She remained quiet. She could see the intensity in his eyes. She shook her head and sighed, "Fine, whatever. Your loss."
The old man remained quiet during the spat. He finally spoke up when Erina left, "Bad blood?"
"Yes and no, or just a confusing annoyance. She wanted me to die rather than saving her…it's history in any case."
"Someone died?"
Radley stared at him for a moment, "You ask a lot of questions."
"I take it it's a touchy subject?"
Radley remained quiet.
"Right, message received. You see that tall building there. You go there to register."
Radley turned around and looked at the building.
The old man spoke up, "Leave the axe here. In that competition, it will be useless."
He rummages for a proper axe made of iron, "Use this in the meantime."
Radley raised his hand, "No need, I have something else I can use."
"Suit yourself. Come back in three day's time. I should have it ready by then. Unfortunately, you are still too weak to take on the bigger axes. So I will produce something perfectly suited for level one. Due to the type of material being used, I would say the axe would be good up until level three. Come to me after that."
Radley nodded his head and gave him the axe.
He went back to the girl who saw him and waved. Radley just nodded.
She smiled handing over the tanning solution with a smile, "Here you go."
Radley handed over the money, "You can't tell me how to properly treat this skin."
"Yeah I could, but that would be an extra hundred"
He pulled his face, slightly annoyed, "Fine, here you go."
"Could you remove your…shirt?"
"Tunic, but whatever."
He removed his tunic and gave it to her. She looked at it a bit and asked, "What are these?" She was pointing towards the fiber twine he made.
"I used some plant fibers to make twine."
"Ah, okay. So we are starting there."
She went to her stuff she was selling and produced a small blunt knife and some other things, "So, I noticed you did try cleaning it but did a really crap job. You used smoking as a preservation method. While that would work, it will only last so long. This is a proper cleaning knife and some proper twine. Use this soap and brush to properly clean your skin. Be careful when using the brush. Easy gentle strokes. Here is a bucket as well, this I want back though. The rest you can keep. So this is what you do. First, use the knife to clean the bits you missed than wash it. Use a piece of cloth, here by the way, and properly rub in the tanning solution. Let it dry in the sun afterward."
Radley smiled, "That is the most generous advice. Thank you."
"No problem, can I help you with anything else?"
"I am good for n…Oh wait, can you tell me of a place where I can get some food and lodging?"
"Most of the buildings around us cater for that sort of thing, but I guess you are a bit strapped for cash. While the food isn't all that great you can always try the hostel…mmm, over that way."
She pointed down the street to their right, "Go down that road. The third street, turn left. It would be on your right. Big sign saying hostel. Can't miss it."
"Thank you you have been a real help."
"What level are you on?"
"Level one and if you are going to tell me about the competition then I already got information about that."
"Good, you going to take part?"
"Yeah, the money is good."
"You seem a little bit ill-equipped, but I will be rooting for you."
He knew she was only saying that to butter up the costumer. Radley just smiled and nodded before leaving. He needed to fix his gear and fast. He wasn't too sure when this competition would happen.
