The Rise of Annixon Bright 16 The Kraken

Annixon went to the deck and looked for someone in uniform. It didn't take him long to find someone who was busy with a few cleaning supplies.

She looked a bit rough around the edges but was surprisingly easy on the eyes. With black unkempt hair and a traditional sailor's uniform and tanned features. She was also a short lass, but slightly taller than Anastacia and Sinah. Annixon first thought was that she would be something else if she was to clean up properly.

Annixon hesitantly introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Annixon…uuhm…I just wanted to know if I could help with fishing or something like that?"

She eyed him up and down. Her accent caught Annixon completely off guard, "Ye want to go fishen, do ya? I culd help ye wit that. Neve' enuf fish to go around. I enjoy a bit of fishen meself. Ye sure ye can handle a stik? Ye look a wee bit…wet."

It took him a little bit to understand what was just said, but he caught on quickly enough, "I bet you have handled your fair amount of 'sticks'."

She shook her head, "I kno' wha ye are tryin to say. I have neve' had tha kinda stik before, ya perv, but I neve' sai' that I haven't enjoyed tha occasiona' lass. Now they hav' the pretty fish down ther', if ya kno' wha I meant?"

Annixon shook his head and smiled, how did it even get here? He kind of liked her. She was more down to earth than most people he had met before.

She left him to go store the buckets she was carrying and came with another bucket, filled with fish guts. Annixon took the bucket and a stick from her and carried it to the edge, "Ye puttin on a brave face ther', aren't ye?"

"I've seen worse and smelt worse."

It was true, he was once in a situation where he had to carry out a forensic audit of a battlefield where sixty-nine people were killed and was only discovered six days later under the unforgiving sun. That day he saw some things that haunted him for months afterward, so fish guts was a cakewalk.

He took one of the meatier pieces and hooked it into the hook. He was rather experienced with fishing. It was one of his favorite past-times back on earth.

The odd sailor lady was mildly surprised at his efficiency, "Ye hav' don this before, havn't ye? Whas ye name, pretty boy?"

"Pretty boy, huh? Okay, that's a first. My name is Annixon Bright and yours?"

"Celty Mcfarlane. As ye can tell I don' hail from arou' here. From the north, the far north. Wanted te ge' out. Saw an opportunity, took it and here I am."

They spoke for a while when a very low rumbling could be heard resonating through the area. Annixon saw the sheer terror on Cetly's face, "I take it that isn't a good sound."

She didn't even turn to Annixon and just kept staring into the ocean, "A Kraken. This will be the day we die…I have neve' even been wit' a man. I wanted a family, afte' all."

She started crying. Annixon gently patted her on the head, "Don't cry. You will still be able to do all those things."

Annixon turned towards the ocean, "I was hoping for a big catch, but nothing this big."

He jumped off the banister he was sitting on, "Celty, I noticed some catapults of the ship. Tell the captain to get them ready and as soon as those tentacles show, blast them, also tell to drop the anchor and bring up all sail. We need to be motionless for this idea."

"Ar ye daft!? Tha' is one gaint squi' the size of of the ship. We woul' only piss it off!"

"And the more pissed of the better my plan would work. Now stop dilly-dallying and get to it. We might even get a whole lot of calamari, tonight."

Something about the man's confidence made her confident. She didn't hesitate and ran off to go find the captain.

Annixon ran to the storage room and saw a guard standing there, "My good man. Do you have an empty barrel to spare?"

"Passengers aren't allowed down here. So I will ask you…"

Annixon interrupted him by raising his hand, "You do know a Kraken is about to attack?"

His eyes went wide and he ran past him, and shouts, "There are some empty barrels in the back."

Annixon Smiled and grabbed three of them. He looked around for some rope and tied them together, then again tied them down with a net, he also noticed sam tar grabbing that as well. He tried getting them on his back, but due to their size, they were a bit unwieldy.

Celty found the captain coincidentally rushing towards her, "Captain, we need ta stop!"

"What are you on about girl?! There is a god damn Kraken on the way!"

"Someone I kno', kno's of a way ta defea' it!"

The captain stopped dead in his track, "That is a Kraken we are talking about, not some kind Dogy (a type of dolphin that colors the water in the right type of conditions)"

The captain sighed, "We are gonna trust our lives to some random person…What does he or she want?"

"It's a he. He wan' us to stop the ship dea'. Then use the catapults to…"

She hesitated for a second. Telling the captain to piss off a Kraken wouldn't sit well with him, so instead, she said, "Ta keep off tha tentacles."

"What's he gonna do?"

She shrugged. The captain slapped his forehead. The ship wasn't nearly fast enough to get away anyway, "Either way we are dead. DROP THE ANCHOR! GET THE CATAPULTS READY! BRING OUT THE ORBS! DROP THE SAILS!"

Annixon finally got to the deck, a bit out of breath. He ran towards the girl's room and bursts in, ' I need you girls' help."

He saw Sinah in her undergarments. He took off his shirt and threw it at her, "My apologies, Sinah. I thought you guys would use the makeshift dressing room."

Sinah was blushing heavily and used the shirt to cover herself, "Only one at a time can use it, and milady is in there."

Annixon sighed and shook his head, "Anastacia, hurry up and get dressed I need your help. Sinah, you too. Use my shirt if you have to. Time is of the essence."

Sinah nodded and quickly put on his shirt. She went through his things and put on a pair of trousers as well.

Annixon raised an eyebrow, "I am not even going to ask."
