Chapter 33 I Don't Need You Anymore

Inside the Kuanglan Palace

Something seemed to be happening behind the closed doors of the Crown Prince's bedroom. Yun Canglan could hear noises, creaking furniture and groaning of some sort.

She slipped into the bedroom quietly, and saw two figures entangled on the bed through the curtain.

"Liuyun...ah...um..."

A woman's scream and man's growl summed it all up.

Yun Canglan stood rooted to the ground, her face darkened with fury, as though the world would be destroyed.

She heard the man say something to the woman.

"Yun Canglan? I'm using her... I want her father's military leadership..."

"OMG! She was so bad in bed!"

"Her face makes me sick!"

...

Was that how he truly felt? He was only using her? He was after her father's military leadership. She couldn't satisfy him in bed, and her face made him sick?

She felt stupid and foolish. She felt numb. She had believed him, "You are my everything." Oh, what a fool she was to believe his pretty words. If she was his everything, then who was the naked woman in his bed?

Her happiness had lasted one day. She gave herself to him yesterday, and he was with another woman today. How stupid she was! She thought if she married him, he would stop pursuing the General's house. It turned out that he didn't care about her body or her feelings at all. She felt crushed under the weight of the knowledge he had used her, mocking her shortcomings to another.

It hit her, the reason he treated her nicely for all those years was her father's military leadership. He must've had a good laugh at her expense in his mind.

She felt dirty.

She vomited as the scenes from the night before came to mind.

"Who's there?"

Huo Liuyun shouted as he got out of bed. Wu Yunling, his partner, was reluctant to let him leave.

Yun Canglan wiped her mouth calming down. Even humiliated and beaten, she wouldn't let this man see how he hurt her.

Huo Liuyun saw Yun Canglan's pale face.

"Canglan."

Huo Liuyun looked fearful and called her name panicking. His gaze followed hers, looking at a very naked Wu Yunling in his bed.

"Canglan, I..." He tried to explain reaching for her.

Yun Canglan dodged his touch. Huo Liuyun saw her cold look and felt his heart sink.

"Liuyun, you said I was your precious forever." There was no emotion in the cold voice coming from Yun Canglan.

He had told her that last night as he held her.

Huo Liuyun looked at Yun Canglan, his shoulders slumped. He didn't know how to explain to her, "Canglan..."

He felt awkward, unable to think, but he wanted to comfort her.

Yun Canglan pointed at Wu Yunling, "What's that?"

"Liuyun, you swore you wouldn't hurt me in this lifetime. What is this that you are doing now?"

Her accusations hit his heart hard like a big hammer. He was silent, feeling his chest tightening.

"Liuyun, you are wedding me only for my father's military leadership?" The hurt and shock shone in her eyes. "You are using me to destroy the General's House and seize the world? Liuyun, do I mean nothing to you? Your gentle, honeyed words are all fake? My face... I make you sick?"

Huo Liuyun's eyes widened, "You have known everything?"

Yun Canglan nodded, "Yes, I heard it all, but I'd rather I knew nothing!"

"You pretended to be innocent all this time?" It was Huo Liuyun's turn to be shocked. Her words worried him. He hadn't expect she would know everything.

Yun Canglan smiling knowingly, "Yes, I pretended to be innocent to protect the General's House. My affections for you though, those were real!"

Yun Canglan saw a murderous look in his eyes and felt a heartache.

"Liuyun, my father never had designs on the throne. Couldn't you just leave the General's House alone?" Yun Yajun had never coveted the throne, and Yun Canglan wanted the world for Huo Liuyun. Unfortunately, he disappointed her.

Huo Liuyun hid his gentle look, exposing a darker side, "General Yun has power, and could be a threat one day."

"Had you ever thought of me?"

Yun Canglan couldn't help but ask.

Huo Liuyun looked at Yun Canglan. She had a sad and desperate look, and he couldn't bear it, "Canglan, I love you." He had planned for his future with her, even well after the General's House was destroyed, because Yun Canglan was the love of his life.

Yun Canglan was calm and her voice held no hint of emotion, "Are you going to destroy the General's House and lock me in the palace forever?"

"Canglan..."

Yun Canglan pulled the jade from her neck. The one Huo Liuyun had given her for her birthday 8 years ago.

She hadn't removed it even one single time, until now.

Huo Liuyun didn't care about her, so she would rather abandon him. He had betrayed her physically and mentally, and she didn't need the likes of him anymore.

She was obsessively orderly in all things; she wanted to tie up loose ends and to finish with this foul man.

"My Crown Prince, since you want the world, I will help you to seize it. You desire this woman, then I give my position here to her."

Yun Canglan silently resolved, 'Since you want the world, I will grind it up. You fancy this woman; then I will crush her. From now on, you will be nothing more than a slave to me!'

She threw the jade to the floor, and it shattered in pieces.

"I don't need you anymore." Yun Canglan's eyes narrow and unreadable, and her voice sent chills through him.

Huo Liuyun felt a panic rising in him, and he tried to stop her. As she disappeared down the hall, he finally realized he couldn't bear her leaving.
