"Hahahahaha…"
Suddenly, Grimm could no longer hold himself in the ironic scene. He burst into a peal of wild laughter without any restraint!
These words were meant to be spoken by him in the future.
How dare the World Guardian spoke them to him first!
Gradually, Grimm reached out his palm that was covered in scales and bone spikes. He pointed toward the World Guardian and laughed in an inconceivable manner.
The World Guardian became relaxed as he saw Grimm slip into despair, seemingly losing his will to battle.
Half a minute later.
Grimm stopped his unrestrained laughter. He stood on top of the Thousand-eyed Carcinus's carapace. The wind was blowing against him.
The huge battlefield became silent. The world gate behind Grimm was shimmering. A faint ripple was emitting from the Burrow World.
"Put down your staff and submit to the great Acraepoid's will, and you shall experience the beauty that is unperturbed by life and death!" the World Guardian screeched.
His words were upright, so justifiable.
Grimm slowly held up his Sabbatical Goat Staff. With a tranquil but ruthless expression underneath his Mask of Truth, he said," Accept the order of fate? Give up this foolish resistance? I'm just a small part of the cruelty of the boundless worlds?"
Grimm's rhetorical questions turned into sinister laughter.
"Heehee, heeheeheehee…"
Slowly, the Acraepoid World Guardian sensed something was off. He sent out a soul pulse as a signal. The Acraepoids who were surrounding the world gate took a few steps back.
Grimm was standing pridefully, appearing exceptionally calm. Yet, there was a hint of anxiety in his eyes as he looked toward the two hundred-meter tall columns of black fire.
Had the mission failed?
All his efforts, yet he couldn't catch the attention of the two world lords?
His heart was utterly bitter. Grimm was like an old man in his dying moments, enjoying his last moments in the sunset. Behind him, the Savage Flame Giant stood up gradually. It appeared to have felt the bitterness as well as his resolve in completing the mission. It let out a thunderous roar!
Roar…
The fire was burning vigorously in a color of black and gold, as though the giant was showing off all its glory. At its chest and its back, its crying and smiling faces were both howling at an ear-shattering volume.
"Hmm? This elemental creature…"
For a brief moment, the World Guardian was stunned, as if he had sensed something. He shouted out in anger, "Get away!"
Fuh…
The millions of Acraepoids that were crowding in front of the world gate had been anticipating this. They quickly dispersed.
There was an explosion of a pure-black, bone-chillingly cold, violent, and ruthless energy column. At the next moment, all those who were unaffected by the explosion from the energy column swarmed toward Grimm and the dying soul slaves that were in front of the world gate.
They appeared like a huge gaping mouth that was about to swallow everything in front of the world gate.
Grimm was standing on top of the Thousand-eyed Carcinus. He raised his head and saw the sky which was darkened by the vast amounts of Acraepoids, a scene straight out of the apocalypse.
Beneath the Mask of Truth, he was clenching his teeth. Grimm was still holding on, unwavering, and not taking another step back.
At this moment, he really appeared to be a helpless protector of the world who didn't want to see his own world enslaved by the foreign creatures. A "World Lord" determined to sacrifice himself.
"Master Grimm…"
The Thousand-eyed Carcinus could feel that death was near. It reached out its remaining pincer to protect Grimm. A sense of sadness flowed from its hundred-over eyes, the soul slave's unwillingness to part ways with the beautiful world that it had lived under the sorcerer's will.
Grimm didn't say a word. He merely stood in front of the gate, determined not to take a step back.
Grimm did not give the order to retreat. The soul slaves dare not defy the sorcerer's will.
Some of the soul slaves in front of the Thousand-eyed Carcinus let out their final howl and charged toward the incoming swarm of Acraepoid heedlessly.
Was it foolishness?
Was it despair?
"Roar! Foolish low-level creatures! Do you have a deathwish? Go away!"
Suddenly, a vexed voice exploded across the battlefield. The innumerable Acraepoids was abruptly led away by the 'divinity' and dispersed.
A gust of black flame that was a hundred meters in height seemed to have brought in the force of the world with him as he set off shockwaves as he charged toward Grimm.
The Acraepoids who did not heed the 'divinity' in time were knocked over by the great infernal god Darkborne to experience the beauty that was unperturbed by life and death.
There was an additional sense of bone-chilling coldness, violence, and ruthlessness in the Darkborne's black flame that was flickering.
It was the exact aura given out by Grimm when he ignited his second Black Isotta Essence!
So, Grimm's attack just now wasn't targeted at any of the Acraepoids but the two World Lords who were standing from a distance.
As they were standing within the capital city of the Darkborne Kingdom, it fell into Infernal God Darkborne's jurisdiction to hold off Grimm's Black Isotta Essence-infused attack.
Though he was not seriously hurt, the Infernal God Darkborne felt that he had been humiliated by his demeanor and pride. He had been looked down upon, taunted and trampled by a puny bug!
This is the wrath of God!
The Acraepoids that surrounded the world gate were stunned. The wrath of god would be cataclysmic!
As the Acraepoids dispersed, the sky appeared empty and wide. A giant, black flaming meteorite came crashing down, tearing up the space around it with terrifying shockwaves. The space surrounding it was being torn up pieces by pieces as the ripple spread throughout the sky.
Bam, bam, bam, bam, bam…
Amongst the soul slaves that heedlessly charged against the Acraepoids, some were brushed by the black fireball and were knocked back a few thousand meters as they fell toward the grounds of the Infernal Spirit World.
But those that took a direct hit from the black fireball was turned into a mist of blood and evaporated from the sky at the same time, leaving no trace.
They were all Level-3 soul slaves!
Although the black fireball had not reached Grimm, the intended target of Darkborne, he could already feel a huge pressure that was holding down his body. The bone armor and the scales on his body were crackling.
The huge force had also suppressed his body and pressed down on his skeleton. He couldn't breathe.
Trapped in an utter shock, Grimm could only remark, "too fast," before being consumed by the black flame.
"Argh…"
Grimm was wailing. No matter how hard he struggled, he could not escape from the black flame. Even his spacetime access ability that was at the same level as Little Myna's primal coordinate access became distorted.
He should've known, his opponent was a powerful entity that could play around with souls!
A final sense of bitterness flowed out of Grimm's eyes.
"Is...is this the difficulty of a Rank-1 honor badge mission, a mission that could change the tide of the expeditionary war in the foreign world?"
The difficulty of a Rank-1 honor badge mission lies in changing the whole tide of a foreign world expedition. For most of the demon-hunting sorcerer, even if they had reached the peak of level-three, it was still an almost impossible mission.
The bone spikes of his ivory armor, as well as his dark corium, began melting. Streaks of black fires were trying to penetrate into Grimm's body.
In a field of despair, with his final battle will, Grimm turned toward the world gate behind him and called out, "Thousand-eyed Carcinus, go back…"
"Master Grimm…"
The Thousand-eyed Carcinus's eyes lit up with its own sense of wisdom and serendipity. It let out a low moan and quickly retreated into the world gate.
