Chapter 143:The Advantage of Range.

"Now then, let's move on to the fourth skill. It is simply one that make the user completely immune to continuous or instant death damage from poisons and curses. That process of how it works has not yet been thoroughly researched."

Lilinsensei then continued her explanation of the special resistances that the Royal Lineage has.

The fact that they are still not thoroughly researched it, is probably because it's related to the coding of the world.

I'll have to ask Kami-sama about it later.

Just to be sure I remembered, I wrote "Ask about poison and curse immunity"

"Next is the fifth one. Regeneration or resurrection. As the name implies, it means you will be revived from an incapacitated state. In other words, a royal family member, even if their life goes to zero, will be instantly recovered. The way it works has yet to be discovered."

Well. . .Isn't that overpowered?

In the first place, it's a feat on it's own just to get their life to zero. And if, even if, you conquer that massive trial, it just recovers. Doesn't that mean they are undefeatable?

Royalty is scary.

"And now the sixth one. This is perhaps the most important one. In fact, it may be a revolutionary technology that we may harness in the future."

Lilinsensei is hyping it up.

The sixth one is just "Entirely Long range magical damage" What's so special about that?

I should probably pay close attention.

I leaned forward to listen, as Rig continued to brush my hair.

"So what does "Entirely Long range magical damage." or even Long Range magic mean? Well before I explain that, I should tell you about another technique before hand."

She said as she surveyed the classroom.

"Now, let's talk about counter techniques. One example of it, is the popular, non-attribute magic "Mirror Force". It creates a barrier that blocks an opponent's attack, and fires a shock wave back at them."

I jumped when I heard the word counter.

I learned about it when I was taught ghost piercing.

However I was only taught the bare basics of it. So I still have so much to learn.

"If you attack Mirror Force directly, the shock wave it disperses, completely immobilized the opponent. Now then you may not have ever experienced this before, but you will lose your mobility, regardless of your status. There are no exceptions. Whether it's armor or invincibility. Moreover, even if you are invincible, you will still be blown away by it and damaged by the shock wave."

The inside of the class rumbled a little when they heard that.

Taking damage even if you are invincible. Doesn't that just completely negate what we learned in her last lesson.

Of course I already knew that counter can make invincibility void. So it's not that surprising. 

However this is a new way of doing it.

I already know how codes work.

The way coding impacts the counter is completely missing from this lecture.

However, just knowing about coding will make Lilinsensei's lecture more informative.

So I will concentrate my hardest, and try not to miss anything.

"Now let's go back to the question at hand. What is the difference between long ranged magic and normal attacks. The difference becomes apparent when it comes to counters. For example, if you fire a Blitz at the mirror force, it will block it and release a shock wave. However, it will not incapacitate the opponent. Do you know what that means?"

Sensei looked around for anybody to answer.

Rig then raised her voice from behind me.

"Go ahead Rigurett"

"So if you aren't incapacitated, then your armor and invincibility should still be effective? Even if it hits them with a shock wave."

"That is correct."

Rig answered it easily. 

Amazing.

I already knew that answer thanks to my experience first hand with it, however Rig did not.

Hahh. . .I'm getting fonder and fonder of her.

I pushed my head further in her chest. I could feel her heartbeat.

"Rigurett-kun is correct, so long range magic does not deprive you of movement when hit by a counter. So therefore invincibility is still effective when relying on more indirect attacks. Making long range magic a safe choice against counters."

I guess I agree with it being a safe attack.

Because if you actually directly attack a counter, there is a chance of instantly dying, even if invincible.

So if there is no risk when using ranged magic, that is a much safer choice.

"Now let's go back to what the 6th status means. It simply makes all attacks be considered long range magic. Therefore making them immune to counters. Along with their invincibility, it makes them impossible to damage."

I was deeply moved by Lilinsensei's lecture.

Invincibility can be truly invincible. 

And relic armor can act just like a barrier.

Plus their attacks are converted into long ranged magic, meaning they can't be countered.

All of these mixed together, means a person with a god like immunity exist

This is really peaking my interest. My heart is beating faster.

I want to learn how to be strong.

But knowing that there is so many interesting strengths is making this world more and more interesting.

I was so enthralled by Lilinsensei's class, that I even forgot about heat on Rig's touch.

Sorry for the small chapter. I got side tracked with releasing 2 quad sisters chapters, and then side tracked with family visiting and get togethers. 

Also on a personal note, these lore heavy chapters are just a pain to get through. Not just because it may be confusing. Mainly because I'm not interested in it. I just want friendship, character interactions.

Well anyways. I'm not sure if the next chapter bunch(It will be a bunch) will be a long one. I can try, but the holidays are coming up so no promises.
