After leaving the house, Water Fairy returned to the Drizzle Court residence.
This place used to be a university, but it had since moved to another location. Mr. Shen had acquired the land, and Water Fairy had built it into a gaming city.
This was considered to be the place where famous guilds in the gaming circle gather. Drizzle Court, Peerless City, Blue Universe, Concealed Heavens, Misty Story and Double Dimension were some of the famous major guilds here, alongside the dozens of elite groups and small clubs.
The facilities here were excellent – there were cinemas, playgrounds, amusement parks, water parks and so on.
Most players went home during the New Year, but there were still some that were too lazy. The arrival of Water Fairy caused a bit of commotion.
It was normal for the boss to go home for the New Year; this was common knowledge. There must have been something wrong if she had returned in the middle of the night.
However, Water Fairy didn't pay attention to what the other players thought. After returning to her home, she went straight into the arena. She didn't even hide her identity; she just fought whoever to vent her anger.
After she had calmed down, she realized that it was past midnight, which meant that it was the New Year.
She just stayed in the game without doing anything, and received a few Happy New Year messages. When she opened her friend list, she saw that Lu Li was online.
"What are you doing?" Water Fairy asked.
"Training my Trade Skills – Goblin Jumper Cables."
Lu Li was obviously busy and Water Fairy could hear the sound of machinery in the background.
"It's the New Year. Why aren't you spending time with Xin Xin?" Water Fairy felt a sense of peace when listening to the machines. She had finally calmed down, and wondered why her temper had flared up previously.
"She is already asleep, I prefer for her not to stay up," Lu Li said, then paused before continuing, "Are you in a bad mood?"
"You managed to get that just from my voice? And here I was thinking you were a blockhead when it came to these things." Water Fairy was surprised. She hadn't deliberately concealed her feelings, but she didn't think Lu Li would notice it.
She had known Lu Li for so long, and had never seen anyone who was more insensitive than him.
Other men who spoke to her were always quite receptive. If she ever became uncomfortable, they would immediately try to flatter her. They didn't always have some motive and some of them were already famous, but none of them could bear to see her disappointment.
After all, good looking people had that advantage.
It was only Lu Li who allowed Water Fairy to feel like an ordinary girl. Because of this, she was very comfortable with him.
"Why are you upset?" he asked.
"I got into an argument with my dad."
She had kept all this to herself for twenty years, but she suddenly had the desire to share. She told him everything that had happened at the New Year's Eve dinner.
Lu Li listened quietly and occasionally responded.
Then, he began to understand Water Fairy's family background, her upbringing, and her recent conflicts and experiences.
In fact, Lu Li couldn't help but feel for Water Fairy's dilemma. He didn't have any parents, and would give anything for them, even if his life would be worse. However, Water Fairy seemed like she had also grown up with her share of suffering.
"He is your father after all. I'm sure he would be sad if you left the house on a day like New Year's Eve," Lu Li's said. His position was a little biased towards Mr. Shen.
"But he betrayed his promise to my mother, and treats me like a joke," Water Fairy said angrily. Lu Li's accusation grieved her, because she thought that he wouldn't condemn her father too.
"He did something wrong, but it is not the worst. Your stepmother might not have a son, and even if she does, he might not be a good prospect. Even if he was a good prospect, you still wouldn't be given up. Moreover, weren't you planning to build a career within the gaming industry anyway?"
Lu Li was not good at comforting people, but he was good at directly addressing the heart of the issue.
"But… I'm still unwilling," Water Fairy said while muffling her voice.
"The game industry is growing rapidly once again. If you can get a foothold in it, it might be even better than taking a place in an industry in real life," Lu Li reiterated.
Only he knew what Dawn would truly being to the gaming industry.
For example, Ruling Sword was valued at 30 million. If they didn't fall downhill, they would become valued at greater than 100 million within half a year. Not long after that, they would soon reach a billion dollars. This was how quickly the companies were developing.
Drizzle Court was already a behemoth in the gaming circle, and Lu Li couldn't imagine an industry that was more promising than this.
