He went back to his corner and waited for the secondary prelims to finish up. He was bored as he looked at everyone talking to everyone. He took out his knife and started playing with it. A while later an announcer lady showed up, "Okay people! We are starting the third preliminaries! We will have it up on the displays look for your name. If it doesn't show up you don't have to fight in the next round!"
Radley looked up at the Led Screens. The name, 'The Loner'. Showed up next to someone known as 'The Ravager'. He shook his head, people chose such crude names.
He made his way to the field. The man he faced had full-faced bone armor as well as multi-layered armor. His blade was a massive bone broadsword, but it looked weirdly sharp. It also seemed that this guy knew how to wield it. Drake lv.1 Sadistic nature.
Radley furrowed his brow when he saw his nature. So, the man took pleasure in hurting other people. Would explain his weapons and armor.
He pointed his massive blade at Radley, "I heard you did well in your previous fight. So well in fact that I was told to have fun with you."
Radley had an expressionless face.
The ref got them ready and initiated the fight.
Drake charged for and did an overhead swing but at the last second, he switched to a horizontal slash. A textbook fake-out. Radley figured that the blade must be lighter than it looked. Radley reacted accordingly and saw a small opening straight to his throat. Now, obviously, he couldn't use his knife. It would kill the guy so, he went for an open palm thrust to the throat. He put in a fair amount of strength into it. Drake gagged but didn't let go of his sword. Radley did an upwards palm thrust to knock off his helmet.
Radley jumped on him and locked his arms in place with his own legs. This was followed up by three rapid punches to the face. The dropped like a log after that. Radley rolled away with the momentum and recovered back to his feet. 50 Invo points, zero diff points
Again, he was the first to win from the group. His instant reaction was giving him a substantial edge in this competition. The Ref declared him the winner and he made his way back to the resting area.
There were a bunch of people that specifically was watching his match because the man that Radley took out was the man that brutalized his previous opponent. The one that made the runs through the masses which Radley happened to hear. Though Radley wasn't aware of who it was, he could care less.
The people looked at him in astonishment. He took out the guy with nothing but his fists.
Erina in the crowds was looking at his matches with bated breath, but both times it was just a one-sided thrashing. It actually impressed her quite a bit.
Rita, on the other hand, was shocked beyond belief, "Guess I underestimated him by quite a bit."
The masked girl was also looking at his match. She was snarling behind the mask even though it wasn't showing. She will be number one.
Radley made his way to his usual spot. People were actually making way for him. Darnell walked up to him, "Seems you got some talent there. You will still lose to me though. You're not even in my league."
Radley looked up at the man's face, "Who are you again?" Radley was well aware of who the guy was, but he feigned ignorance as to not play the man's game.
This pissed off Darnell quite a bit, "That there are fighting words…"
"Why? I am sorry, but I really don't remember you."
Darnell was speechless. He turned around and walked away in complete silence.
After the third prelims were over the same announcer lady showed up, "Okay we are done with the preliminaries. We will start with the main part of the competition. Last time we had people fighting beasts. This time we will have a tournament-style battle. The sixteen that made it this far, congratulations. You will be paired off against each other according to your performance."
She pointed the remaining sixteen to the Led monitors. There the pseudo names of the contestants were up.
They were all transferred to different seats closer to the main arena. There too were some refreshments. Radley quickly grabbed himself another Fanta orange. Rita was sitting a few chairs away from him, "Seriously? Don't you think you had enough?"
"I rarely get to have good food. So, I will be taking as much opportunity as I can get."
"It's going to affect you in the fight."
"I can live with that."
The announcer sounded off, "The first match of the day will be! 'The Loner' versus 'The Killer'!"
Radley slapped his own forehead. The killer!? These people really should reconsider their names. Radley stood up and made his way to the staging area and just waited with his arms folded.
The other man raised a fist into the air as he walked out. Radley placed his hand on his forehead and shook it. He couldn't help but cringe for the man's attempt for showmanship. He looked at him: Lv.1, Fitch, narcissist by nature.
Fuck these people had weird personalities. He took out an axe and pointed it towards Radley. He used his thumb to make and run it across his own throat like he was gonna slit it. Radley wanted to jump off a bridge due to the cringe factor.
The ref stood between the two and said, "Begin!"
