Third Quest Complete

At the Adventurer's Guild.

 

Vivian was walking on the main hall and heading towards the counter where Adventure would submit the Quest Items.

 

Before coming here, she stopped by The Silver Wing Inn to get her things and check out. Because of that, she was currently carrying all of her belongings with her right now so her satchel looked quite full.

 

As for the 15 tails of the Bukaroo, they were inside a small sack that she bought at the Market District before heading back to the inn.

 

The counter was empty so she was able to immediately stand in front of the counter.

 

"Hello, how may I help you?" one of the receptionists asked.

 

"I've completed my quest and I'm here to submit the quest items."

 

The 2 receptionists immediately began processing the quest and gave her her 20-copper coins reward.

 

"Can I get back the sack? I'm going to take another quest and was planning to use it."

 

"Sure."

 

The receptionist gave her the small sack.

 

Yesterday, when she completed the first quest, she forgot to take back the white cloth she used to wrap with the Bukaroo Tails. Meanwhile, for the second quest, the small sack was too dirty or slimy thanks to the green fluids of the hearts of the Treebark so she didn't bother asking it back. This time around, given that the Bukaroo Tails got dried off last night, although they had some slimy green fluids on them after having mixed with the hearts of the Treebark while collecting yesterday, they weren't that slimy anymore so the sack was still relatively clean. And plus, each sack costs 3 copper coins and she was planning to take another quest.

 

She went to another counter -- the one where she can ask about quests.

 

And just like the previous counter, it too was available so she was able to stand right away in front of the counter.

 

"Hi, I'm to take another quest."

 

"Oh hello! Done already? Great, I was looking for you."

 

"You were looking for me?"

 

"I've got great news for you. Remember about the landlady friend of mine that I told you about who only accepts female tenants?"

 

"Yes...?"

 

"She told me there's a vacancy and will let you rent!" the receptionist said excitedly.

 

Vivian's brows knitted in confusion.

 

This was her first time seeing someone getting so excited about seeing someone else getting accepted for renting a place.

 

Is the housing in this city that bad…?

 

Or perhaps this is how females talk with each other…?

 

Anyhow, I was never expecting to rent there…

 

I think it was 1 gold coin per month for a shared room and 3 gold coins for a single room…?

 

And plus, what about the deposit fee…?

 

I don't have that kind of money…

 

Right now I only have 5 silver and 35 copper coins…

 

She looked at the receptionist.

 

Based on her estimation, she was around the same age as Vivian. She was also white and she had orange hair which was tied into a ponytail.

 

"Thank you, but I'm very sorry. To be honest, I can't afford the rent, even the shared one. It's 1 gold coin per month, right?"

 

"It's okay. I told her about you."

 

"Huh?"

 

"Look, that friend of mine runs a hostess bar and she's in need of beautiful waitresses."

 

"What? Hostess bar…?"

 

"You're not bad looking, you just need a little makeup and to make your smile a little softer. You also have a nice chest. As for your body, you can gain a little bit of weight, but you'll be fine for now. And for your pay, you can earn 2 silver coins a night and plus tips."

 

Vivian's eyes turned to slits.

 

"Hold, I don't know if I'm hearing you correctly or not. But are you telling me that I look like someone who sells her body?" she asked coldly.

 

Seeing Vivian's sudden change of demeanor, the receptionist took one step backward and held her hands up.

 

"H-Hold on! W-wait! You're misunderstanding something!"

 

Everyone in the main hall turned to Vivian and the receptionist.

 

However, Vivian didn't care.

 

Although she would admit that she was a money-driven person even back in her original world, she never once went so low as to sell her dignity like that. As a matter of fact, as an aspiring fitness influencer, she received some "invitations" from gay men but turned them down.

 

"Oh, why don't you explain to me which part I misunderstood?" Vivian continued asking in a cold voice.

 

"T-The place you'll be working at is a hostess bar, not a sex bar! T-Those are 2 different things!"

 

Vivian calmed down a bit.

 

Huh…?

 

A hostess bar is not a sex bar…?

 

Back in her original world, Vivian had no interest or whatsoever in going to hostess and sex bars so she wasn’t familiar with the distinctions. Although she was fully aware that she wasn’t Mr. Perfect by any stretch, in her head, she wasn’t that ugly and pathetic to go to such places. Moreover, if she were to go to such places and deal with the people there, then there wouldn't be any point in her trying to improve her life. She might as well just stay at her parents’ house and play videogames or surf through the internet all day.

 

A few people approached Vivian and the receptionist -- one female receptionist and 2 Adventurers, both male and female. And given that Vivian and the receptionist were both women, they didn't go physical right away.

 

"Is there something going on here?" the other receptionist asked.

 

As for the 2 Adventurers, they didn't say anything but their eyes were locked on Vivian.

 

Vivian turned to the Adventurers.

 

It was a man and a woman who were both in their early 20s and had a Silver I rank pendant around their neck.

 

Seeing the Adventurers, the dark emotions she felt earlier returned.

 

"What? You got a problem, you little shits?"

 

With Vivian's anger and murderous intent directed at them, the 2 felt a familiar sensation.

 

Danger.

 

They were confused at first because Vivian was only Copper I and had poor equipment, something like any beginner Copper I would wear. However, the familiar sensation that they've felt so many times when facing a formidable opponent was no doubt there.

 

But despite that, they didn't back down. After all, they were Silver Ranks and were in front of many people. They had a reputation to maintain. However, without realizing it, they've already subconsciously grabbed onto their weapons.

 

"Wait, no! There's no problem at all. It was I who made a mistake. I didn't properly explain things to her, causing a misunderstanding. So please leave us," the receptionist said and began to keep bowing.

 

Everyone turned at her, including Vivian.

 

Although Vivian's anger and murderous intent subsided quite a bit, she was still wary of the 2 Adventurers.

 

If they made any sudden movements, she was either going to blow their heads off with her skills or cripple them.

 

The other receptionist looked at Vivian and her bowing coworker.

 

"If that's what you say," she said and then went back to her station.

 

As for the 2 Adventurers, seeing the other receptionist leave, they looked at Vivian one last time before stepping away. 

 

"So, tell me what do you mean I was misunderstanding things," said Vivian.

 

The receptionist, who still kept bowing, stopped and then turned to Vivian who no longer had a murderous intent but her face was still looking at her with a suspicious gaze.

 

She cleared her throat as she straightened her back. 

 

"I told my landlady friend about you and she's interested in letting you rent in her place as long as you agree to work at her hostess bar called Paradise Kiss. But first, she wants to meet you."

 

Vivian didn't say anything but the expression on her face told her to continue.

 

"Paradise Kiss is a hostess bar, not a sex bar. In fact, anyone who goes there and tries to harass any of the staff will immediately be dealt with by the bouncers. And the pay is 2 silver coins per shift and there will also be tips."

 

She stopped and waited for Vivian's reaction.
