The connection between it and the Lich was dissolved the very second Malachi threw away his humanity and became a monster that was neither alive nor dead.

'The stupid decision he made in the past is helping me after his death. The void staff is ownerless, so it can be used by literally anyone who can manipulate aura or mana.' Roy thought with a smirk.

Actually, the void staff wasn't that useful to him in normal battles as he already had a skill that could open up a black hole that was capable of absorbing and releasing attacks, but it would prove to be immensely helpful in war.
