Welcome to Arcana 61 The Battle On The Bridge Continued

During the same period, Adrian was hanging on the side of the bridge to hopefully do a surprise flank. The movement was slow due to the relentless shooting belting the move Eastside Paladins. The climbers needed to get close enough to be able to do some serious damage. They were finally able to get into close proximity as the gunners behind the eastside paladins opened fire but the Westside had their own Paladins shielding them.

It was a deafening racket, which gave the melee fighters enough time flank them. Adrian was the first to jump off from under the bridge. One of the shield men was able to stop Adrian as he came down with his Katana. The Paladin swung his sword as it hit the ground creating a small but pronounced crater. Radley followed up cleaving his arm nearly in half, but he was stopped as another shield-bearer intercepted him. It suddenly became a full out melee brawl as one after the other started to make their way into the fight.

Adira had just finished as she joined the side of Nianda, "How's it going?"

"So far it looks good. We haven't suffered any casualties yet. I have to admit I am surprised by that boy. He has called everything so far."

Adira chuckled, "He will only become bigger in the future. Heck, he might even lead the council himself at this rate."

"Would you bow down to him?"

"Hell no. I am heading…"

Nianda grabbed her arm, "No wait. You need to be as fresh as possible. If their magistrate enters the fray you can't be tired. You are after all dealing with somebody that is a level higher than you."

"But I can't just sit and watch while everything goes down!"

"Please, I am begging you. Just remain behind, for now. If it gets ugly you can step up."

In the house of the Westside magistrate, his right-hand man received a call, "The surprise attack was a failure! They were expecting us! Somebody blabbed!"

"What's your situation now?"

"We are all retreating, casualties on our side from the rear force was too heavy. So we decided to fall back."

"You will turn around and head back. You remembered what the magistrate said."

"The hell with the magistrate. We live there because we want to not to fucking die a useless death."

The man sighed, "Are you going to tell the magistrate that you guys lost to a bunch of low level."

"Low level…LOW LEVEL! THE FUCKING MOTHER OF HIGH LEVELS WAS THERE! FUCK YOU AND THE MAGISTRATE! We're out."

With that, he ended the call. The man looked disappointingly at his phone. The magistrate isn't going to like this. He was going to step up himself. He shook his head and made his way towards the magistrate.

He was drinking some beer when the man arrived. The magistrate looked up, he could see the disappointment on his face. He sighed and put the beer down. He was a beefy man but not large. He had a shaved head with a long full-faced black beard, with tinges of grey in it. He had deep brown eyes.

"Okay give it to me straight."

"The ambush was a bust. I told you this was a greedy ploy."

"We needed the eastside to submit. I do not want to meet the same fate as the Eastside's Magistrate."

"And yet this course of action might just bring that about. We should have initiated a peaceful overture. This could only go downhill from now on."

The magistrate rubbed his own temples, "Are you suggesting I go to the front line?"

"I am suggesting you do something."

"And here I thought your strategy was full proof. First, get them all riled up. Second distract them so that a weak force could hit him from behind, which would cause disarray among them. That would allow our forces in the front to decimate them. Was this not your plan?"

"Yes it was, but one of two things happened. One, somebody blabbed. Two, there was somebody on their team that was one step ahead."

The magistrate stood up and put on his armor. He grabbed a massive bone Broadsword, probably the size of a dining table and made his way out the door.

He arrived when most of his forward forces had sustained damage. He grabbed his massive broadsword and smashed it into the ground causing a crack to traverse all the way to the bridge. It created such a loud discharge that it reverberated through the cavern, "That is enough."

Adira knew this was her queue. The magistrate shouted in a booming voice, "THAT IS ENOUGH!"

Everyone had already stopped by then. Adrian was the first to walk up to the magistrate, "Maynard, I think you remember me? "

"Of course I do Adrian. Don't tell me you are behind this insurrection."

"Insurrection? You wanted us to bow to you like dogs! This is no insurrection, this is for our own defense. Our very livelihood was at stake!"

"It would have been a simple monthly monetary amount, and I would have protected you as well."

"Simple!? Each and every household would have to pay seventy-five percent of all profit gained! Are you daft!? That is no simple tribute, and as a result, you will face the consequences or we can talk it out like civilized people."

"You are suggesting peace talks? Do you take me for a fool?! I will not end up like that…filth from your side."

"Yet that filth is gone now. "

Adira just came up behind Adrian, "I wouldn't even contemplate that, Maynard."

Maynard knew he had no real choice. Even if she was a level lower than him, it will become a pretty nasty fight. She is renowned for her speed, while he was renowned for his strength, and to boot, she was a technical fighter, "Are we going to fight, Adira?"

"Not necessarily, but I do suggest taking the peace talk offers."

He scratched his head, "Who will be present from your side?"

"Each side will send three representatives."

"Fine, we will meet in three hours' time."

"Fine, but you better be on the up and up with this."
