Chapter 414 The lmmortal Shadows

The vines sharply speared through Isaac's legs and pulled him out of the tree. Soon after, his back was thrown up against some hard ground and dragged inside a cloud of black smoke.

"N-No!" Isaac tried to rip the vines, but only his hands got riddled with wounds as a result of this.

Soon, he was engulfed in the black smoke, and an endless coldness began to seep through his bones. He started feeling a strange kind of terror in the depths of his heart.

The whole thing felt as if he had been dragged into a cave of an ancient beast where he was the prey for the day. The terror came from wanting to live and not get eaten by some terrifying beast.

When a number of figures appeared at the forefront of the black smoke, the terror became more intense. They were clad in the black smoke armory, holding dark-bladed swords.

They were the shadowy figures whom Isaac had assumed to be responsible for the creation of the mysterious black smoke.

Their blades shrieked for blood as they marched forward, their faces revealed dark teeth, and their teeth showed the dark stains of blood. In an almost humorous manner, they appeared to be grinning at one another. The corners of their mouths were arched upwards.

"Break! Break! Break! "Isaac shook his fist vigorously against the vines, but they proved to be indestructible. Droplets of his blood were coating the ground, staining it blue.

Suddenly, he was greeted by the long-awaited message in the corner of his eye. Within his eyes, the tiniest shred of hope began to glisten.

Finally, the shadowy figures were arms-length away and didn't wait any longer— they swung their swords.

[Marksman of Space Used!]

Nightfall of itchy blades delivered a punch straight to the vine. Their eyes turned blood-red, and they looked around with anger in their eyes. After that, they saw an eerie figure floating in the sky, whose body was about to be made up of star patterns.

'Why am I in the sky?!' Isaac searched for a means to calm himself down as he saw that he was going to have a long fall ahead of him, 'Did the black smoke confuse the teleportation somehow?!'

A long, curved ashen-gray vein pierced through the air and wrapped around the body of Isaac.

The pain in Isaac's eyes began to sink into his kidneys as he was once again dragged back into the black smoke. He was struck by the ground, and his health bar began flashing red after he suddenly lost a large percentage of his health.

The shadowy figures, this time, raced toward him, and only a few steps later, they were within arms' reach of him.

Isaac sunk his teeth into the screaming veins and made a last-ditch effort to save his life. Then, a puff of cold air left his lungs and froze the veins altogether!

He then gripped the reins tighter and broke them to the point that nothing was left. Quickly he rose to his feet and jumped away from the shadowy figures.

It took only a fraction of a second for sword strikes to destroy his previous position.

In just moments, the shadowy figures inflicted a swarm of blows at Isaac from different angles, so that it was extremely difficult for Isaac to respond to each one quickly enough.

Isaac, however, tried weaving through the sword attacks to evade them, but to no avail. After one lucky slash, black smoke seeped into his body through a scratch on his thigh.

He couldn't see clearly, and his mind was foggy. His stone gray eyes gradually started to turn dark, and his veins turned black with the intention of making him appear exactly like other shadowy figures.

The black smoke was forcefully removed from his body. Suddenly, a glint of golden light fought against the shimmering darkness and regained control of the body after a few seconds.

As Isaac's eyes turned back to gray, he could now think clearly again, the cloud of confusion being lifted from his mind.

He pulled his gun out of the inventory and fired a few rounds at the nearby enemies.

Gritting his teeth, Isaac decided to use Icy Shots again, hoping that this time they would help. The shadowy figures just shrugged off each of the shots as if they didn't see them.

Eventually, they reached the range of their attack, and without further ado, they hammered their swords down viciously.

As Isaac spun the gun around, he began fighting off the swords. The abilities Isaac possessed in terms of techniques were still mediocre. In spite of the fact that he had been practicing with bo-staff for quite some time, there was still much that there was to learn.

Isaac's grip on the gun was slipped by a sword strike, and the gun fell to the ground shortly after being engulfed in a cloud of black smoke.

The eyes of Isaac shook, and he rushed to tilt his head to the left, just in time for his body to escape the sword's attack. On the other hand, his cheek was scratched badly by the tip of the sword.

A black fog tried to corrupt Isaac's mind again, but the golden glow pushed it away from his body immediately.

The hand of Isaac moved, and a solid fist came crashing down on the shadowy figure's jaw. But again, it was like the shadowy figure didn't even feel it.

In Isaac's body, he felt a sharp and constant pain of coldness permeating throughout the entire body. Upon turning his head to look at his fist, he found that it was encased in a thin layer of ice, but it was a lot colder than Icy Shot.

'What is this…' Then, Isaac's thoughts were cut off as a shadowy figure appeared behind him and drilled the sword straight through his heart!

"UGH!" A gush of blue blood flew out of Isaac's mouth. His Health Bar went all the way to zero, and then everything started turning dark.

However, at that moment, his White Death activated, and the strands of his white hair began floating.

"Hmm?" The shadowy figures let out their first words, and it was confused hmm. They had no idea what was happening in the white-haired man's body, but it was something spectacular.

As Isaac kicked behind him, he felt his feet touch something and yet nothing at the same time. As the kick was delivered, it went straight through the shadowy figure, who showed no signs of caring.

The shadowy figure pulled out the sword from his body and again swung, this time trying to decapitate Isaac.

Seeing nothing but peril ahead for Isaac, his eyes trembled as his heart sank. Although his senses were running in a state of hyperfocus, he did not seem to be able to find a way to escape.

SWOOSH!

It was at that precise moment, however, that the shadowy figure, along with two other figures of the same silhouette, was cut in half. After their bodies turned to ash, their ashes permeated into the ground.

"W-What?" Isaac looked around him, trying to understand what the hell was happening.

After that, his face turned pale, and ten shadowy figures appeared from the ground. They, however, completely ignored Isaac and aimed their weapons toward the entrance of the black smoke.

From there, another sword swing rippled through the air and eventually split the shadowy figures in half. At the end of the battle, they were utterly annihilated, extinguished from existence, and faded into the distance.
