Being betrayed would make one sad, or bitter. Angry.
However, the emotion that took hold of Tokimori the most was fear.
Yato was like magma from an erupting volcano, even being near him was
scary. On top of that, Masanori’s demon servant Akatsuki’s arms being
grasped, being kicked around like it was nothing, his terrified
expression, were burned into his eyes. Yato had protected Tokimori
from Akatsuki’s attack. He kicked Akatsuki because he was angry
he tried to harm Tokimori, so if the head of household hadn’t
sent Akatsuki after him, Yato probably wouldn’t have attacked him. He
knew that, but he was unable to call that immense strength anything
other than terrifying. He was thankful he had stood between him and
Akatsuki, and saved him, but when he thought about how Yato was the
reason he was attacked in the first place, he lost his will to thank
him.
Before they got into the car to go home from the main household, Tokimori asked Yato in a trembling voice if he could go back to being a small demon since large demons scared him, but Yato didn’t listen to him. With no choice, cramped in the back seat next to Yato, Tokimori clung to the car door as to not touch the large demon. Tokimori in that state lowered Yato’s spirits, which made him apologize, and eagerly try to talk to him. Yato was under the impression that his and Tokimori’s relationship hadn’t changed at all.
