Virat simply replied, "Yes I'm!"
Ronnie spoke again, "Guess what baby, he was a student of your University . Seems like it's such a small world…"
Jayne grasped! "Oh really!" She was so overwhelmed that she didn't know how to react .
"Oh my goodness! Did we know each other Mr Virat Mishra?" Jayne excitedly asked him, her eyes sparkling like a kid .
That question was like a fatal blow to Virat . He began to doubt himself, 'Is she really my Maya? Is she really the girl who once loved him so much? No way! She's just a physical memory of my Maya and nothing else . '
With great difficulty he composed his emotions and replied to her, "No Mrs Jayne Roy . We don't know each other personally… But then, you were the face of our college… you were a wonderful dancer and singer . So, you were well-known to the entire college…"
Jayne slightly laughed and looked at her husband, "Baby, we guessed it right . I was actually a dancer back then . . "
Ronnie lovingly patted his wife's head and nodded .
"You were also-" Virat began speaking but had to immediately stop when Jayne spoke up .
"Its enough information Mr Virat Mishra . Thank you so much… But I'm not interested to know about my past anymore . I thought I was an abandoned kid with a horrible past . But then, my parents came and proved me otherwise . Other than that, I don't really want to know how good or bad my earlier life was…" It was like as if Jayne took a cue from her husband's earlier conversation with Virat and answered for him .
Even Ronnie was stunned by Jayne's answers . But he patiently stood there calm and composed .
"But then don't you regret for not wanting to know about your past?" Virat slightly probed .
"Haha, do you think I dont have the means to know what I want to know Mr Virat Mishra?" Jayne let out a sarcastic laughter .
She continued, "But then, I simply choose not to… I don't want to trade in anything I've in the present for my past . " Jayne looked at her husband while she said that .
Virat frowned . The love of his life was talking about another man she loves right in front of him . Could there be anything more heartbreaking than this?
Jayne looked at Virat and said, "I know what you are thinking . . "
Virat slightly froze . 'Does she by any chance remember me? Or my love for her?'
Jayne slightly laughed, "That I'm sounding so selfish . Like I'm a gold digger girl behind Ron for his money and authority . But then, let me tell you . . when we first met and he saved me or during our days in the forest, I'd no idea that Ronnie was such a wealthy or a powerful man . "
"I would still love him the same even if he was merely a tribesman of that forest . In fact, to be very honest, those days were the best . I had him beside me round the clock . Unlike now, when we each have things to do . . "
She then paused took Ronnie's hands and intertwined with hers and continued, "So, even if I were some princess, I do not want that life . With my husband by my side, I don't care to know about anything else . " Jayne said with conviction .
Viral wondered, 'How on earth are they in sync? I've been with her from so long… but never once did we think alike . . but now, why is she justifying her husband? She wasn't even present there in the first place!' Virat felt like he was being slapped every single time Maya spoke . Ronnie's words had comparatively lesser impact than his Maya's .
By then the phone at the reception desk rang
Tring! Tring! Tring!
Ronnie picked up the phone .
"Hello!"
"Ron! What's taking you both so long? Why haven't you left yet?" Mrs Caroline Roy's worried voice sounded from the other end .
"Mom, we bumped into a friend… we'll be coming back soon…" Ronnie answered .
"Okay then come back soon . . we'll be waiting . . " Caroline Roy said and hung up .
Ronnie then looked at Virat, "Mr Virat Mishra,it's our pleasure to invite you to dinner . Please be our guest . We didn't even get an opportunity to thank you properly that day . "
Even Jayne added, "Yes Mr Virat Mishra . . you saved me the other day . I don't even know how to thank you to repay your kindness…"
Virat looked at his Maya, "Don't worry… I have a way out . . . you can express your gratitude by marrying me…"
Ronnie and Jayne froze!
