform him of the good news, but I was unable to reach Chu Shian.

i was taken back that he didn't even show up at school to receive the notification letter. When I arrived at the university, his notification letter had already been received by his adults.

The strangeness of these days appeared before my eyes, the anxiety in my heart became more and more intense, my mood became heavy, and my mind was like a jumble of tangles, dissolving the joy of admission.

That anxious feeling peaked when I returned home and saw Mrs Chu with a dull expression.

I greeted her gingerly, then moved my gaze to the right to see my mother sitting next to her with an usual expression,finally i quietly sighed.

"An An, I,I have something need you to lend a hand, please come to my house for a while," Mrs Chu explained, the complexity in her eyes fretting me.

I drew the corner of my mouth up and nodded, "With pleasure."

Mrs Chu, to my surprise, did not take me to their house, but instead to the hospital, where the smell of disinfectant water made my heart pound.

I could see Uncle Chu lying on the hospital bed through the glass window. As if anticipating something, my heart sank.

"An An, I watched you grow up; as a child, you were always afraid that you wouldn't be able to grow taller, but now..." Mrs Chu looked at me, who taller than her a head, she stretched out her hand as a sign, and tried to smile, tears streaming down her cheeks, "You are a good child... An An, you obey, let it go ?You guys split up is good for everyone..."

The heart seemed to stop beating, there was a hissing sound in my ears like a broken radio, and my mind was blank, unable to think. I couldn't hear what she was saying; all I could feel was my lips opening and closing, but I couldn't say anything.

"When the results of you guys' exams were announced, we already knew, that night my husband told him to kneel down to admit his mistake, he did so, even though he was obstinate, he said he was not wrong, then he was bitten, he had to lie down for a week before he could get out of bed..."

My hands and feet were cold, and my fingers twitched uncontrollably as I tried to remember the announcement of the university exam date now caused chaos in the mind. That night, we went to the park, then... kissed in the woods...

So Chu Shian only lost contact with me for a week after that, and when he reappeared, even one punch from me could cause him to groan...

I lowered my head, afraid to look at Mrs Chu's carroty eyes; a deep sense of guilt nearly made me to collapse. I lastly spoke after a long time: "Uncle Chu..."

"Then his father confiscated his phone and told him to understand that if he got it wrong, we would let him out. We'd already planned everything, letting him study abroad; who knows when he'd do any act of rebellion; a few days ago, when the admissions results were announced, we discovered that he was still attending the same university as you... At the time, his father was so enraged that he broke a broom on the spot, resulting in high blood pressure and a trip to the hospital..."

Mrs Chu suddenly grabbed my arm as if catching a blade of grass to save her life: "An An, I beg you, I really can't do anything... Your parents, I'm sure, can't accept it either.

while they are still in the dark, okay? This is not normal, you two must cut off quickly! An An, this is a disease! Please fix it, can you break up, let it go, let it go..."

The arm which Mrs Chu's grabbed appeared to have lost consciousness, the ears ringing, as if a knife was cutting the flesh and blood in the chest, pulling the blood vessels, which were also beginning to explode inch by inch.

I took a deep breath, my face turned white, like a child who had commited crimes, I nervously lowered my eyes, and my body stood there speechless.

"Mom," Chu Shian's deep voice rang out behind me as the two of us struggled.

I turned around to face him, my eyes red and helpless.

When compared to my memory, Chu Shian has wasted away a lot,his face is paler than the last time we met,. I was aware that his clothes concealed additional wounds that I couldn't see.

He pursed his lips, took a step forward to pull my arm away, and then grasped my hand solemnly.

Mrs Chu saw this and immediately began crying even harder, as if she was about to run out of breath. My breath was taken away by the sadness in her eyes.

I lowered my head in panic,not daring to take a gander,subconciously pull my hand away, but I was soon gripped even tighter - Chu Shian's strength was dexterous that seemed to crush my bones.

"You two agreed not to look for him." Chu Shian abruptly ended this sentence and dragged me away.

I was led like a log by him, my entire body befuddled, and my ears seemed to resound with the suppressed cry of Mrs Chu's collapse.

Chu Shian didn't let go of my hand until I was standing near the emergency exit. "Does it hurt?" he asked, touching the red squeeze on my wrist.

I kept my mouth shut and said nothing.

He turned to face me and said,word by word,

"Would you have accepted her request if I hadn't arrived?"

"Will you agree?" he repeated, his voice beginning to carry an unrecognizable tremor, his eyes even redder: "...Will you agree?"

He took my hand again, this time without waiting for me to respond, each word as if squeezed out from between his teeth: "Don't think of it, in this life, the two of us are tied together like this!"

His tone was explicitly fierce, but his voice was mind-boggling trembling, and his eyes were bloodshot, as if he were a threatened wild animal,just ready in case any unsafe factor could rob his bait.

He's concerned, thinking back and afraid, being strong in the face of weakness and warning me.

I looked at his terrified eyes, nose stinging, and my heart felt like it had been punched with a fist, aching pain.

"Is it painful?" I looked him in the eyes and responded differently.

Then, under Chu Shian's stunned gaze, I lightly touched his shoulder where I had punched him the previous time.

"Still hurt,hm?" I inquired.

For a long time, he laugh out loud , the ferocious aura that was just now completely hidden, like a hot-headed lion but extremely easy to tame.

He gently rubbed the red spot on the back of my wrist,aproached me, and kissed me on the lips, saying,"Darling,i was pretty scared..."

His lips were cold and soft as he kissed my cheek, clearly conveying his fear to me.

Looking at his bloodless face, my eye sockets turned red, and I couldn't help but be angry and hurt at the same time, scolding him: "Chu Shian, you are an idiot, giving in a little would not get you beaten up to this misery. Damn, you didn't even say anything to me, try not to tell me next time..."

Chu Shian embraced me and said, "I can't give in to this," without waiting for me to finish.

I opened my mouth, my heart was full of hundreds of emotions, and in the end, I laughed out loud, my eyes downcast with steam, and yelled at him, "Stupid!"

He quietly draped his arm across my back,gave a fleeting smile, and said, "Yeah, I'm stupid."

Cachinnated, I wiped my tears, thought of something, and paused for a moment. After softly asking him the preplanned speech, "What are you going to do, your parents already know," I thought to arrange the words.

"Prolong first, they can't accept it in a short time, I'll try to talk to them first and handle it..." his chin brushed the top of my head.

"However, An An... If something happens, you should indeed tell me, don't be afraid, take me for granted, okay?" he said, significantly reducing his voice. "They will no longer come looking for you... I'll be brave as long as you're still here."

I buried my head in his neck,hum. Then I twisted his fingers and swayed slightly, trying to suppress our mutual fear and restlessness.

I could tell Chu Shian was scared by what was happening right now. Even at the time, I felt like I had thorns on my back as soon as I saw Mrs Chu's eyes. Even though I had predicted it, I had a challenging time dealing with it when it showed up.

I couldn't imagine what would happen if my parents knew what I should do; just thinking about it made me feel sick.
